@yakkoTDI No the deal just plain stinks. Also a lot of things in aroma air fresheners and scented candles, etc. are not good for you/your lungs and can cause cancer. A big no from me for those reasons alone.
@joeywolf I came to ask the same thing.
Convenient 3-Pack: Each set includes three candles, providing great value and ensuring you always have a spare for future use or gifting…yet main description says 4-Pack.
@highonpez
Just did a quick Google search with the same question. As far as I can see soy wax is a renewable resource, burns longer, burns cleaner, and releases far few toxins into the air.
From everything I can find, Soy wax candles are far better than normal wax.
I couldn’t really find anything to support sticking with older natural wax candles over soy or similar wax candles.
Though I should add that beeswax is the desired wax because it’s non-toxic and clean burning but comes with a premium price.
So I’m thinking natural wax < Soy wax < Bees wax
@highonpez I wondered the same and the best theory I can craft for such weirdness is something like:
“Soy contains phytoestrogens, which are antioxidants with a similar structure to estrogen. Because of this, soy has been called an endocrine disruptor, meaning it could mimic estrogen in the body and potentially cause hormone overload. However, the research on soy and its effects on hormones is conflicting.”
But, as best I can tell, that “caution” is for consuming soy, not using it as a base for some (good-?)smelling candles…
@theonlybuster By “natural wax” do you mean paraffin? Because I agree that soy seems better than paraffin, since that’s made from petroleum distillates.
@andymand The phytoestrogen has been a thing in weird right-wing circles for a few years now and is just a weird culture war thing. If soy was “feminizing”, I know a ton of people who would be eating soy all the time. In reality, its just a bunch of weirdos getting worked up because they saw the word estrogen and made up a story to get angry at.
I been coming here awhile, rarely log in except for an occasional purchase, but logged in just to say this might be this single most worthless (to me, anyways) item I have ever seen offered. Thank you, carry on.
My husband lights a cigar when it’s his turn to scoop the box (it’s just about the only time I don’t bitch, moan, & complain about him lighting up in the house). One smell does cancel out the other in a “worst of both worlds sort of way,” and the box IS getting scooped by someone who is NOT me, but damn! What a price to pay.

This deal is stinking hot!!

But do they smell like a D-Rank celebs nether regions?
@mikesmells seems there is no tuna scent, sorry.
Is that cursive or penis?
@Num1Zero I’m going with dong.
Soy wax is NOT natural. I would much rather have all natural beeswax.
@hchavers If you ask what’s in these and they say “none of your beeswax,” is that informative or evasive?
@hchavers @ParadisePete well it could be my beeswax…
4-pack, 3-pack?
@joeywolf I guess someone in the warehouse separated them into singles?

@joeywolf And that quickly it’s been fixed!
Did you say “soy”? NO!
@AaronLeeJohnson
Kinda curious… Why such a strong no?
Genuinely asking.

Can someone explain to me why people are being weird about the candles being made of soy wax?

@LaVikinga Just get the big baby some nose clips
@LaVikinga I mean I use Lysol and Febreze. Are you saying I should take up cigar smoking (ew!) ?
@phonepole So you’re saying you WON’T choose that lady’s husband?
FYI digging in to the linked Amazon product page there are label photos confirming these are Made in China.
@pmarin So maybe “soy wax” in name only?
@pmarin @werehatrack I’d think they’d have plenty of soy in China.
@Kyeh @pmarin @werehatrack So what do they do in china with their excess earwax?
… just wondering…
@Kyeh @pmarin @werehatrack Nah, it’s all in my Chinese take-out dinner garbage bag.
