When my mom emigrated to the US she went to college. In one of her classes the professor asked “do you like country music?” And in her limited understanding of the English language she answered, “depends from what country”
@mellowirishgent I cant find anything official but I would say 2-5watts (further research makes me think it might actually be bigger than I thought. So maybe 10 watts) based on size and battery.
@darkzrobe now that i have it i can confirm 2w x 2 total 4 watts and its very loud and clear like maybe double that wattage at a minimum cant find fault with this and i’m looking hard i got the black and gold and its simply beautiful
You don’t have to connect to bluetooth, exclusively. It comes with an auxiliary connector to plug in to any 3.55mm jack. When I received it I took the speaker right out of the box connected to my phone, then tablet, and last to laptop (using standard sound setup on laptop) to test for volume, bass, and treble. Selected a jazz musical composition from youtube and to my delight, I liked the sound. (The musical selection was Hey Arnold Groove Remote Lockjaw 1Hour loop - jazz and hiphop. Speaker delivered the bass and other good sounds) An appreciable difference with the speaker. Next selection I played some classical music for studying and relaxation and it delivered a very good sound, as well. Played “rain and thunder” and sounded like I was outside in the rain. I think it is a good $14 investment.
@KaRaS Does it play while charging? In other words can I just leave it plugged in and ignore the battery? Many of these things don’t play while charging. Thanks in advance
@picaman Now that you mentioned it, I plugged it in to charge and got the jack to plug into the phone. I was able to play and charge. As time permitted I was able to play and charge for a few minutes. I don’t believe that bem didn’t say you could or should in their literature. Hope that helps.
@2many2no I just boxed some of those exact speakers up yesterday and shipped them back to the seller (Not meh). The Bluetooth didn’t work from the outset and after a couple of hours playing on AUX they started stuttering and quit. They were the third set of powered speakers I’ve bought and returned in the past couple of weeks due to defective Bluetooth, or simply not working at all. It’s not user error, in each case I tried to enable bluetooth while on the phone with tech support and verified that the device was not engaging Bluetooth (or in one case even powering up). Very frustrating.
@mikibell For clarification, only one set of returns was these Philips ones. The doa ones were IHome, and the best of the lot, okay on aux but no functioning bluetooth were Sykik brand.
Too bad this wasn’t for sale 3 weeks ago or so…It’s “We Fest” weekend up here in these parts & I could’ve taken serious advantage of the 100K drunk rednecks who show up for what normal people call “Hick Fest”. I bet I could have sold these for $25-30/each!! Two things hillbillies always have…Money & Beer!!![WE FEST][1]
I almost bought one of these yesterday on Morningsave while bored on a long car trip. I bought a pair of JLab headphones instead. So I’ll get one of these today for my country music loving daughter.

Really love the retro look, so I’m kicking off my Christmas shopping early. Hoping this one gets fought over at the office White Elephant exchange. We have a few guys who dabble in garage bands.
One of the Amazon reviews said you have to hold the on button down for five seconds, and that’s not in the manual. Posting this to maybe save someone some aggravation.
@wew Press down the Volume knob and you will hear the speaker activate. Then lift your finger once it is. To confirm look on the back of the speaker for the flashing blue light next to the bluetooth icon and the cable port. I hope this helps.
WOW Got this today and it more then exceeds expectations, for a 4w speaker it delivers very nice volume and bass and treble i’m very happy and will by 10 more as gifts when it comes back around you are not going to get a finer speaker for 14 bucks period, well done Meh team.
Got mine as well…Love it. Beats the Ankers on Amazon at half the price. And while on the subject, The Carlos Santana bag (for my wife, she loved it) and the M Pulse headphones MEH offered awhile back are also great…MEH gets 5 stars from me…
Mine doesn’t want to play or have any fun at all. Not with bluetooth, not with the aux cable.
To be fair, though, I haven’t tried it with country music. So perhaps it is just being stubborn.
I have it plugged in, and when I press the volume button to start to pair it, the blue light flashes once and that is it (it is supposed to blink rapidly). Anyone else have a stubborn one?

Really? Another bluetooth speaker. Are you kidding me?
@cengland0 you do know where you are, yes?
@Thumperchick, “…you’re in the jungle baby…”
It would be great if there was a place on it to store your phone.
@norman8 like some sort of… dock? That’s also a speaker? What madness is this?
@norman8 @Thumperchick

@narfcake - Brilliant image! But I’m dying to click the clickface disco balls.
Ahh a Bass nob (how cute), like you could actually have bass at that wattage.
@darkzrobe how much is the wattage?
@ruthwik1 I cant find anything official. But given it’s size and battery, 2-5watts (Maybe 10 watts if you are lucky) max.
@darkzrobe Let’s call it a “lower midrange” knob. I wonder what the frequency range is. Maybe “tuned for country” just means “no bass”?
@darkzrobe I am looking for 10-15 watt range for my personal computer in living room, I hope I can find one in next 1-2 weeks.
@darkzrobe, you can’t have bass at that wattage? I think you don’t understand what bass is.
@krock1 Fine not good sounding bass? Better?
@ruthwik1 Why not just buy some computer speakers?
@ruthwik1 2wx2
Is it Bem or is it Maxell?
@KDemo No, it’s
/image Memorex.
@2many2no - Lol! I wrote Memorex first, then looked it up and changed it. Are you an old enough goat to remember that ad?
@KDemo I am!
@KDemo I may still have a mixtape or two.
@KDemo this bit from Stay Tuned trips my memory up on maxell/memorex
Wow…even I would take purple over that piss yellow one.
@somf69 I ain’t never seen no driftwood that color.
@somf69
/image piss yellow speaker
@therealjrn Depends on what it was drifting in.
@mehcuda67 I ain’t gonna go skinny dipping in that river!
@somf69 I like that yellow!
the only country album I own…Almost Blue
Yes…its been too long!!!
When my mom emigrated to the US she went to college. In one of her classes the professor asked “do you like country music?” And in her limited understanding of the English language she answered, “depends from what country”
@ihaveyoursox
That is the correct response.
Is there somewhere to mount a CRKT knife?
@CraigDanger
/image duct tape
I actually like the looks, maybe it’s because I live in Henderson County Texas about as country as you can get…
@Jasonf1984 If that ain’t country, you can kiss my ass.

@sligett

@therealjrn I was hoping to find something like

But giphy wouldn’t for “my ass”.
@sligett Suuuuuure you were…
/giphy my ass
@therealjrn You mean Kiss my Grits!
@moondrake That would have been much better. I was trying to quote a popular country song. But the lyics are a little different than what i said. lol
amazon says its 7 inches…anyone know wattage? yellow one is 45 bucks on AZ
@mellowirishgent I cant find anything official but I would say 2-5watts (further research makes me think it might actually be bigger than I thought. So maybe 10 watts) based on size and battery.
@darkzrobe My guess 3 watts per speaker
@mellowirishgent - I guess 11.
@darkzrobe now that i have it i can confirm 2w x 2 total 4 watts and its very loud and clear like maybe double that wattage at a minimum cant find fault with this and i’m looking hard i got the black and gold and its simply beautiful
Grabbed the ebony beautiful item , this is a no brainer
@mellowirishgent
/giphy no brain
@mellowirishgent No purple no buy.

I’m gonna take the bold stand that the blue one actually looks pretty nice. They all could be marketed as “retro speaker cabinets” or similar.
@awk It is pretty. I like the nostalgic look and it sounds pretty good.
@awk Yeah. Makes me think of smoky jazz clubs.
I think the era of iDevice speaker docks domination is dead at meh. Long live the reign of portable bluetooth speakers!!!
@bbf Thank God (or meh.).
Someone enjoys their HEB soda.
@bxm83 yes indeed

@picaman according to amazon yes you can use while charging
I like the look of it… But I can’t justify buying any more speakers.
@RiotDemon It’s less than the cost of a decent, civilized lunch (+tip). Plus they do have a certain style…
@therealjrn you’re not convincing me to buy it.
@RiotDemon But they do have a certain “look.” Come on, you know you want one. You can’t buy a bag of groceries for $14.
Here, you can buy an enduring testament to your flair, your sense of style and your eye for the unusual.
@therealjrn maybe you should work for meh.
Nope nope nope.
And technically, I could buy a bag of groceries for $14. Potatoes are cheap.
@RiotDemon Potatoes, like all your other speakers are quite ordinary. lol
I think the Singing Cowboy should have been featured in the writeup.
Almost had me there. But I want a Bluetooth speaker that runs on AC not battery power.
@moondrake Too late
Philips Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers
@2many2no wish I woulda seen them damn I missed them

@moondrake So far, I’ve been lucky.
I leave mine on 24/7 connected to Dot.
Sound is better than expected for the price.
This month, it’s my fault. Sorry yours didn’t work.
(Glad you could at least return them.)
@moondrake oh, I gave a set of those to my parents and they were nice sounding and easy to setup the bluetooth…
@mikibell For clarification, only one set of returns was these Philips ones. The doa ones were IHome, and the best of the lot, okay on aux but no functioning bluetooth were Sykik brand.
Ahhh the world is right again…
Meh is selling a bluetooth speaker.

@Carebear Love the gif. Everyone needs a hobby.
@sammydog01 you notice that his clothes are baggy? Wonder if he could do that with properly fitting pants.
@RiotDemon Point taken, but it’s hard to find size 28 waist pants in the men’s section. Source: my skinny husband and his skinny friends.
@Carebear I think my ex had the best luck at Kohls. He was very thin and tall.
I’m pretty sure the guy purposely wore baggy clothes for the video though.
Love the look of the blue one…

Meh. For the love of all that is holy, Meh. Meh. Meh.
What a bunch of F holes.
@ThatsHeadly I see what you did there.

thank you @skimmehs for using something other than “GD” !!!

@KaRaS connected blue tooth in under 10 seconds to my Samsung G3
@mellowirishgent I hope you are enjoying your speaker.

Where are the HEB sodas from
@CrossIT My guess is they are from HEB.

@CrossIT Breakroom fridge, second shelf.
Funny: There is not a single H.E.B. store in Dallas/Ft Worth.
@Flipit thanks for a real answer. It peaked my interest when I saw the photo
Does it come with the HEB soda? Those pure cane sugar ones are mighty tasty.
I have NEVER had good luck with anything BEM, so MEH… Thx but no thanks
In for one. Now when people say they hate country music I can throw this at their face. What else should I use it for, playing tiny music?
WOW Got this today and it more then exceeds expectations, for a 4w speaker it delivers very nice volume and bass and treble i’m very happy and will by 10 more as gifts when it comes back around you are not going to get a finer speaker for 14 bucks period, well done Meh team.
@mellowirishgent You’re in luck, they’re for sale on morningsave. 40 cents more than here with your vmp.
P.S. the packaging is superb … looks like a $75.00 unit all day long !!
@mellowirishgent Shhh. If you praise it too much they’ll raise the price like they did with the moldy robes! a 20% price increase! ack!
THESE BEM SPEAKERS SUCK!
Tested using 3.5mm aux in.
Best sounding Bem so far… very good bass.
suggested meh price: $14-15
The treble and bass knobs are ‘soft’ that is they spin forever and the bass/treble is done in software.
The plastic on the front (the grill) cracks and pops whenever I pick it up, but generally this is a decent speaker for the price.
tested using edm, not certain of its ability to to play boot scootin’ musics.
Got mine as well…Love it. Beats the Ankers on Amazon at half the price. And while on the subject, The Carlos Santana bag (for my wife, she loved it) and the M Pulse headphones MEH offered awhile back are also great…MEH gets 5 stars from me…

@kathyl Reviews say you need to hold the on button for at least 5 seconds. Try longer?
@sammydog01 THANK YOU! I was being much too impatient I guess. Or perhaps it is really me who is the stubborn one!
It is now working - quite nicely, too. Thanks again!
@kathyl Woo hoo!
Been using mine for a month now, sounds great but the battery life is a little disappointing.
Still, at this price a fantastic buy.
