@looseneck I have been reading this book, and utterly hating it. But I promised myself I’d read it someday, and I refuse to give up, but OMG what an overwritten mess…
@shahnm I gave it my best shot about 15 years ago. I got to the part about the genesis of whales and just couldn’t go any further.

@looseneck@shahnm I thought the beginning, while they were on land, was hilarious and rollicking. It definitely slowed down once the ship launched, but had enough riveting moments that I kept turning pages. I could’ve used fewer lectures on 18th century whaling technology, but them’s the breaks.
Couple years ago my little office intern jacked my phone and she taught Siri to call me Snookums. Siri still calls me Snookums even now. So for the day I shall be Snookums to all.
I’m gonna change my handle to @clementine. If I ever had a daughter (NBL at this point, praise Satan), I’d lobby heartily to name her that…so the next best thing is to dub myself Clementine For A Day.
@cranky1950 Why is that a cop out? I’ve been answering to some of my self assigned names for 30+ years. More people know me as Moondrake than know me by the name on my birth certificate. I am much more famous under my medieval club name than my own, as I achieved many noteworthy accomplishments there, including being the first knight and the first monarch. Game rules I wrote under that pseudonym have been published in about a dozen languages as the club spread. In some ways these alternate personas are more real than I am.
Jafar
God(dess)
Xanthippe
today I shall be known as:
thisISmyusername
and the world rejoices.
Well then I want to be known as thismyusername.
@thismyusername I thought this day would never come…
@shahnm were you replying to me or the frog?
@thismyusername Well you of course! This is thismyusername, is it not?
@shahnm
Technically at the time, I was known as @thismyusername.
@PlacidPenguin @thismyusername
@shahnm well that was a good find. How hard was it to find?
I shall be known as QWERTY.
@Shrdlu Can I be UIOP to complete the top row?
@luvche21 You can be anything that you want to be. :-}
Wow! I cant believe I would find a use for these so quickly!

Call me Ishmael

Call me Donald. I’d like the adoration of millions of dimwits and the opportunity to sleep with porn stars.
@cinoclav The secret life of Donald Duck?
@shahnm More or less.

@cinoclav That is one of those uncannily weird images that I cannot unsee…
Couple years ago my little office intern jacked my phone and she taught Siri to call me Snookums. Siri still calls me Snookums even now. So for the day I shall be Snookums to all.
@ruouttaurmind
Yeah. That’s not happening.
@PlacidPenguin @ruouttaurmind I wish there was a love button…so here’s a
instead
@shahnm I always loved Cecil. Beanie and Cecil was one of my favorite shows.

@Shrdlu I wish I had a touching, nostalgic, or even rational reason for picking Cecil. I don’t.
@shahnm @Shrdlu
Cecil, be de meal, for de mosquitoes? (Sorry. Ever since I saw the Ten Commandments, as a little pup.)
@shahnm @Shrdlu My favorite Uncle was named Cecil. I’m going to pretend that is why you picked it…
@mehbee Sure, why not.
@shahnm I appreciate it…I live in my own little fantasy land anyway
Queen of all things everywhere.
I used my indian name, Runs With Scissors.
@cranky1950 There’s someone on the city data boards with that name… you?
@lseeber No
I’m gonna change my handle to @clementine. If I ever had a daughter (NBL at this point, praise Satan), I’d lobby heartily to name her that…so the next best thing is to dub myself Clementine For A Day.
(@narfcake - Not liking the addition to the video though.)
I’m a role-player. I re-name myself all the time.
@moondrake it occurs to me that my favorite character I ever played had the least exotic name. Roy Cooper was a the best.
@moondrake cop out
@cranky1950 Why is that a cop out? I’ve been answering to some of my self assigned names for 30+ years. More people know me as Moondrake than know me by the name on my birth certificate. @moondrake and yet there is still no name.
@cranky1950 Ummmmm…Moondrake? That’s the pseudonym most people know me by.
@moondrake So you’ve copped out!
@cranky1950 @moondrake

Hi, @cranki1950!!!
@f00l @moondrake Hi!
Hexalflonderdichlouroporophobious is the (new) name; forgetting it is my game.
Yuhnowut, forget that. I’m Garfunkel, now. Let’s see how the other half lives.
I’m way late so I’m going to be Mulligan for the day
