@Pavlov this was my former home before moving to the downtown office full time. For some reason my colleagues don't agree with me that my 3-5 minute commute to the downtown office is better than my 40+ minute commute to the Carrollton office.
@compunaut In Texas, certain parts of Dallas are famous for trying to be SW Manhattan. Emphasize trying.
Lived for years in Little Italy, and have spent much time on the fringes of the parts of Manhattan life that get "jealous press". Trendy Dallas can come off as a million times more snobby and "self-consciously fabulous" than anything in NYC. Funny thing, in NYC, the people i knew pretty much were treated as interesting and welcome, without having to work at it, and not being "somebody" in the social sense. Not so much in some Dallas "fashionable" neighborhoods.
