@medz I always thought the same thing, once i found out they’re basically a convection oven. That’s a lot of counter space to dedicate to the relatively minor advantage of possibly higher airflow in a more concentrated (i.e., smaller & less versatile) space.
@ircon96@medz they now have handheld ones; they’re actually pretty good at being multifunctional. I also had a link to where a convection oven was compared (in making toast no less) and it was found to be winning only in the size category (e.g. you could make more cookies at once, or fit a whole bird, but the toaster and air fryer were outputting better cooking quality at more efficient power usage)
Extra glass bowls are expensive, but it’s much smaller (1 Quart?) than an equivalent cost Ninja all-in-one Foodi (5 quart) with non-ceramic bowl (extra cost, 3rd party) and separate glass bowls that you would have to spoon things out to.
@pakopako I was wondering what “handheld” meant! Lol… That’s true about the performance of different functions, i suppose, since most convection ovens seem to have pretty anemic fans. At least, that’s the case with my old countertop convection oven, although it does a pretty good job at most things I’ve tried.
I got one in an IRK a little while back. Donated it to a fund raiser as we already have a different model. I think it went for something like $260, so that was very nice.
@blaineg I got one too! My nephew (culinary school graduate) didn’t have one and my microwave is also an air fryer as well as a convection oven. So I gifted it to him and his partner. It was brand new in the box and he was THRILLED! I honestly would have loved to keep it but i just didn’t have the counter space.
I got one in the last IRK. Plugged in, but didn’t heat up at all. Spent more money getting rid of it. None of the parts are available, so can’t even get it fixed.

Regularly $350? This thing is 199.99 all the time on Amazon.
@user98121461 that may be, but Amazon is known for their deals. The manufacturer, however, thinks this thing is worth $350
I think the biggest scam of our generation is people calling toaster ovens “air fryers” and getting away with it.
