Did you buy anything you considered to be a good deal on or around black Friday?
7I got my first pair of Sketcher’s slip on walking sneakers on Amazon for 34.99. My wife paid over $ 70 for the women’s pair of the same sneaker about a month earlier. Its difficult for me to find shoes that feel comfortable as my orthotic are fairly thick but these seem to do the trick.

Nope. Even Meh/side deal’s prices were the same as they always are. I’d had my eyes on some stuff but they didn’t even discount things, so I didn’t bother.
I bought a $5 whirley-gig that is purportedly for making cold-brew coffee.

I also gather that this can mix other “substances” as well, so I might be able to monetize it into a side gig or something…
@therealjrn I got one too!
Up until yesterday, Catshirtswoot was discounted to $6 this week and yesterday’s 20% off with app checkout stacked.
Did I need more catshirts? No. Did I buy some anyway? Meow.
First year I didn’t purchase anything, didn’t even look at deals. I probably saved some money though.
Been a long time since that influenced my purchasing choice. This year is no different than any other.
Last year I bought my husband a year membership in the Rare Beer of the Month Club. This Black Friday they offered 10% off existing members to renew, so he is getting the same gift for this Christmas too.
We picked up a couple roku’s for our smart tvs that are no longer smart.
@UpbeatDuck Oddly, our smart TV seems to have taken some remedial classes. When we first got the TV, I didn’t like the built-in apps, so I connected a Roku for watching things like Amazon Prime and Netflix.
But after several software updates over the last year or so, the TV’s apps seem to be much more stable/usable, so more and more I just use them.
a couple spool of Filament for my 3d Printer
I’ve been shopping my head off! My OCD is working overtime, lots of great deals on Amazon. My guys birthday is next week so I got him a few things, and I bought some stuff for my niece, just because.
Everything was on sale or I didn’t buy it, candlesticks, candles, and a table runner.
I even got a couple birthday cards at 30% off!

Today’s shopping-- we need at least one storage rack for the utility room. I might do the foldable kind only because they arrive already assembled.
I also might pick up a couple of sweat-suits from Comfrt.com. If you pre-order they’re as cheap as $50, and they’re super nice if you haven’t seen them. AND… If you sign up for texts and leave something in your cart for a hour they’ll send you another coupon code for 15% off to use in addition to their sale!

@Lynnerizer be really careful about sales this time of the year because a lot of them are really not sales. Something that was 599 a month ago that marked up to 699 right before Christmas so that it could be marked back down on sale at 599
@Cerridwyn

Yes, they’re tricky like that. Thanks!
Like @Jamileigh17 and @Cerridwyn, almost a nope. Nothing special to float my boat. The only exception is the $1.00 1 qt. poinsettias (limit 16) at Lowe’s and $1.49 6” poinsettias (limit 20) at Home Depot. They go fast. Done this for past five years. They used to be $.99. Gotta be careful at Home Depot. Mixed in with other poinsettias at higher price. The non-sale price ones include 6.5” poinsettias.
@rcwbbb poinsettias do absolutely nothing for me. I think because they’re so ubiquitous this time of the year. My mother used to love them in fact she’d plant them outside and I remember having some in the backyard 60 years ago that were caught as tall as I was. But you go a lot of places and they always want to put them out as to decoration of the day or whatever. No thank you. But I’m glad somebody likes them
@Cerridwyn Your mother’s got a green thumb. I never get mine to last beyond February.
I went ahead and got the $2.99 a month HBO/MAX streaming service and rounded it out with the STARZ $11.99 a year deal last night. Catching up on some movies
I woke up to cat urp on my bedroom carpet so I have ordered a $69.98 Bissell Little Green Premier Pet Portable Deep Cleaner from Sam’s for pickup here inna bit.

@therealjrn

I say thank goodness for wood floors!

I just cancelled my Stars account, we can’t ever find anything that interests us on there. I’ll admit it’s probably because I subscribe to too many other stations/apps. I did see that deal for Max though, well it was if you got it thru/with Roku, I’ve got to see what I’m paying now. And that’s a good deal for the cat puke cleaner upper!
@Lynnerizer Standalone Starz is $12 a year, so for $1.00 a month…but I agree with you, it’s kinda slim pickin’s over there. I get Paramount+ with my Walmart account but I get a lot free delivery from them too!
Of course I have AMZN Prime so their video offerings are great as well. I have add-on Hulu for $3 a month thru Prime. My only hitch is Peacock, which was on a deal but just recently renewed at $109.99 for a year on rhe 25th of November! I have to put a reminder into my phone to cancel it next year. I do watch a lot of stuff over there tho.
I have ZERO INTEREST in Disney+ because they have gotten too weird for my taste. I’ll be interested in what happens to Hulu when Disney kills it off later in 2026.
My house is “wood” flooring and tile throughput excepting my bedroom and the guest room. I’ve tried to explain to the cats calmly and in a clear voice to at least make it to a washable surface before they barf or have an accident. But at least they’re making it down to the floor. I feel like I’m running a frat house sometimes with those two!
Anyway, I figure the times of just spot cleaning the best I can are over! I have high hopes for my new Bissell Little Green Premier Pet Portable Deep Cleaner!

@therealjrn
At least I do have monthly reminders set so if we’re not watching one I’ll cancel it. Philo is so expensive ($29 monthly) and we only watch one show on it, I’ll wait for the season to be over and then subscribe for just a month so we can watch it. I think someone else finally picked up the series but they’re a season behind. Last month I subscribed to Disney only because it was like a $1 to do a add-on with Hulu. Haven’t watched it yet…
We also watch a LOT of free movies on YouTube along with documentaries and reality TV. The TV is background noise 24/7 so that app is on daily here, it’s our “go to” when we don’t want to search for something! I can’t imagine what else they have on their pay channel because their free one has so much. I think it’s $180 annually, pretty sure my mom has it, or had it but that’s too much for me.

I’ve got everything you have for TV apps. I really have to go over everything and make sure I’m getting the lowest prices though. I know I don’t have Hulu as a add-on to my Prime account, and I also should be be buying them annually instead of monthly, at least when they’re a good deal and I don’t think I’ll find it cheaper. I think now we’ve got a choice of a few apps to choose from with Walmart+, I think one of them is Peacock.
It’s crazy to know how long it takes us to decide on what to watch. I think we’ve got too many choices but we’ve also got FOMO so there ya go!
For whatever reason our guy Tuc hasn’t puked on the bedroom carpet, it’s the only room that’s carpeted. But… he’s got no problem with puking on me! I won’t dare move him or startle him once he starts arking up that fur ball in fear of him choking. Since my legs are his favorite sleeping spot I just go with it. And only buy washable throw blankets! I can almost guarantee that as soon as I get a new BR carpet he’ll christen it!
Then I’LL need to get a Bissell!
Are you sure you boys at the frat house speak English? Lol

@Lynnerizer Oh yeah! I also pay for ad-free YouTube! (The ads on YouTube are just ridiculous.) I too like the selection over there and they have decent movies.
I remember when Disney had that $1.00 a month deal, I almost got it, but…I just couldn’t justify it.
I’ve been watching the free XUMOPLAY of late, I’ve found some gems on it. I’ve been a long-time fan of Roku as well. I got a cheap Firestick, but it’s still in the box. From my reading, it doesn’t seem to be that different from Roku.
The Bissell Pet Pro is pretty awesome. Heated water, marks on the tank for just a small mess so you don’t waste solution, etc. I’m very pleased with it. My drunk brother spilled his coffee all over my fabric back seat in my car, so I’m going to have to try the machine on it as soon as it’s not so cold outside.
MEALS! DEALS! EELS! AWESOME!
@therealjrn

Some of them are insane with their charges.
My guy has absolutely NO patience for commercials!
Personally, I don’t mind a couple here and there as long as they’re not every 5 minutes like they are on YouTube.
Hopefully he takes his coffee black!
Yeah, we do the commercial free on Peacock, YouTube and one other one that wasn’t going to send me to the poor-house for doing so!
I got shoes from Skechers too. In store, they were buy 1 pair, get 2nd 50% off but they were missing a size I needed and it turned out being cheaper online.
Also got jeans at old navy, 50% off.
Bought my daughter some Converse high tops at 50% off, happy with that!
I just found another BD gift for my guy. Woot has a good deal on a military smart watch, it has great reviews! This thing is loaded, it’s got sleep & walk tracking, and does calls, texting and has Alexa. Heck, It’s even got a little flashlight which I know he’ll use all the time! He’s gonna be thrilled with it, I hope!

I did end up buying it from Amazon though just so it gets here on time, it was only $7 more, the cost of my procrastinating.
I bought about $150 in crap on TEMU, and got about $50 in credits back. Kids are getting in to technology, so a few sub $10 electronics projects that involve soldering will be fun.
@caffeineguy Don’t rule out Amazon’s “answer” to Temu, Amazon Haul for cheap crap too. Currently some 1 cent + $1-ish stuff (max 3 of from each), 50% off everything else, and $25 for free shipping regardless of Prime status. I may or may not have picked up more keycaps and tool battery adapters.
@narfcake I’m still pouting over the ads they added to Prime Video; I’ve bought so much less shit from Uncle Bezos in the last 2 years. Still have to walk between paths of all the meh boxes and crap though.
@caffeineguy Every streaming platform has been fully enshittified at this point.
