So… About a month ago, I bought a new fire alarm for the hallway by my bedroom (yes, 9 volt battery). Today I got to test it out – I burned the Chicken Cacciatore. I really didn’t think it was very smokey in the house, but the new alarm did. That little sucker blasted the place with its annoyingly loud squealing. Yep, it will definitely wake me up if there is a fire.
But poor Lady was terrified. She didn’t know where to go to get away from the noise. Finally, she decided that getting yelled at by me was better than hearing that alarm (she is not allowed on the bed and, no, I did not yell at her). Anyway, I found her huddled up and shaking at the foot of the bed.
She’s okay now, but for about an hour she followed me all over the house. She was one scared little pooch. Or maybe it was the thought of me cooking again that really scared her?
@Barney awww, poor lady. I set my smoke alarm off all the time on accident. Whether it’s because I’m grilling and I have my slider open, or there is some burned shit on the bottom of the oven. It doesn’t take much. That’s why I’m wondering if I need to replace mine or not. maybe it’s a good thing that the slightest little thing sets It off. luckily my dog is not afraid. I think when she was probably around four or five months old was when I took her outside for New year’s and all the fireworks and she didn’t care about anything.
Good idea. I’d buy some for my
vibratorfire alarms.@Barney You know how you’re usually advised to check your smoke detectors when DST begins and ends? Well, the time to spring forward is almost here.
@Barney I’d buy some smoke alarms.
@lljk @RiotDemon Where there’s fire, there’s smoke?

@RiotDemon Lady is feeling better. She has decided to blame the whole thing on me. She’ll completely forgive me in a couple of days.
@Barney just wait until it’s Halloween and she can blame you for another costume.
@RiotDemon Do you think she’d be upset if I dress her as The Easter Bunny?
@Barney uh oh.
