They do have transparent backgrounds. Chrome doesn't know how to handle meh's images very well if you try to save or copy them for some reason. Try Firefox. If you copy the image there, it'll paste with transparent (not black) background.
Old, but works extremely well, especially with images having transparencies. Use the plugin to view the image first, then click to save - happiness will result!
@marklog Are you saying the current offering does and you like that, or that it doesn't and you wish it did?
(it's the former if anyone cares)
@ACraigL Yeah,the product pictures on the home page are transparent and very easy to use in the contest.
@ACraigL I'm saying I didn't even check. :)
Sometimes transparent backgrounds are hard. I'm doing my best while @kylethephotoguy is out. Please stop cyberbullying me.
@Moose this was a glorious opportunity to take a picture of the next product in front of a window

@medz right-click, save image will preserve the transparent background of the png. At least is has for me. Copy/paste definitely kills it.
@ACraigL In Chrome, right-click > Save image as... Gives me an corrupt/broken file on meh's images.
@medz Try this extension for Chrome if you don't already have it - https://github.com/alenichev/view_image

@medz Are you on a Mac? It's fine for me on PC, but I endorse @pavlov's solution either way.
Yeah, this is like one of the key design distinctions from the site design at that other place, where everything was always on a white background!
That is, aside from days where the object's just really hard to cut out, or also when @kylethephotoguy is not here because he's on the mend.
