@tonylegrone I came here to say that too. We’ve only watched the first season so far. Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara are as hilarious as they’ve ever been. Dan Levy is fantastic too.
@melonscoop Season finale in one week. I’v been hoarding up this season on the DVR and avoiding spoilers, but I think Jimmy and Gretchen may or may not get married.
I’ll start watching this season over the weekend and catch the finale as it’s broadcast next Wednesday.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@2many2no Yeah I REALLY hate sitcoms and normal comedies. I can’t recommend this enough. From the innuendo to the comedy aspects of it. It’s a McFarlane show that I hope keeps going. I feel like it takes the best parts of Star Trek and makes it’s own great twist on it.
@reclaimercube I thought the first season was OK, but so far, the writing for the second season has been uber-lame. Stupid, stupid plot lines for a sci-fi show.
@dave Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Now that’s comedy!
On the reruns channel thats on at the same time as the 5’oclock news, it’s the 70’s Show for me. Hilarious especially when you see the character trying not to crack up laughing …
@llangley - Remember that episode where they said- and this is so funny- that they were- [ can’t stop laughing]- you know, uh : “Fair and Balanced!” - killer!
@llangley I’d vote for that as long as you throw in all 24 hr news (CNN, MSNBC, Fox News etc.) as hilarious mockery of what used to be considered journalism! Remember that time that they put on a performance for two years trying to convince everyone that Russia was responsible for Trump? Man, talk about a long build up for a punch line of “Just Kidding, Folks”…
Corner Gas - As Imbd says “The life, or lack thereof, of a proprietor of a gas station, which is the only stop for miles around and a hub of action on the Prairies.”
It’s on Amazon and if you like Canadian humour, check it out… And if you don’t like Canadian humour, you should still give it a try.
@transplant It’s not really a laugh riot comedy, but it’s just sort of… pleasant. I wonder if that’s what it’s like in Saskatchewan. Like Pleasantville.
@ruouttaurmind@transplant I watch it while doing something else. You don’t really need to pay attention. It’s a warm fuzzy comedy. Unlike Happy! which I find incredibly funny, but I feel like only a terrible person would laugh at.
I wasn’t sure what to think about it until I started watching it on Amazon, but “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is well written, well acted, and that which is supposed to be funny (& there is a lot of comedy), is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!
South Park is always clutch, though I have been splitting my sides laughing at Big Mouth on Netflix lately. Marvelous Mrs Maisel is very solid when you feel like watching a show that you wouldnt be slightly embarrassed to have on with company over… Oh yeah, The “Three Robot” episode of Love, Death and Robots also had me chuckling pretty good for 12 minutes of randomness…
@marilyn80s Add your own to the comments.
I believe that that is one of the choices, yes?
Not sure how that is a limitation if one of the choices has no limits.
Santa Clarita Diet is high on my list because I have a completely warped sense of humor. The other is probably technically a drama: Killing Eve - which is funnier than a lot of the sitcoms, for those of us with the aforementioned warped sense of humor.
I came back here for the simple purpose of expressing my disappointment in anyone who said the last man standing was funny. If you love simpleton Jay Leno tonight show rim shot one liners, you found your mind numbing "comedy."it’s just about as entertaining as saying, “that’s what she said” after every other comment. I hate humanity a little more tonight. Bring it on climate change/rapture. We deserve it.
@goldnectar I know PhD mathematicians who like reality TV. If you’re seriously taxing your mind all day, every day, you may want to go for the “dumb” comedy when it’s time to relax.
Entertainment decisions are personal and inconsequential. There’s not much point in being elitist about them.
@goldnectar I feel the same way about a few of the shows mentioned here and a few of some of the most popular recent comedies not mentioned here.
However, I have (finally?) learned that people really don’t like to be told that you hate the thing that they love - or even dislike the thing they like, for that matter.
Who’d a thunk it?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Are these actually TV shows?
I am so damn out of touch…
@shahnm
I’ve heard of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, which looks interesting, but not the rest.
Schitt’s Creek
@tonylegrone I came here to say that too. We’ve only watched the first season so far. Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara are as hilarious as they’ve ever been. Dan Levy is fantastic too.
@SSteve prepare yourself. It only gets better. We just caught up to the most recent episode tonight. Easily one of my top 10 shows, probably top 5.
@SSteve @tonylegrone They just added this to the Roku channel. Best reason to buy a Roku stick ever.
Given those options, it’s definitely The Good Place
Better Things.
@AnotherDawn Also, Broad City.
Saturday Night Live-it can be inconsistent.
It was funny in the '70s, or I was stoned. Or both.
/giphy it’s always sunny
The Good Place and I’m Sorry are my go to shows.
You’re the Worst? Anyone?
@melonscoop Season finale in one week. I’v been hoarding up this season on the DVR and avoiding spoilers, but I think Jimmy and Gretchen may or may not get married.
I’ll start watching this season over the weekend and catch the finale as it’s broadcast next Wednesday.

The Orville
@reclaimercube I’ve actually heard of this one.
@2many2no @reclaimercube I watched the first couple of episodes but quit- I couldn’t stand it. And I’ll watch most anything. Did it get better?
@reclaimercube I’d still vote for The Good Place, but The Orville would be a close second. Both great shows.
@2many2no @sammydog01 once they started diving into the characters backstories it got a lot better
@2many2no @reclaimercube I’ll give it another shot when I find the time.
@reclaimercube I thought the first season was OK, but so far, the writing for the second season has been uber-lame. Stupid, stupid plot lines for a sci-fi show.
@macromeh I loved Alara’s story line
Oh goody! A bunch of things to add on my “say I’ll watch someday but never actually will” list. Even more if I read all the comments.
The Goldberg’s & Letterkenny
There is so much good tv right now, it’s absurd.
@dave Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Now that’s comedy!
Last Man Standing gets my vote. The Orville and The Good Place aren’t far behind.
@Mehrocco_Mole I thought Last Man Standing was canceled, is that not the case? Are there secret episodes out there that I have to watch?
@MagnaVis Watch it tonight (Friday) at 7c/8e on your local Fox channel.
Last Man Standing is the standout
Ahuh. I Go for Last Man Standing.
Don’t know what these are.
I’m still catching up on Archer.
When are they going to make more Futurama?
@2many2no I love Futurama and Matt Browning has another show called “Disenchantment” that I like a lot.
/image Groening
Love “Big Bang Theory”
@emt305 Yeah, the laugh tracks are great!
I voted for the good place, but “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” deserves to be on this list as well
On the reruns channel thats on at the same time as the 5’oclock news, it’s the 70’s Show for me. Hilarious especially when you see the character trying not to crack up laughing …
Big Bang Theory
the office, enough said.
Fox news. It’s fucking hilarious.
Man, talk about a long build up for a punch line of “Just Kidding, Folks”…
Bob’s Burgers. Honorable mention for Archer (the Danger Island storyline redeemed it for me after a few weak seasons).
@dannybeans the best show on TV.
the Goldbergs.
In no particular order:
@mike808 Indeed!!
@mike808 I’m not a huge Larry David fan but the last two are good.
Currently is and always will be Family Guy.
The Grand Tour
@jestermx6 Love those guys!!!
Season 2 starts tonight.
@sammydog01 What show is this?
@zinimusprime Happy!
It’s a show on SyFy based on the comic by Grant Morrison.
@Ignorant @zinimusprime I’m not sure if comedy is the category that fits best but it makes me laugh. A lot.
@sammydog01 @zinimusprime oh yeah it fits in comedy just fine, dark and violent comedy but still comedy.
/image Seinfeld
@eonfifty As funny as Seinfeld was, I believe you lack an understanding of the word ‘currently’.
@zinimusprime
It’s on five days a week in my television market
@eonfifty Touche.
Superstore! It’s on Hulu, I don’t know if it has a normal run time on TV.
/image Superstore Show
@MagnaVis I watched this when it t first came out. I should get caught up.
@transplant We just started it. Lining it up for when we finish the BBT full run.
@transplant I really like Corner Gas too.
@transplant It’s not really a laugh riot comedy, but it’s just sort of… pleasant. I wonder if that’s what it’s like in Saskatchewan. Like Pleasantville.
@ruouttaurmind @transplant I watch it while doing something else. You don’t really need to pay attention. It’s a warm fuzzy comedy. Unlike Happy! which I find incredibly funny, but I feel like only a terrible person would laugh at.
@sammydog01
Yes! Exactly. I can have it on while cooking supper, tidying the house, folding laundry… and it’s just sort of emoting happy vibes from the TV.
I wasn’t sure what to think about it until I started watching it on Amazon, but “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is well written, well acted, and that which is supposed to be funny (& there is a lot of comedy), is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!
@tohar1 yes, Tony Shaloub is particularly great as the Dad. (he was awesome in Monk as well)
KRULL! A SKULL! BRETT HULL! AWESOME!
@tohar1 I haven’t watched it yet but planning on it.
@braves4886 Love, Death and Robots is my favorite recent discovery.
Reminded me of “Heavy Metal” (1981 movie).
Friends from College! Omg I haven’t laughed so hard in ages.
Why are these our only choices?
@marilyn80s Add your own to the comments.
I believe that that is one of the choices, yes?
Not sure how that is a limitation if one of the choices has no limits.
Bob’s Burgers
The Office. Duh.
/giphy dwight
C-SPAN. Enough said.
@Durago You’ve clearly confused comedy with tragedy.
Wait until you get a load of the double spin-off series, the White House Press Briefings and the (at)realDonaldTrump Twitter Feed.
You will never have cried so hard after watching.
@mike808 It has elements of both, but you’re not really wrong.
Santa Clarita Diet is high on my list because I have a completely warped sense of humor. The other is probably technically a drama: Killing Eve - which is funnier than a lot of the sitcoms, for those of us with the aforementioned warped sense of humor.
@rockblossom interesting, I didn’t realize that Killing Eve was funny! That makes me want to check it out, looks kinda good
@moonhat The humor bends toward the darkish and twisty, landing somewhere between Fargo and Arsenic and Old Lace.
Ash vs the Evil Dead!
I came back here for the simple purpose of expressing my disappointment in anyone who said the last man standing was funny. @goldnectar So your purpose here is to let other mehtizens know how stupid you think they are?
@goldnectar I know PhD mathematicians who like reality TV. If you’re seriously taxing your mind all day, every day, you may want to go for the “dumb” comedy when it’s time to relax.
Entertainment decisions are personal and inconsequential. There’s not much point in being elitist about them.
@Limewater Sometimes when I’m feeling like a bad mother I watch an episode of Toddlers and Tiaras. It cheers me right up.
@sammydog01 I don’t watch that show. I do however watch people watch that show. That’s enough for me.
/youtube cinnamontoastken toddlers tiaras
@RiotDemon And now I’m watching their reviews of Dr Phil.
@sammydog01 yayyyyy!
@goldnectar I feel the same way about a few of the shows mentioned here and a few of some of the most popular recent comedies not mentioned here.
However, I have (finally?) learned that people really don’t like to be told that you hate the thing that they love - or even dislike the thing they like, for that matter.

@flossfanman is there a show called boobs? Or did you just want to see some boobs…
