DailySteals Fuku(Kinda?)
1Just hopped over to daily steals to see that they have a DailySteals Mystery Box on their daily deals for today. Seeing as today was payday I decided what the hell and picked one up. I will follow up with what it comes with when it arrives.

I was in until it said "GUARANTEED to be fun, one way or another". I don't want any kind of guarantee that it will be fun. The whole point is to possibly have a lot of fun, or possibly have the worst time ever.
@lichme speaking of, how are your reading glasses
@harrison They did very little for my 20/15 vision, so I re-fuked them to a contest winner on my site. The random light up Korean delivery sign however, is still in my basement.
I saw that too but I'm hesitant. It certainly is a lot less fun than frantically trying to get a fukubukuro. If it was only available for a few minutes I would have snapped it up immediately. Since I have time to think about it, I will probably pass.
Pass. You'll thank me later. Worse than the old thingfling.com mystery boxes, and they were fucking terrible.
@Pavlov shrug The mystery box I got in a rush was a pretty cool basic drone. I think they're doing a pretty decent job over there these days. That said, I haven't thrown away all of my cynicism, and I'm glad @Saffer49 is taking the bullet for the rest of us.
@editorkid They've stepped things up a bit then, admittedly, I haven't ordered one of them from DS in quite some time. And based on my past experiences with them I can't bring myself to do it . . . I was not impressed the two times I bit the worm when they dangled it . . . I really was hoping for more. Best thing in either box was a Halo belt buckle, which is the only thing I kept - the rest was trash I paid to have shipped. I'll be interested to hear the report back from Saffer49.
@Pavlov Oh wow, I forgot about thingfling. They kind of sucked. Seem to have disappeared?
@Pavlov Thingfling is the site that gave me my wariness of "refurbished". Since their idea of refurb meant "wiped down with steel wool and tossed haphazardly into box, working or not."
@mossygreen Yeah, they finally gave up and packed it in - I bought a mystery box there once and got 680 cell phone flashlights. All of them were loose (no packaging) and not one of them functioned. Identical to these: http://www.amazon.com/Cell-Phone-Flashlight-Peel-Stick/dp/B003HNX6D0. Now, had it been a $5 box that would have been a fun skunk and I would have had a good laugh, but the box was $20. Plus shipping. Last purchase I ever made there.
@walarney That would have been refurbished with CARE by their standards.
@Pavlov The flip side of my experience is that they apparently said (I can't watch their livestream at work) that the Rush mystery boxes weren't like bags of crap or fukubukuros, but I don't know what the mystery boxes outside the Rushes are like. Might just be cardboard rolls from a few hundred long-gone rolls of TP. But I've done a few regular orders from them too and everything went fine. (And yeah, I'm happy to piss on ThingFling's grave... in fact, pardon me while I go have a couple beers.)
Also, keep in mind that the description says "home" mystery box. Thus will have a higher chance of more home related items such as kitchen utensils, sheets, and other home stuff. Probably will not have many electronics and such.
I was not thrilled with mystery boxes I got from them in December. 3 of the things in my 'Mens Giftables mystery box" were packs of gum. They'd even asked what size I wanted, and sent me a different sized shirt.
@milujite I bought that too. It was garbage. I got three packs of gum too- that was the best part.
This is like 5x the price of a Fuku.
From what I've read, they mystery "items" from them are pretty good, the mystery "boxes" are however, not. Good luck though!
but but but but it is on sale mystery...... was 59$ now 20$ that means its a deal! of some sort!
I bought one "Ladies Giftable mystery box" from them in December. Total, complete, absolute waste of money. After that one purchase, I'd never buy another mystery item from them again.
One site I do miss is GraveyardMall.com. Never bought one of their mystery boxes; 80% of the stuff on their site was tacky nick-knacks. But they had occasional cool stuff, and you could always get cheap light fixtures.
@walarney AH... yes "Where high prices come to die" i miss it too
There is a "coolest" mystery box for sale on there today... and 99% of me says no to buying it. but the 1% hasnt stopped bugging me about it. $20 isnt a lot of money for something decent... but $20 is a lot of money for something i may not think is "cool", like they do. ya know? the title is irking me too.
has anyone pulled the trigger?
@CozzaFrenzy 1. I just realized what your screen name sounds like...I kept thinking of fozzi before this. 2. I bought a christmas tactical mystery box and it wasn't great (especially since it got lost in post office hell for 3 weeks). slingshot, cheapo pepper spray, hand gun zipper pouch that says something about other retailers selling for 9.99
@chellemonkey due to my personality, my teammates would call me "cozzibear", so youre not alone with that. ahhaha... and most people tend to have an ah-ha moment when they start saying my name aloud ;) also, i ended up not pulling the trigger on the coolest package yesterday..... if anyone did, i'd be interested in the review once they receive it!
As promised here are the results of the mystery box.
2 sets foam heel inserts
1 memory foam holiday bath mat
1 loop wizard for threading hoodie drawstrings back through the hole
1 long micro usb cable
1 usb wall charger
1 ipad case
1 set of watch repair tools
1 antec spot cool 100 case fan
1 rechargeable battery charger with 3 rechargable aaa batteries
4 disposable razor refills
1 slimming weight loss massager
1 full zip izod windbreaker mens large.
@Saffer49 the Izod jacket makes the cost seem decent.
@Saffer49 I got an iPhone 5 case rather than a Loop Wizard; other than that, our mystery boxes were identical. I'm quite pleased, especially with the jacket.
