German bier is different

this picture was taken on the opening day of Oktoberfest in Munich. we watched the parade, ate sausages, and then went into the Armbrustschützenzelt tent. we sat, we ate more, and we drank. it was a wonderful time, and i feel like i moderated my drinking pretty well. after all, i didn’t want to end up at the Kotzhügel (vomit hill).
after returning home, one of the group members mentioned a ride. one of those swings that spin and go high up in the air. i asked, “oh fun, where was i when you guys went on that?”.
after a brief pause on the text thread, someone said, “you were on the ride sitting next to your wife”. they sent a blurry, cropped picture of a brown man in lederhosen. i maintain my stance that i did not go on the ride. and then, i was told that i had wayyyyy more to drink than i thought:
i was seen doing shots of Jager with random people in the tent
i had 3 more drinks from a bar kiosk after we left the tent
i may have had more shots with our group members outside the tent
i wandered away at some point with the only actual german in our group to hunt down a pin and more sausages
i may have bought cotton candy. i hate cotton candy.
on the plus side, i was described by my wife as a very happy drunk. so anyway, go to Oktoberfest in Munich if you can. if you have questions about it, apparently i’m not the one to ask.
Prost!

That sounds like a great time was had by everyone. It’s a shame you don’t know how much of a great time it was, though.
@Thumperchick i mean, i remember the beginning and the end. it’s only about 3 hours that’s missing. but at least i apparently had a great time in those 3 hours. (as well as the stuff i do remember)
Fuckin’ awe-some.
Definitely a place/event I’ve always wanted to check out. Maybe one day…
BTW… Given the quantities you reportedly consumed I’m impressed you only lost 3 hours!!
Hahaha fuck yeah you went on that ride! This is why I’m banned from jager. There was an incident for the last in-house Easter brunch at our restaurant. The Englishman left to sign for a delivery, our house was a few minutes from the restaurant, and I was the life of the party when he got back about 30 minutes later. Apparently I’d had multiple shots of jager in his absence even though he’d requested I specifically not drink it…. I don’t remember most of that night and what I do was truly a fever dream. That ish is dangerous.
I’m really glad yall went and had an amazing time. I also request proof of the ride with the blurry photo!
I do have a question. Are there more people in traditional dress or non? I’ve always wondered if it’s more tourists in fancy dress than locals. Kind of like Mardi Gras and tourists asking locals to show their tits. That will get you a sock in the mouth if you’re anywhere other than bourbon street.
