Must be my monitor settings. Indicated spots look pretty green to me. And while not the major color they were still a very significant part of each (lovely) picture (not just trim).
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sorry the first one posted twice… Only 3 pics show in my post text??
??
@heartny They must have forgotten the swatch for the Excited oxygen breathers at Meh altitudes, up to 3 feet from the keyboard. I believe it’s colored in 50 shades of infra-grey.
But muchas gracias for the info and pretty colors.
@chienfou@heartny Your indicated spots are pretty subdued and appear pale aqua or turquoise on my screens on 2 different devices, not Green.
Lower levels for statistical “significance” are chosen at different values for different applications, standardly at 10%, 5%, or 1%. You must have opted for 1%, at least by my screens.
I am facing north in my apartment but since the landlord put up spotlights and there were a lot of clouds my camera caught nothing and I didn’t even see the faintest glimmer. I should have gotten in my car and driven to somewhere darker. I sort of saw them a few years ago from my window. Edit - just read this state was not on the list to be able to see them.
Are they happening again Thursday night? space.com only listed Nov 11-12 but I was reading the magnetic storm will be lasting longer than that.
This is one of those cases where cameras do really do justice to the event. In fact a lot of times the pictures a phone took look better than the reality.
@Kyeh
So the crazy thing is we haven’t ever been able to see them here until last year. Ever since I was little I wanted to see them. They were on my bucket list before I even knew what a bucket list was! Lol
Neither of us knew that were going to be visible the last couple of nights. I found some amazing pictures on our towns FB page. People are going crazy posting pics. We’ve never had such an amazing sky! My guy is going to try and take some pictures tonight if they are still visible. These are just a few from different spots around town that were posted.
@Lynnerizer Wow, those are stunning. I hope you get to see some! A friend and I have talked about taking a trip to Iceland one day just to see the northern lights.
I just have this one I snapped on my phone. I was very sick that night and too stupid to turn all the house lights off. Ugh. My husband took a bunch of shots with his good camera, maybe he’s got better ones I can share later.
@Kyeh Oh wow!!!
Weird. I’d hoped that an actual photo would show up in the thumbnail, not a cartoon of a sunset. 🫤
Photo credit goes to my sister.

This looks like the PERFECT sky for a night of Trick or Treating on Halloween!
Very nice! Lovely shots…
Is the only option something that can be mistaken for Gorgia Red?
@phendrick
Are you green colorblind?
@chienfou No, I see the greenish trim in limited spots above, but the predominant colors above are reddish (or radish, for those with gardens).
@phendrick These are the color possibilities, including Georgia Red:

@phendrick @chienfou–he’s just jealous he didn’t get to see them.
Went to see the northern lights last night and the clouds took over, I was very disappointed.

@chienfou yup. The camera lens is more sensitive to light.
@chienfou @kittykat9180 Oh, definitely - but the lights last night were actually visible to the naked eye, even though they were dimmer.
Beautiful
These are so gorgeous! They make me want to paint.
@sillyheathen it worked for van Gogh. We will be expecting your masterpiece. Just stay (mostly) sane.
Wow that’s beautiful, mother nature at her finest!

I’ve never seen the northern lights sky in person, it’s been on my bucket list before I even knew what a bucket list was!

@Lynnerizer Aren’t you far enough north to see them at times like this? But maybe it was too cloudy …

That would be a wonderful trip! I never thought I wouldn’t have to travel in order to see them!
@Lynnerizer Same here!
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer
I’ve seen some amazingly inexpensive packages for that trip. If you don’t already use them keep an eye on travelzoo.
Trip to SoCal since the 10th, so missed the whole show.

Thanks for the beautiful pics!

@Pony
nice! I don’t think they were visible this far south this time.
@Pony I’m sorry you’re sick, hope you’re feeling better? But that’s a great picture, with the extended horizon and a lot of green and all those stars.
@Kyeh Thanks. I am slowly getting better.
@Kyeh @Pony
Lights and all, that’s beautiful! Hope you’re feeling better!
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer Thank you. I’m getting there.
@heartny
Now that’s some old school tech!
It’s always fun to see how much I can see and then view it through my phone and bam! so much more excitement.
