Hope you feel better food poisoning the worst! I got a flu shot Friday and yesterday I felt horrible, I’m hoping today is better. I’ve never felt so bad from a flu shot.

Thanks Star. I’m just at the stage when I’m thinking about trying a saltine cracker. Lol I’m not sure if I’m getting a flu shot this year but I’ve been seeing a lot of people having reactions that are worse than previous years. I wonder what that’s all about? Hopefully you will continue to feel better, that both of us will! At least we can enjoy the TWO DAY Meh-rathon! Woohoo!

Try drinking a vernors or ginger ale really slowly. Last time I had food poisoning (it was really bad), I couldn’t eat anything and that’s the only thing that helped settle my stomach and made it so I could eat something. The carbonation helps. It helped me again today.

Yes thanks! It’s been ginger ale and saltines since yesterday. The nausea keeps coming and going. I’ve also got a suppository med that’s similar to compazine and that helps like nobody’s business! The only thing I don’t like about it is that it makes me feel like I’ve got a hangover, and super sleepy. Both of those things are better than puking though. Lol At least I’m better than I was yesterday. Hope you are over your reaction to your flu shot! Just think, a little uncomfortable now but NO FLU in a month! Yay flu shot!

Suppository was probably phenergan (AKA promethazine). It can leave you pretty tired and washed out feeling.
If you have much trouble with nausea I would try and get a script for some zofran (AKA ondansetron). It is available as ODTs (oral dissolving tablets). You can put one under your tongue and let it dissolve and your body will absorb it from there and tamp down the nausea. Works pretty well with less grogginess associated. Good luck.

OMG, chienfou YOU are a lifesaver! Well, we already knew that but you know what I mean! That’s exactly what the drug is, phenergan. I’m going to message my Dr right now and see if that zofran is something I can take. Thank you so much! @kyeh I feel for you. I’ve had reactions from meds they used during general anesthesia and some have been awful! Even 45 years later I still tell the anesthesiologist before they put me under and they give me something to counteract it. Smart people, thankfully, they really know their stuff! Lol…

FWIW, Zofran has been around for a while. Initially it was used as aadjunct with chemo meds and was very expensive so we didn’t use it much. Lately (probably related to the availability of a generic) it’s become dirt cheap and has its place as our go to for nausea. Even in a small rural community hospital like the one I’m in! The ODTs are particularly handy since you don’t have to drink anything to get them down and there’s no icky “up to poop-shoot” stuff to deal with.

I’ve had those kinds of psychosis like reactions/symptoms, hallucinations, disorientation etc., from some antidepressants in the past. It’s NO JOKE what they can do to you!
