Amazon's having a Prime-Off on July 15th
6It looks like they're doing a day of deals for Prime members.

I guess we'll have to price match against meh, since we normally meh-match against the 'zon.

It's good to be Prime!
oh shit, goodbye money
Christmas in July!
Oh, wait. I like "Zon-a-thon" better. They should call it that instead.
They need to have a sale on Prime itself. I could join for . . . maybe $5 per month?
@KDemo it's called V.M.P. lol
@RicoSuave sorry, I couldn't help myself after seeing your name
@RicoSuave - I was thinking VPP.
@mfladd as soon as that video started, i,of course, had this going through my head:
@mfladd I couldn't help myself either :(
@earlyre Now I have these feels.
I buy shit everyday from Amazon. I don't expect the 15th to be any different.
Looks like another good opportunity to buy low and sell high . . . As many of you know, I work in photo / video - one of the highest markups a retailer enjoys (industry wide) is on "pro-sumer" grade (high end, prior to professional) camera and video gear - and every Black Friday I'll buy a bunch of gear from Amazon to flip in January. This year the Sony a6000 was so deeply discounted at Amazon that they resold after Jan. 1 for $200+ profit - each camera! Amazon heavily discounts in that category in order to bundle their own overpriced SD cards, HDMI cables, etc., so if you're interested, watch for huge discounts that day on pro-sumer grade camera and video, and you'll probably walk away a winner - even if you're just in need of an upgrade yourself, and you're not buying to sell later.
@Pavlov Good tip. I'll be sure to buy them all before you can! Thanks!
Oh great, just what my bruised and battered credit cards need.
Double dipping here, those of you who are Discover card holders, this month is 5% cash back at Amazon.com so make sure to activate!
@Collin1000 hmm - 'didn't get that memo. Thought it was home improvement quarter for Discover.
@RedOak It's 5% Discover cash back at home improvement stores, department stores AND Amazon this quarter.
@gio excellent. Will have to change our Amazon payment card temporarily from our use-it-only-online card to our Discover card. Thank you both! @Collin1000
Hopefully this goes better than the treasure truck thing.
@metaphore But, don't you live in the six-block radius in Seattle where they were doing the Treasure Truck?? Our straw poll says almost 100% of all Treasure Truck purchasers do!!
@PocketBrain Straw Pole?
I just realized that if AMZN is putting up new deals for Prime members every ten minutes for 24 hours- it's a WootOff.
@OldCatLady What I really want to know is whether they'll have BeeOhCees, and, if so, what they'll call them. I would LOVE to see them deliver 'surprise packages' by drone to random Prime contestants, no purchase required. That ought to bypass the 'commercial use of drones' laws.
@OldCatLady Amazon has used it's considerable power to get the FFA to give them a waiver for commercial drone restrictions. This would be a good test I think.
http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2015/04/10/faa_gives_amazon_permission_to_test_delivery_drones_in_the_u_s.html
@OldCatLady actually, it will be better deals than a woot off automatically, since woot off prices are just amazon prime price minus the $5 shipping ;)
Their promos make reference to Black Friday so I hope that's the sale model, rather than some sort of Ama-thon or Bez-off.
So, we can sign up for the Prime free trial, buy shit cheap, and then cancel, right?
@brhfl Yes.
Look for a $75 32 inch LED HDTV, $115 for a 40 inch . . . Huge savings as I anticipated in photo/video - Sony Alpha 3000 w/ kit lens for under $150 (sources say closer to $100 or lower on lightning deal - this is a $300 camera all day long and a great little interchangeable lens camera for a beginner), HUGE savings (over half off) on Nikon COOLPIX cameras and up to 75% off Warehouse Deals and Outlet (yes, Amazon has an Outlet Store on their site) in electronics. These will go F A S T ! ! ! ! !
The better deal may be Wal-Mart - which is dropping prices like crazy for 90 days, especially on Apple products and high end electronic items - only a precious few will get the Amazon deals - everyone will have a chance to snag an iPad Mini 2 for $175 off. That's lower than refurb eBay prices for the same tablet.
Personally, I'll probably sit most of this out - I'm getting busy again and feeling better - so I want to get back to work - but mostly because as I have said previously, if it isn't something I'd normally purchase from Amazon (and our offices purchase daily - as well as @MrsPavlov hitting my wallet most every damn day too) I'm really not wanting the frustration of Amazon Black Friday shopping (and it can be very frustrating) in the middle of July.
Although, my birthday is a week from today @MrsPavlov . . . (HINT).
@Pavlov 21? 22?
@mfladd More than double that . . . But, shhhhh.
@Pavlov Ha! - what day old man? mine is the 22nd.
@mfladd 21st - sorry.

@studerc admit it. You're most psyched about the 60% discount on baby wipes.
@nadroj You have no idea...its already up and ready to go!
@studerc @nadroj they are really good baby wipes. I have gone through a total of 8 boxes of them. It works out to just over a month per box. I've only paid full price for 1 box. It's awesome! They even called me to do a survey.
@nadroj I actually needed wipes and your post reminded me to get some. Thanks
Thank you for posting this, by the way. I'm really hoping to snag two 40 inch tvs. We're still using tube tvs and that's a price I could upgrade at.
The butthurt is strong around the internet about the "Prime Day Fail". Obviously, none of these people have heard of a Woot Off.
@PurplePawprints If you have any interest in retro gaming (any system with a cartridge), you may want to keep one around or packed away.
@dashcloud You can always use a computer with an input card and there are filters to make it look similar... not as good imho, but I'd rather not store a tube TV/lug it around.
@dashcloud My son just picked up an "old tube tv" this past weekend for his retro games. He says he can't stand the high pitched sound coming from the TV. I can't hear it, but he and his dad are both sensitive to that sound. But he doesn't like these older systems on his HD TV. Help?? Should he continue picking up discarded TVs left by the road until he finds one with a more tolerable pitch??
@sohmageek I will mention this to him as an option over the TV.
@Prissy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharp_Nintendo_Television Good luck finding one
@Prissy Maybe… CRTs are just full of whiny, noisy bits that get worse with age, and… well, they're all aging by now. But surely some are noisier than others, so if he's set on it, by all means keep grabbin' 'em up off the street!
@Prissy Depending on money and how authentic you need the experience, you've got a few options:
CRT/Tube TVs
This very cool scanline generator- makes your LCD TV much closer to a tube TV.
After-market mods/hacks to add in HDMI to your console
The Retrode- play your original cartridges on any device with a USB port with your favorite emulator
So... This is kinda lame
@DaveInSoCal I took an early morning look when i was feeding Charlotte. A few decent deals but you have to be RIGHT THERE when it pops up or youll miss it.

http://amazon.com/primemusic
It made me download a player on windows and log in with my amazon, but it lists the following as rules:
@thismyusername Yeah, okay, off to play some music. Got lots of paperwork today. The only thing I ever win are Fukus though.
@thismyusername Just played the first song listed, Foo Fighter's Rope. I won a Bud light speakerdoc tower from a grocery store once. Fukus twice but I guess I'm a robot so I no longer can qualify ;p
Walmart wise, not much beside some minor roll-backs
@StrangerDanger Got a couple of Swimways Spring floats at Walmart this morning. I had a box of them here, but my darling husband put them away so well last year, he can't find them this.
I checked out the Walmart site yesterday, they were too spendy. Rollbacks this morning. Yay! Win!
