@Kyeh Oh, THAT day. Duh. Yeah … I entertained the idea of driving down to try to catch it - my friend is flying to Dallas but at least she’s also visiting a pal who lives there.
I said I’d tried to book rooms in Jan. but everything was already sold out. She actually found me some in Garland, TX. After some serious thought I decided I wasn’t up for driving all that way just for the possibility of seeing it - but it will definitely be a shame if it’s not visible to those of you who are in the path!
I hope the weatherman is wrong for you…like they are 50% of the time. My family all took the day off, so hoping where I live is good weather. We are driving a few hours south to see totality.
My glasses came yesterday and it says partly cloudy sky’s and high of 60. Only an hour-hour and half drive would for totality. Not sure if I’m gonna drive south and go to the zoo for the day or stay home.
I’m in Dallas, about 2 inches away from totality. When I saw the weather report, my thought was…and all of that money spent on special glasses! lol
Hopefully the rain will be at another time of day and people who have traveled won’t be disappointed.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love rainy days!

Good luck with the weather next week!.
8 day predictions are a bit akin to pulling the answer out of your ass…
It’s still far enough away that the forecast can change. Good luck.
I’ll check my forecast a couple days before.
@tinamarie1974
Did you see the 2017 one?
@Kyeh yes, it was amazing!!! I decided to take the day off bext Monday. Everyone is coming over and we are gonna have a little eclipse party.
@tinamarie1974 So you’re in the path this time too??
@Kyeh yeah 99%!! We had 100% a couple of years ago and it was spectacular. Assuming it will be mostly the same.
I have been advised I will be making personal pizzas in the grill. Not sure what else will be on the menu just yet.
@tinamarie1974 Aww, so lucky!
I do hope the weather cooperates.
Hah, you could decorate the pizzas to look like phases of the eclipse.
@Kyeh oh that would be fun!!!

@Star2236 If it’s a nice day you should go! I hear it’s really a neat experience.
Checked the forecasts for the 8th earlier today.
If you go a way into Mexico (not just to the border)
Or if you go north to Cleveland or Canada …
Forecast is for sunshine.
All points in between are forecasted to have rain
This sux.
: (
Hoping forecasts will improve. Sigh.

Forecast for Dallas (where I’m flying to) on weather.com is:
Mixed clouds and sun with scattered thunderstorms. High near 75F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
Fingers crossed the sun comes out in time to be blocked. (Scooby says, “Hrurh!”)
@ciabelle Hopefully the thunderstorms will be very scattered. We’re planning to drive up to Waxahatchie, just south of Dallas.

@Tadlem43
I’ve been buying and handing out eclipse glasses to all my friends
Perhaps I should’ve just handed out my curmudgeonly personality
