@Not_Bot_Not Looking at the Amazon page, apparently it does not. This looks like one of those Hotel Single Brewers… I’ll bet it would work great with those filter packs you get at cheap hotels in your room.
@narfcake@RachelNicole It takes quite a bit of power to heat water for coffee (or anything else for that matter). USB is definitely out.
Write-up mentions using a power-bank with AC outlet as sold here, but it would need to be a big one. The smaller ones will not be able to do the 600W this needs. And in any case it will drain the power pretty quickly.
Makita recently came out with an outdoor line and it has a coffee-maker that runs off of Makita 18V system batteries. It’s pretty cool. But because of the unavoidable need for power to heat water, it will deplete a 4 or 5Ah battery pretty quickly.
@pmarin Actually it will be 5am here in 1 minute. Helicopter just went over head (I am under the landing pattern for the hospital on the final approach and it goes over my end of the apartment building) and woke me up and I can’t get back to sleep (helped along by cats wanting petted at this hour since I am awake. They have me trained…

That little shit!
We retaliate…
When HE’S taking HIS MID DAY SNOOZE we’ll wake him up just for kicks and giggles! And, also in hopes that if he doesn’t sleep all day he WON’T be up all night talking to his phantom friends at the top of his lungs!
UGH…
Just one of the joys of having a cat in your life!
@Kyeh First I put a ruby red one in the cart because every once in a while I like a mid-day cuppa and don’t feel like firing up the 14 cup machine. Then I figured I’d add a black one for our guest kitchen. (we have 3 kitchens… our house is… unusual.) Then I thought “hey, one of these would be good for the gift stash!” So I grabbed a blue one too.
@krmugn52 Eek. That looks like it has gone right past viscous and into semisolid colloid territory. I have to wonder if that stuff qualifies as a non-Newtonian fluid…
Anyone have any idea how hot it heats the water? Can one of you Mehcatz measure it?
Also, comparison to Amazon version:
Amz - 800 W, 15 seconds from button to (probably first drops) brew.
High-Coo - 600 W, less than 4 mins. (Probably the full cycle)
I need to dust off my old Black and Decker single cup. See if it still works.
I really did not need yet another way to brew coffee, especially since I mostly use a French press (of which I have seven). but the wide range of colors and low price has lured me in… so I bought a black one.
(All were thrift finds, ranging from $10 for an unused one to several that were $1. I mostly use them for hot water, rotating them out monthly to decalcify.)
@baqui63@Kyeh Yes – primarily because I’ve spent so little for them.
My guess as to why I was able to get several for so little is because of the safety features. No water, it’ll shuts itself down. To someone just plugging it in and pressing the power button, a coffee maker that shuts off in a few seconds probably means it doesn’t work – hence the several that made it to 50% off and the $1 levels.
@user66374823 Right now, you still have a short time window when you can easily cancel if you want to. Once it changes to “Processing”, only Support can cancel it, and if it’s already in the shipping queue, you’re toast.
Mine arrived yesterday (I got the Crystal Blue one, just to be different). Smart little machine, seems well built especially for the price. It works as it’s supposed to. The thermal power button is an interesting concept and definitely simplifies things. I like how I can just brew a cup for myself instead of inevitably wasting most of a whole carafe/pot. This will get used on trips too, I’m sure.
@PooltoyWolf Addendum: interestingly, I never received the emails that told me this order had shipped and arrived; I only got the order confirmation email. Interesting thing to note, but of no real consequence.
Dammit, meh, reading comprehension matters. Green != orange. Not to be That Person, but I am not down with a coffeemaker that’ll blind me in the mornings.
@missag Update: Flagged the misfire to Meh and they absolutely made it right. I got the green coffeemaker I wanted – reliable little guy, easy to use, easy to clean – and I am literally sipping a cup of coffee it made as I type this. Here’s to the Mehfolk! raises a cup to them

But does it have Bluetooth?
@thismyusername Nope, just Browntooth.
Can it fit one of those Yeti 20 oz tumblers that everybody got for Christmas (or a knock off of)?
@Not_Bot_Not Looking at the Amazon page, apparently it does not. This looks like one of those Hotel Single Brewers… I’ll bet it would work great with those filter packs you get at cheap hotels in your room.
But it looks like it would be a great match for today’s Side Deal.

How is it powered? Batteries? Rechargeable? USB? Outlet plug?
@RachelNicole Standard 120V AC.
@narfcake @RachelNicole It takes quite a bit of power to heat water for coffee (or anything else for that matter). USB is definitely out.

This is too rich for me; the fresh ground coffee mix, not the machine.
Do I need like a 20th way to brew coffee?

My reply is no

@jwoody27 Sorry, this deal contains 6 unique items and I’m not sure which one you want. You can review how to pick one, or just try ordering from the checkout page.
@mediocrebot fine, give me color choices.
/giphy ight-shocking-straw
Do I need this for my upcoming trip?
/8ball
Very doubtful
@sarahsandroid Who said it was about need?
In that case I’ll have my coffee with a shot of Irish whisky!
@pmarin Actually it will be 5am here in 1 minute. @Lynnerizer @pmarin photo of little shit? It is 5:55am and one of my little shits just jumped onto the bed from the dresser via my chest.
@Kidsandliz @pmarin I’ll never miss an opportunity for a picture! BEST LITTLE EVER!
@Lynnerizer @pmarin She is a pretty little girl with colors from the Siamese/Ragdoll/Snowshoe lines and blue eyes. Any idea what she is a mix of?

@kelaiem It worked! Your order number is: fantastic-deadly-airplane
/image fantastic deadly airplane
I have zero need for this… Yet the temptation is strong due to how cheap it is…
Must resist temptation to buy something I don’t need just because it’s cheap.
@OnionSoup I feel it too as I sit here at work with at least 4 ways to make a cup of coffee.
@OnionSoup Why don’t you have a nice cup of coffee while you think about it?
@OnionSoup “I’m not cheap, I’m economical!” -the coffeemaker
I just bought three of these.
WTF is wrong with me.
/giphy parched-clear-quail
@Pony You can’t resist a bargain? Or colorful things? I’m tempted too …
@Kyeh First I put a ruby red one in the cart because every once in a while I like a mid-day cuppa and don’t feel like firing up the 14 cup machine. Then I figured I’d add a black one for our guest kitchen. (we have 3 kitchens… our house is… unusual.) Then I thought “hey, one of these would be good for the gift stash!” So I grabbed a blue one too.
@Pony Sounds perfectly reasonable to me!
@Pony I bought two. Same question.
Don’t need but can’t resist. Same for Side Deal. ¯\(ツ)/¯
So what happens when I wash the travel mug in the dishwasher? Because even if it says hand wash only, it ain’t going to happen.
Who are these people who only drink 15oz of coffee at a time and where do I send them a condolence card?
@DonWhiteside I have a (non-Stanley) 40oz thermal tumbler, and my drip coffee maker makes eight 5oz “cups” …
/image just one cup of coffee
@DonWhiteside I thought these were shot glasses for coffee.
How clever of them to make the coffee drain into the cup braided! What’s next for technology?
@krmugn52 Eek. That looks like it has gone right past viscous and into semisolid colloid territory. I have to wonder if that stuff qualifies as a non-Newtonian fluid…
Bought it a few days ago at Morningsave haven’t received it yet. Why do I feel the need for another because it is cheaper here?
Anyone have any idea how hot it heats the water? Can one of you Mehcatz measure it?

@baqui63 Black, haha - in the spirit of Henry Ford.
7 French presses, though?!
@baqui63 @Kyeh I only have three here!
Got 6½ of these, however:
(All were thrift finds, ranging from $10 for an unused one to several that were $1. I mostly use them for hot water, rotating them out monthly to decalcify.)
@baqui63 @narfcake 6½ - one is missing parts, I guess?
@baqui63 @Kyeh Indirectly, yes. It became a parts donor after the thermal fuse tripped.
@baqui63 @narfcake So I guess you really like that model!
@baqui63 @Kyeh Yes – primarily because I’ve spent so little for them.
@baqui63 @narfcake Oh! I like that as a safety feature, too. I guess I’ll look for them at thrift stores from now on.
How convenient that this deal dovetails into SideDeal’s offering.
Holy shit, a price that DOESN’T end in 99 cents?!
@PooltoyWolf That penny cuts into profit margins.
@mehcuda67 @PooltoyWolf
Tell that to Costco.
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf Well, that penny is special - it’s one in a million!
@Kyeh @mehcuda67 Or at least one in 10,000!
Don’t know why I bought this

@PooltoyWolf Addendum to addendum: whether or not it was coincidence, both emails arrived shortly after I sent that last reply. Hahaha
I got my side deal of two extra mugs yesterday. So where’s the coffee maker already?
You’re just NOW shipping it??!!
Sheesh!!
I love it.
