On hackaday.com you can buy a little tiny board for $6.97 that has wifi, can run off a cr3032 battery for years (if it only wakes up on a button press), and has the input for multiple buttons and leds. That is quantity one pricing. Probably under $2 each in large quantities, and the cost would drop over time.
