I bought a halo brand, I think I still have that has the flashlight on it but I don’t think it has a fan on it. I know it’s silver and is long and rectangular like those are. I’m pretty sure it’s still in my drawer where it has been since I bought it about 10 years ago.
@goldnectar I used some of the 10’ LED light strips that came in a 10-pack on an earlier Meh offering run around the inside of closets and pantry doors, added a door switch and these (the ones that came with the bendy fans in a different Meh offering) powered the lights whenver the door was opened. With the low power consumption and the fact that the doors were nearly always closed, i only have to recharge these every 8-10 months or so. YMMV, but that was my use case.
/showme Indiana Jones upon discovering the floor of the Well of Souls is covered with pink pocket chargers rather than snakes saying, “Pink… why did it have to be pink?”
The form factor looks like there’s a single 18650 inside, and that pretty much says 4500mAh is baloney. At five for fifteen bucks, if I thought they had a decent-quality 3200mAh cell inside, I’d grab two sets to cannibalize for the batteries. Planned purchase, zero. (If they actually have a capacity of 3000mAh and they hold a charge for more than two months, they might be worthwhile for a lot of people, but I have better power banks already, so…)
@werehatrack I think someone that buys this should do a tear down for all of us so that we can see the 18650 guts. Maybe it’s a good manufacturer … ha ha ha, that’s a funny one.
I generally look at the proffered object and then move on. About once a week I will read the “hard sell” commentary. This one was worth the two minutes I devoted to it — and the additional five to log in and add this note. Thanks for the midnight entertainment! I can go to bed with a smile.
(Not that I’m going to buy it, of course. Just before reading this I plugged in my iPhone for a quick 30-minute change that will last me for the next two days. I still don’t understand the need people have for battery packs like this.)
You’d think they’d mention the cable length and whether they’re data or charge-only cables. That might help sales. Or, might not… Maybe that’s why there’s no mention.
Only in basic USB2.0 mode (2.1A max, or 12W). The 17 does not refuse to accept power from a source that only supports USB 2, it just won’t charge very fast. Slow is better than nothing, but see comments above about the probable reliability of the capacity claim.

@outz if they did they would certainly need a remote control
If you think I need to put a cylindrical shaped object in my pocket, think again.
And no…I’m not just happy to see you.

@cfg83 @mediocrebot Or a pet training treat pouch, come to thing of it.
I bought some of these 5 or 10 years ago that had the flashlight and capacity was 2,000mah. I see no mention of a built-in flashlight.
Hard Pass meH
@dahobbs9 They also had little bendy USB fans you could plug in! I still have a bunch of them and use them often for this and that.
@dahobbs9 It would need a righteous 18650 battery to deliver 4500mAh. I would be more inclined to believe 5 * 900mAh = 4500mAh .

This is typical meh crap. It seems like a good deal, but then you think wtf would I use this for? Would I ever use them?
@goldnectar
And I never did use them from a decade ago lol

I love you, meh, I’m still subscribed, but you’re kinda talking me out of it.
Gimme some cheap snacks
Pink…. Why’d they have to be…. pink?
@Perfect_Timing Not pink! Sand

Sand…. Why’d they have to be…. sand?
I generally try to keep sand out of my pockets.

@user49870070 agree! Except I’m reading in the morning. My 12-year-old mind got a chuckle out of “fudge shop” for some reason? I need coffee

@llangley @user49870070 This one?

@user49870070
Your phone charge last more than a day? I also have like 45 tabs open on my phone right now so that doesn’t help.
4500 mAh? They belong in a museum!

@richrauch They’re 1-foot USB-A to USB-C cables. Not sure if they do data or not… but maybe!
@richrauch They’re data only.
@rpstrong That would be marvelously pointless.
Do these work for the iPhone 17?

What am i supposed to do with 12W? lol
