@Kyeh yes. There was a user named Barney who responded to any colour comment that she loved Purple. I’m not sure if Barneybot was also runny Barney or someone else.
@OnionSoup Yes, I know who Barney is and how she loves purple and made everyone wonder if she was a bot; but I wasn’t really aware of the “Barneybot is not a real bot” thing.
@Kyeh apparently the response was “@Barneybot isn’t a real bot” and was triggered by Purple!
Did a google to find that out. Looks like 2019/2020 that trigger word was active.

The bot certainly seems to have been a lot more active in the past.
During the goldenage, when Pasta Drop was a thing, if you said something like “Spaghetti” or “Penne” Mediocrebot would respond “Ah Yes, the Penne”. Not sure when it stopped, it still said that for a short while after Pasta Drop ended if I recall correctly.

Hmmm… I see an awesome software programming opportunity: feed an entire dictionary, word by word, into comments on a thread to determine which words trigger Mediocrebot. Sadly, my programming skills have declined since I left the computer field 17 years ago.

@heartny I remember seeing somewhere that the words the bot spews are lyrics from some song - do you know about that?
@heartny @ItalianScallion For a bot I think WD-40 would be more appropriate, and I’m pretty sure the old gen stuff at least had flammable components.

this method might not work but is least noticable of all… crossing fingers:

Yayhey! It worked! awesome. (using the zero width joiner character between e and s if anyone was wondering)… How I did it:
1: Open charmap.exe (in windows search bar just type charmap)
2: click advanced check box.
3: Pick character set “Unicode” and Go to Unicode “200D”
4: Hit “Select” then hit “Copy”- you now have an invisible character with no width copied and can paste it in the middle of a word like awesome so Mediocrebot won’t recognise it.

@capnjb it became a challenge… finding how many ways to fool mediocrebot that I could. Trying to find the most awesome way to do it. Yeah, I sometimes (often) go over the top.
@OnionSoup I think I’m going to make a set of ‘Celebrating ADHD with a splash of OCD’ mugs and send them out to all my brethren. But who are we kidding? I’ll probably be doing something else
