Z-Man Games got the (North?) American publishing rights to this year's Spiel des Jahres Winner, "Camel Up". They're probably printing now for a fall distribution, though it may be too late / already on a boat.
Just as long as you're aware that anything we get is probably not going to be top-20 ranked on BoardGameGeek
speaking of guess who just managed to get their hands on a copy of Caverna
I would love this because they're normally so expensive, even older ones.
I have a feeling the reason you can't really find the best ones for cheap anywhere is because they won't sell them to anyone for that cheap.
So yeah, sadly I think we're more likely to get a bunch of Monopoly or other Ameritrash games.
Maybe if they knew that there was a buyer out there, they might be willing to sign a deal that allows unsold retail copies to be returned/reclaimed or whatever the term is. I suspect they force all the risk onto the retailers or distributors out of necessity.
A lot of the pubs listed above do most of their games in smallish print runs anyway. More popular ones like Catan or Pandemic might be printed constantly, but a new game might be published in a fairly small initial batch to reduce risk.
@harrison STOP CRUSHING MY DREAMS WITH REALITY
Let's go vintage, who's up for a game of Yuppie?
@GenCurmudgeon I'll see your Yuppies and raise you a game of Hotels

@bluedyn you'll only see my yuppies if you upgrade the amenities in your hotels...
@GenCurmudgeon The jar of gummy worms and bowl of cherry flavored tea bags aren't appealing?
@bluedyn I'd kill for those gummy worms. I think the guy in the picture would too, though.
@JerseyFrank: Glad to see you're back online. We're missing you in the hunt.
