@gdorn@jcpseattle All good! I’m flex but live with a strict vegetarian so I didn’t want to present some delicious noodle meals she couldn’t eat. The “chicken flavored” sauce is all mine.
@gdorn@highonpez this is good to know- I’d only checked the pasta. I’m recently lactose intolerant so the spicy sauce will have to just be enjoyed by the rest of my family.
@MarkDaSpark Go easy on the flavor packet. That will help with the sodium. Throw some fish sauce in it if the flavor is weak. We use Red Boat which is not super salty. It is kinda expensive though.
@MarkDaSpark My mistake. This has the seasoning already in the bowl. But for future reference the fish sauce is excellent and is not super strong or smelly.
@MarkDaSpark@tweezak My usual strategy with instant ramen is to use half the flavor packet and add some sambal oelek. It typically has very little added salt and is around $15 per gallon if you’re near a grocery store that carries the large jugs.
@brennyn@MarkDaSpark Have you ever tried Spicy Chili Crisp? Not super spicy but has a delicious flavor (probably loaded with MSG). Go find it and thank me later.
Warning: the oil will get everywhere and will stain.
@brennyn@MarkDaSpark I remember my mom used to have a container of something called Accent in the cupboard. I never knew what it was and neither did she until probably 40 years later when she found out it is MSG.
@MarkDaSpark@tweezak This is the stuff my Grandfather’s doctor recommended when he started having heart problems that required watching sodium intake. The idea was that a given amount had a lot more flavor than regular table salt. In practice, he like the taste enough that he used more.
I get the generics that outright say “MSG” on the bottle.
The sodium is a problem with many foods. About three years ago I was eating lunch at home and finished my second sour pickle. I was idly reading the pickle bottle and saw that one serving was a third of one pickle! And I’m aware of sodium intake generally. (My present pickle bottle gives a serving as half a pickle-they are smaller than the other brand).
@chienfou@visioneer_one the only flat rate shipping options through usps would be a first class letter or flat rate envelope/box. When I sell products online to people in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, of USVI, the shipping cost is normally is much higher than when I ship to somebody in the contiguous 48 states.
@Nevermind1534@visioneer_one
I know they are mandated to deliver first class mail anywhere in the US at one flat rate. That’s part of the problem with their costs/expenditures.
A quick test of the USPS price calculator shows there IS a difference between shipping the same package to Miami and shipping to the Virgin Islands.
I absolutely love these Tangle creamy mushroom bowls. I’ve tried the other flavors too but this one is my favorite. Not the best pasta of my life of course but cooks quickly with a very good chew to it and adding some Parmesan helps too. Certainly not a huge portion but perfect for when I want more than a snack but less than a meal (sometimes I’ll stir in some baby spinach after it’s cooked to edge it closer to the meal side). Definitely paid over $20 for 6 pack on Amazon and I think was going for around $3 bowl the last time I got from Hmart. I’m excited to try with the Buldak sauce now.
@kicchoutenshi agreed! I typically buy these at BJ’s for almost double the price. You can chuck in some frozen veggies and some shredded rotisserie chicken to make it a full on meal in less than 10 minutes.
Whelp! They mentioned me by name so I guess I’m obligated to buy this. I just hope it doesn’t taste like my mom’s poor-man’s Mac and cheese that’s mostly made with a can of cream of mushroom soup. I’m looking forward to trying the sauce, though.
I thought about this for a few days… and before I considered pulling the water gun trigger, I went to Aldi and picked one up for $3 bucks. I guess this will be my breakfast vehicle for collagen peptides every morning.
After years of being a VMP ghost, y’all got me breaking bread with y’all again (aside from the $5 I wasn’t getting my full benefits from for years)
Mine just arrived in time for a late lunch! I like it, especially the chewiness of the noodles. I just might order some more.
The sauce is VERY hot IMO, but I only like things mildly spicy, so @djslack, you’ll probably like it. It (the sauce) does have a nice flavor, though. It reminds me of gochujang.
@Kyeh I do like a chewy noodle (I love udon!) and I’m particular to things that people call very spicy.
I had held off on this because I really don’t need to put 18 tubs of pasta in my pantry and my sister said she’s giving me one of her bottles of the hot sauce because there’s no way they need two. But you’re tempting me and I do see it’s still available.
@djslack Hah - sorry for being a bad influence! I just had to rearrange some things to store what I got (so I guess I won’t be getting more.)
Udon is my favorite.
Fedex says they delivered, but the package is not there. This seems to be a trend with Fedex misrepresenting the delivery date, then the package showing up the next day, so I guess I’ll wait until tomorrow or Monday to report if it doesn’t show up.
This may be my favorite deal of the year so far! These are delicious. 15 grams of protein and only takes 5 minutes in the microwave, sign me up. I’ve already eaten 2 of them. I’ve been known to open Buldak just to get the sauce out. Had no idea you could even buy the sauce on it’s own so that was a nice surprise! I was not the buyer on this deal and I paid for these mostly with my hard earned stores.com cash I may order too much from our sites…
Just got these and I really enjoy the flavor. Sure they have plenty of sodium but still less than many other ramen products. They also have lots of protein and dietary fiber, so I think one could do far worse than these for a quick lunch.
I am very tempted to buy another shipment of these before they’re gone
Edit: decided to buy another. These might be one of the best prepackaged ramen/noodles things I have ever had
@w0rmwood whoo I just had my first bowl too… and even though I made it wrong and added all three packets after nuking it, it was stellar. Nice job snagging one of the last few remaining! We are all sold out now otherwise I’d have bought another!
@troy@w0rmwood
I actually didn’t follow instructions at all. Still pretty amazing how they turned out.
Boiled some water first. Took two bowls, dumped the noodles in a rice cooker, poured two cups worth and shut the lid to steam things.
Finally read the instructions. Saw this involved the microwave. And the packets. And the numbers. Opened up the rice cooker pressure lid and tossed in packet #1; the noodles had softened so I started to mix everything, then closed the lid again.
Saw that packet 2 was more spices and 3 was creamer. So after another five minutes, drained the noodles, mixed in a cup of fresh hot water, mixed in the powders.
I’ll have to try the microwave method, but this was a pretty decent creamy sauce, very peppery. The noodle texture was great too. I made sure to adjust the time the noodles would cook in the 2nd water rinse.

Vegan and not spicy- sounds like a good option for easy lunch and to have on hand for an upcoming road trip. Good timing!
@jcpseattle Many thanks for reading the fine print for me!
@highonpez @jcpseattle To be clear, the noodles are vegan, the bottles of sauce are loaded with dairy.
@gdorn @jcpseattle All good! I’m flex but live with a strict vegetarian so I didn’t want to present some delicious noodle meals she couldn’t eat. The “chicken flavored” sauce is all mine.
@gdorn @highonpez this is good to know- I’d only checked the pasta. I’m recently lactose intolerant so the spicy sauce will have to just be enjoyed by the rest of my family.
The picture on the side of the bowl really looks like Clippy’s noodle cousin at a glance.
By dropping in two bottles of Buldak hot sauce you might have me with this one, Meh.
@djslack same. That’s nearly a full pint of Buldak. The pasta is pure extra.
Looks vegetarian (but the hot sauce isn’t vegan based on the price comparison links? ) so I’ll give it a try.

Linguine? Speaking in tongues just after Easter?
This shows as taxable. I’ve never paid tax for ramen bought from you. (NJ) @troy
@embedit Sorry about that – this has been corrected
@troy Thanks. Can the SideDeal sale be fixed, too?
@embedit Sidedeal was fixed at the same time
@troy Sidedeal is still showing tax for me. I also put up a service ticket there earlier.
If only it wasn’t 43% SODIUM!!!
For us heart healthy people, that’s a deal breaker!
@MarkDaSpark and for us deal healthy people? That’s a heart breaker!
@MarkDaSpark Thanks for pointing that out, that’s a shitfuckton of sodium. Ramen has a lot period, but that’s just too much!
@MarkDaSpark And it’s like two thirds of the other ramen that I enjoy. Compared to those, this looks like a health food.

@MarkDaSpark That just means I can eat these twice a day if I don’t eat anything else. What could go wrong?
@MarkDaSpark @tweezak My usual strategy with instant ramen is to use half the flavor packet and add some sambal oelek. It typically has very little added salt and is around $15 per gallon if you’re near a grocery store that carries the large jugs.
And yeah, Red Boat rules.
@MarkDaSpark Compared with Sidedeal today (Samyang ramen - 87% RDA sodium - !)
@MarkDaSpark
If only it wasn’t 43% [of the RDA for] SODIUM!!!
@tweezak

Sounds like someone mentioned that there is no separate flavor packet. It’s all Incorporated in the one bowl.
Edit:
/giphy d’oh
That was YOU!
@chienfou
My bad!

@brennyn @MarkDaSpark Have you ever tried Spicy Chili Crisp? Not super spicy but has a delicious flavor (probably loaded with MSG). Go find it and thank me later.

Warning: the oil will get everywhere and will stain.
@MarkDaSpark @tweezak I’ve never bought it myself but one of my friends puts that stuff on everything. Works really well on pork.
I should probably try using it more because I’m not MSG adverse at all, to the point that I have an MSG shaker on my table.
@brennyn @MarkDaSpark I remember my mom used to have a container of something called Accent in the cupboard. I never knew what it was and neither did she until probably 40 years later when she found out it is MSG.

Creamy Mushrooms are spoiled mushrooms. I’ll pass.
@hchavers ?
Wish I could just buy the sauce. Im allergic to mushrooms.
@gamertwins you could probably drop the pasta at a neighborhood blessing big box.
@gamertwins Stay tuned… we’ll have a little leftover sauce after this sale (star this comment and I will tag you when live!)
@gamertwins The sauce is no good for me (because dairy) - shame I can’t make an order ship to two places!
@troy thanks buddy
@gamertwins @brainmist @djslack @phendrick @diamonds215chic @mattykillpatty @macphoenix @pakopako @MarkDaSpark
@troy Awesome! Just ordered some! Thanks for the heads up!
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!
Welp I anticipate much regret. But I got inked entirely for regret, so apparently this is my kink.
@brainmist Live life like you’ve got no regerts tattooed on your sternum.
Amazingly, there’s only an instruction for microwave cooking. Joke’s on me for assuming it’s a pasta shaped ramen like the Buldak.
That said, nothing is stopping me from subbing the sauce packets with the Buldak bottle…

Wish Meh shipped to the VI. I don’t understand why that limitation is in place as everything i’ve ever ordered from y’all is sent via USPS.
@visioneer_one
Cost, I’d imagine…
@chienfou no. USPS charges the same amount (for non-oversized packages) to ship here as anywhere else within the US.
