I think many of all of the various Kindle devices and Fire devices and tablets are in sale, including the Fire Kids.
Also, for Amazon’s Alexa service, the Echo, the Dot, and the Tap are all on sale.
(The Tap is cheaper still by a little if you order it using Alexa. If you don’t have an Alexa device, you can get an app that will let you do Alexa ordering for either IOS or for Android. Not sure if you need Prime in order for these apps to work.)
@OldCatLady
The Tap and Echo are $40 off. The dot is $10 off
I don’t know if the Dot bundle promo codes work at these BF prices.
They are
DOT3PACK ($20 off)
DOT6PACK (1 free)
DOT12PACK (2 free)
If these codes do work, I suppose you have to add them all to the cart and apply the code during checkout.
@OldCatLady I have been wanting one for so long. Saw it was on sale and with my Amazon points and two Amazon gift cards I earned through Ibotta, 51.66 and mine should be here Wednesday I think. So excited!
@djslack The Dot is currently $40. vice its normal $50. price, so it’s a 20% discount. The DOT3PACK promotion only gave a 13.3% discount, and you had to buy three. I"m battling the urge to pick up one. Just one.
@sammydog01 Grabbed a Ollie “Darkside” for my nephew. Many thanks for the tip. He’s always hard to buy for since my brother gets him EVERYTHING, but this is one thing he doesn’t have yet, and I know he’s gonna love it.
@f00l I have some brand name clothing items to buy for a teenager. She’s a foster child who had zero clothes when she arrived. She’s had a rough year, and I want to make it special.
@OldCatLady If this is not a foster child in your house be aware that some foster kids have their presents taken from them by the foster parents. Not sure how to rig it so they can’t do that, but removing the key tags might help prevent the stuff from being returned. We had a big scandal around that here several years ago. If you give the stuff to her personally, bring scissors so all the tags can be cut off immediately and then take them so they can’t be fished out of the trash.
@Pantheist I was absolutely floored when I found out about that happening. I used to be a foster parent and it never would have even occurred to me to take what was given to the kids, or to spend their money on anyone other than them (not to mention I spent a fair bit of my money on them too). To me that should be enough to disqualify someone from being a foster parent and be considered theft (as in criminal). I don’t know if it would help if the bar codes were cut off the boxes as well or not. I am not sure there is a really good way to stop this from happening if someone is bound and determined to keep what was given the kids.
@Kidsandliz this reminds me… I dated a guy for a little while that was divorced. He was buying birthday presents for his kids. His ex was big into drugs. Every present he bought for them, he cut off the tags and threw the boxes away once he made sure the presents fit/worked. She used to return whatever she could to get drug money. Really sad shit to take from your kids.
@Kidsandliz It’s an Angel Tree through my church, administered through the county’s social services. The foster parents provide Wal-Mart generic clothes, but the girl’s heart’s desire is a pair of Hollister skinny jeans. Which were on sale. And a Nyx highlighter- Rose Gold. Done!
@OldCatLady Cool. That kind of stuff means so much to kids. If you have an extra $10 maybe put that in a pocket as a surprise presuming you are to wrap the presents (if not then I wouldn’t do it as someone might notice and take it)? If I had any to spare I’d send some to help you do that! That likely would absolutely thrill her (foster families are supposed to give the kids a certain, prescribed amount of the money they get each month as an allowance for the child but many don’t do it as often the money you get does not cover the expenses of having the child in your home).
When my kid was in 4th grade I got cancer for the first time and I was in grad school (not a good financial combination). Food for friends had free giveaways of clothing and I scored a bag of the “in” brands at the time in just her size. While some had a few holes and stains she was in 7th heaven. It helped her feel like she fit in; that she had free school lunch was less of a big deal with respect to sticking out because she had the clothing that all her friends had…
I, on the other hand, had a lot of criticism coming my way for being poor and getting my kid the top name brand clothing… except, of course, they didn’t realize how we got them. Sigh. Actually that year, unbeknownst to me, our social worker put us in the newspaper as one of the pity families for stuff. I had no clue until she called me to come into the office (although she had asked me casually what my kid wanted for christmas). I had presumed I had screwed something up with tanf or food stamps or who knows what… whatever it was I presumed it wasn’t good. I was so was relieved and surprised at that outcome.
Anyway getting that child the name brand clothing she wants will mean so much to her - more than it would to most kids. I’d star your post a million times if I could.
Hey @snapster - since you threw some money down a dirt hole for the twisted humor of it, perhaps meh can throw a couple of small gift cards (rules are apparently low denomination) at places a 15 year old would like (movies, Target, Old Navy, Mac D’s/Wendy’s…whatever else teens that age like?) at oldcatlady to put in with the stuff she bought for a foster child who has nothing? And not send it smart post so it gets there in time? Please?
@Kidsandliz I’ve got this one covered, but check with your local county social services, because I guarantee foster and ‘underprivileged’ kids everywhere have the same needs. The young kids all want toys, but the teens, as you know, desperately want the clothing. If anyone wants to help, look for ‘social services’, your county, and ‘Christmas’ or ‘holiday’. It happens every year. ‘Angel Tree’ is what the Salvation Army calls theirs, but others use the same term.
Grabbed an Xbox One S Minecraft bundle from Kohls for the gf’s nephew. Came with the second controller and a dual charging dock. $330 but it earns $90 in Kohl’s cash which makes it a great deal. They were supposed to have the basic bundle for $250 as advertised but it wasn’t even on the site come midnight. Other than that, I haven’t seen anything that screams ‘buy me!’
@mehbee Know the feeling. I hate that post-order regret when I do the same thing. If it’s something I can return to a local store and the rebate is worthwhile, I usually just reorder it.
@cinoclav If I had realized it sooner I would have canceled and reordered. I’m just going to be happy I got them. I had them in my cart, same exact items, on Woot and got busy and forgot to pay for them. Between being sick, busy at and planning for Thanksgiving, I had a big hitch in my shopping giddy up last week.
I got Game of Thrones DVDs Seasons 2 and 3 for $10 each at Best Buy. At least theoretically. I bought seasons 1 and 2 last year and they only shipped season 1. I also got several other seasons of tv shows for $7-10.
Other sous vide deals: the bluetooth only Anova is $99 direct from anovaculinary.com and the Gourmia Pod is $89 from Kohls, add code NOVSAVE15 for 15% off.
The InstantPot that I paid $120. for three weeks ago is now $69. Back it goes, and even with $12. return shipping I now have almost enough to order that Dot. Well played, Amazon.
@djslack
Try following the link and adding one at the warehouse price to your cart again. I was able to do it. I didn’t complete checkout this time tho.
@OldCatLady
I think this model is not an HD screen. Which may not matter. But check specs if you care. I think the other models are on sale also if you want the HD screen.
If you can deal with the Amazon-centric garbage, great price for a decent tablet. Read the user reviews for how to put Google Play onto it.
@f00l I have one, and I put Google Play on it. However, at the moment it’s my sole portal into Alexa’s voice feature. Other devices will load and run the app but not the voice part, or many of the other features. In fact it’s turned into the device I use most often, to my surprise. I don’t use the screen much. I use the other tablets for Google. Sooner or later I’m going to say ‘Okay Google Alexa’ and get a chorus of answers.
@f00l We use these things to play music and watch videos (from Amazon Prime, of course). They are awesome, and you can download stuff from Prime which I love.
@f00l you mean some can’t handle that level of intense dealerizing! i scored me a Nest for $199 + $60 Kohls cash back this morning + later a rebate from my energy company, jazzed!
Not BT.
No mike.

The eero Mesh Network $100 off on line and at Best Buy. I bought one a month ago and although expensive it is great. Now with the $100 savings it is a no brainer!
Amazon has some discounts on Shopkins and that sort of thing. Nothing or kid needed.
I snagged Zootopia on Blu-Ray for $8 and Bioshock Collection for $30, both at Best Buy’s website (presumably stores too).
I think many of all of the various Kindle devices and Fire devices and tablets are in sale, including the Fire Kids.
Also, for Amazon’s Alexa service, the Echo, the Dot, and the Tap are all on sale.

@f00l
I was wrong about the Tap being cheaper to purchase using the Alexa app for the order. Same price as web ordering.
@f00l
@OldCatLady
The Tap and Echo are $40 off. The dot is $10 off

@f00l I caved. My Echo will be here Saturday.
@OldCatLady
See @mfladd “bitches” thread. Something there just for you.
@OldCatLady I bought two (more). Amazon will know every word said in my house.
@f00l DOT3PACK shows as expired. I ordered 2 last night but just tried to order 3 more. I’d have canceled last night’s order if it worked.
@OldCatLady I have been wanting one for so long. Saw it was on sale and with my Amazon points and two Amazon gift cards I earned through Ibotta, 51.66 and mine should be here Wednesday I think. So excited!

@OldCatLady But the DOT3PACK on top of the sale would have been even more percent…
Ollies for $60at Sphero.com
@sammydog01 Grabbed a Ollie “Darkside” for my nephew. Many thanks for the tip. He’s always hard to buy for since my brother gets him EVERYTHING, but this is one thing he doesn’t have yet, and I know he’s gonna love it.
Roku stick $35, Roku 1 $25, and a Roku TV for $99 on Roku.Com
So far am burnt out on BF offers?Just me? Do you have to be in the mood for something particular and special?
@f00l I have some brand name clothing items to buy for a teenager. She’s a foster child who had zero clothes when she arrived. She’s had a rough year, and I want to make it special.
@OldCatLady
Thx for doing that.
Sometimes it’s just the learning that people are out there who care that makes the diff.
@OldCatLady If this is not a foster child in your house be aware that some foster kids have their presents taken from them by the foster parents. Not sure how to rig it so they can’t do that, but removing the key tags might help prevent the stuff from being returned. We had a big scandal around that here several years ago. @Kidsandliz my wife is running toys for tots for our county- just told her about the tags thing. Great idea
@Pantheist I was absolutely floored when I found out about that happening. I used to be a foster parent and it never would have even occurred to me to take what was given to the kids, or to spend their money on anyone other than them (not to mention I spent a fair bit of my money on them too). @Kidsandliz it’s fucked up and probably will always happen, but if there’s an easy way to make it harder why not
@Pantheist I’d agree.

@Kidsandliz I’ve been very, very poor and fifteen. I remember. Money is not allowed, but ‘small’ gift cards are. Old Navy, Starbucks etc.
@OldCatLady Hey all maybe we can send some gift cards for this kid? What is the deadline to turn in what you have bought?
Hey @snapster - since you threw some money down a dirt hole for the twisted humor of it, perhaps meh can throw a couple of small gift cards (rules are apparently low denomination) at places a 15 year old would like (movies, Target, Old Navy, Mac D’s/Wendy’s…whatever else teens that age like?) at oldcatlady to put in with the stuff she bought for a foster child who has nothing? @cinoclav Forgot to mention, got $33 cash back through ebates. I’ll just consider that my ‘personal shopper’ fee.
@cinoclav Love Ebates. I’m so mad I just ordered some stuff last night from Groupon and I was so tired I forgot to go through the Ebates app.
@mehbee Know the feeling. I hate that post-order regret when I do the same thing. If it’s something I can return to a local store and the rebate is worthwhile, I usually just reorder it.

Panasonic Eneloop Rechargeable Battery Kit $19.99 from Costco online, however S&H +tax brings it almost back to the usual $29.99 price.
Play dough playset for like $7 when ordered via the Amazon echo and I think you get a $5 Amazon credit…
@medz I think that credit may have only been for orders over ten dollars.
@sammydog01 Oops, new deal is $10 credit on a purchase of $20. I should have waited to order those Dots.
@sammydog01 Can you cancel the Dots order?
@OldCatLady They tried but it was too late. Oh well, it was only ten bucks.
@sammydog01
Is this deal for anything bought using Alexa?
@f00l No, there is a list of stuff.
@sammydog01
You know where the list is? Googled, did not find.
If too busy, cool.
@f00l I’m never too busy for you.

@OldCatLady Amazon Warehouse Deals had four used like new for $49.99 this morning. I missed out because I fiddled around with it in my cart.
@OldCatLady I saw that. Great price for that thing… I love mine.
@djslack
Try following the link and adding one at the warehouse price to your cart again. I was able to do it. I didn’t complete checkout this time tho.
@djslack they seem to have them back in stock.
edit: these are “used - very good”. dunno what that means, but i ordered one.
@OldCatLady DOT on sale via Prime NOW app for $25
@DaveInSoCal I’m not in one of the NOW areas. Yet.
@OldCatLady I’ll never be in one of those areas. I wish they could send it meh mail for that price!
Loot Crate subscriptions are %25 off today. I cancelled the kid’s subscription from last Christmas and restarted it. Saved $54. Score!
Fire tablet, 7", 8 GB, $33.33. Will run Alexa, but it doesn’t have an ‘always on’ feature that I can find. http://a.co/8J3IRGR

slickdeals.net noobs.
@meh there’s no boobs on slickde… ohhh… i totally read that wrong.
@meh
Yeah yeah. Some might not want that level of noise.
@carl669 CAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRLLLLLL
@f00l you mean some can’t handle that level of intense dealerizing! i scored me a Nest for $199 + $60 Kohls cash back this morning + later a rebate from my energy company, jazzed!
@meh I didn’t know they had a selection of deals listed there that is specifically selected by mehricans for mehricans.
@meh
Did it last year.
Got bunches of great stuff. Including of stuff I didn’t need. Some of it is still sealed.
Last year bought a tv thinking “ok I’ll finally setup a tv.” The tv box is still sealed. Lesson partially learned.
This year I will participated in many many bottles of decent wine w family yesterday instead.
PS that Nest was an excellent buy.
@f00l for sure requires some serious wallet guarding
@medz ehhh okay. you’re welcome for the great website full of great deals.

Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Back Headphone
$99.95
Until midnight pacific time.
According to camel*3, Amazon usually asks $249.99 for these. Since Nov 1st they’ve been at $199.95.
So far this is the most attractive BF offer I’ve seen.
How is google home compared to Alexa/echo/dot?
I have an echo love the sound. I have a dot love the convenience.
@sohmageek Been reading about this today. Google Home seems to have better AI and conversational flow - you can ask follow on questions and it will infer the subject of conversation. Also superior search and the capability to send media throughout your home via Chromecast devices. Echo has better hooks into the real world, setting reminders, building shopping lists, controlling far more devices in the smart home, etc. Echo also has superior third party support.
I’d expect Google to catch up on this very soon, but as of today I’m not compelled to jump in yet.
Bought a concert ticket at half price. Only black Friday sale I’ve been excited about in a long time.
/youtube Amorphis sacrifice
/youtube Amorphis house of sleep
/youtube Amorphis silver bride
/youtube Amorphis death of a king
@RiotDemon I got season passes to the summer concert series here for half price. They guarantee at least 22 concerts. That’s it. Specific bands will be announced later. Last year we bought tickets for a bunch of really good country shows, Joe Walsh, and Toad the Wet Sprocket. This year it could be all rap. It’s like a giant music grab bag. Or a box of chocolates.
@sammydog01 I seem to remember someone standing in a thunderstorm for the final concert. It’s still a good deal.
@OldCatLady I may be standing in a thunderstorm by myself if it’s a rap concert. But I bet it’s a lot of the same folks as last year. So excited!
Google Home for $74.25 from Beast Buy using Visa Checkout.

(Also, it turns out that the PM I sent you wasn’t accidental. Apparently there was a form of logic behind it. I just found a sticky note reminding me to send you a message.)
@narfcake At first I thought that yellow image above said ‘Breast Buy’. And because it was here, I didn’t find it unusual.
OK, the /image for ‘breast buy’ did NOT give what I expected (a picture of packaged chicken). Not exactly NSFW, but it made me uncomfortable.
Moto G4 Play from Best Buy for $34.99
It’s for Verizon and it’s Prepaid, but I dunno if you’ll be able to use it elsewhere.
Although it would make a decent wifi device either way I suppose.
The eero Mesh Network $100 off on line and at Best Buy. I bought one a month ago and although expensive it is great. Now with the $100 savings it is a no brainer!
