Deals thread
4We haven’t had one for a while…
I just saw this in a CNET Cheapskate email.
I don’t play so have no idea if it’s good or not but you can’t beat the price.

@Kyeh They have free games every Thursday. I have quite the hoard of games I will never play.
@sammydog01 Wow - I guess they want to lure people in to buy the fancier ones? I thought it was time for a deals thread anyhow.
That Penzey’s offer that you posted back in Nov. was one of the best ever.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 yea. Same. I have a hord of good games I wanted to play and haven’t gotten through. I think I’m finally done with skyrim and might move it off my SSD. I pushed through dragonborn and dawngaurd with massivly over leveled equipment I had years ago just to be done…
Last one I recall actually enjoying was subnautica
@Kyeh @unksol I played Little Inferno all the way through. It was fun. And easy which is more important.
If you like Penzeys get on their mailing list- that crazy bastard gives stuff away all the time.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 I think I’m just getting old/lazy … And it’s insane how cheap good pc games have gotten on steam sales. Never mind collecting the epic ones or humble bundles.
I need to get to witcher 3. Which almost feels like a chore list
FTL is relaxing
@sammydog01 @unksol Yes, I get the Penzy’s emails now. There’s only so much spices and herbs that I can use at a time, but it does make nice gifts. My neighborhood has the BEST mail carrier so I gave her one of the boxes from that “get out and vote” deal.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 @unksol
Witcher 3 GOTY was like $10 on Epic a while back when it was on a good sale for like $20 and you combo’d it with a $10 coupon they gave with the free game during a sale. They’ve since raised the price by a penny to fix the double-dipping on afew games once the loophole was posted to slickdeals, isthereanydeal, reddit, CAG, etc.
Good deals are on Fanatical too, sometimes.
Did you get GTA V for free a while back?
@Kyeh @mike808 @sammydog01
I have the games just can’t be arsed to play them. I started witcher 3 a long time ago and it just didn’t click at the time. The first two I played through several times and it’s a great game I’m just… Weirdly not into playing at the moment? Just rather watch netflix when work is over
GTA was never for me. Only bought 4 to play with a friend. Still have just cause 3 and 4. Civ 6. Far cry 4 maybe 5. Both watch dogs and divisions. Some assasins creed. Still need to buy fallout 4 but it will be cheaper then dirt before I get through other stuff
There’s a ton installed in the steam vault standing by
@unksol are you a Brit?
Just wondering because you say “can’t be arsed”, which seems very British.
@Kyeh I have spent my entire life in indiana if you must know. As far as recidences go. I do love some BBC and sherlock and Doctor who are beyond excellent. And I just like that phrase for some reason and it’s wormed it’s way into my head
Can’t be arsed sounds better than who gives a fuck
@unksol I agree, it does sound better; I like it.
I like those shows too, and the British mysteries. Oh, and Red Dwarf!
Never got into Downton Abbey or the other highfalutin soaps though.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 @unksol Penzey’s got me with the insane spice deals (and their open political advocacy) and then kept me with more insane spice deals and now I’ve given spice to about everyone and might need to build a spice bungalow to store my spices. And pasta.
I really wish we had a local Penzey’s because their regular small deals are awesome, but shipping kills it.
POKER! JOKER! NOT MEDIOCRE! AWESOME!

Not sure why the normal price is relatively cheap compared to other Kobalt wrenches, but found this 30-piece combination set on clearance at Lowes for $17. Maybe they’re crap but with a lifetime warranty?
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-30-Piece-12-Point-Metric-and-Standard-SAE-Standard-Combination-Wrench-Set/1001448140
Also picked up a 118-piece Kobalt socket set for $22, but that was a one-off deal.
@walarney Wow, I’m actually seeing it at $14.59! Oh, but out of stock.
@walarney I’m seeing it at 24.98 to ship to store for pickup at the 2 closest stores, 3rd one shows 7 in stock, choosing the store shows cannot be ordered online. So I guess if you really want it you’ve got to check different locations, and make the trip and hope they actually have it.
@kevinrs Pro tip: Lowesforpros.com nearly always allows you to order online for in-store pickup when Lowes.com won’t. You have to sign up for a free Lowe’s for Pros account, but as an added bonus they will send you a discount coupon for a purchase of regular priced merch.
@walarney haha, checked 5 or 6 stores online around us and price bounced between $17.48 but out of stock and $24.98 and in stock. Wondering if I went to one of those in stock stores the price would be $17.48…
I’ve generally found Kobalt tools to be a solid value, even if not pre-1970 Craftsman quality. As long as you evaluate each buy.
@RedOak The website has been inconsistent. For me, currently showing $17 and OOS. But Brickseek says they still have 7 at that store. I bet they’re still there and still yellow-tagged – it took me a while to find them.
The wrenches have a nice polish, and the flats at least appear flat (unlike some cheap ones i’ve seen). I expect they’re good enough for me.
@walarney I could have stated that more clearly.
(I was laughing at Lowe’s’ shoddy web management, not the deal or anything you said.)
The prices I saw were consistent, not changing. If it was OOS at a location, $17, if in stock at a location, $24.
