I have this on my desk at work and only use the phone charging but magnet secures and works well. It has a slight suction on the bottom that keeps it upright but I can slide it towards me, change music or text and slide back without removing from charging. Well weighted and a nice design.
So when I’ve tried wireless charging it makes my phone or tablet feel like it’s turning into a nuclear reactor.
But there’s also times the device doesn’t charge at all because it’s not seated absolutely perfectly.
Am I wrong to feel wireless charging is kinda bogus? I plug in just as quickly. And the performance is better. And I can use the device while plugged in. Am I missing something with wireless?
@FightingMongoos It’s convenient? But no really, the tradeoffs are not worth the squeeze. That extra heat generated? It’s all degrading your battery. That’s also wasted electricity; wireless is more inefficient than plugging in
@FightingMongoos@thechilipepper0 I’ve never had a battery lose enough charge from wireless charging to the point of needing to upgrade, but I have had many charging ports fail. In fact, modern batteries and the chips that control charging are pretty smart, and modern phones are much better at heat management than you give them credit for (partly to keep up with the increasing capabilities of wireless charging). But the failure rate of charging ports is high enough that I always put my phone on a wireless charger every night, and only use a cord if I need a fast top-off.
Bought these the first time around and they’ve been fantastic. Aukey is the only brand I’ve found that passthrough charges my Samsung without having to take off my ohsnap grip. Only downside to this deal is the lack of charging brick, but those can be found decently cheap. These are definitely worth the $12.50 each.
I’m another member of the No Thanks, It Makes My Phone Get Too Hot Club. I’ve tried several charging pads, and the results seem identical. I was handed an induction-capable power bank as well, and I use it with a cable when I use it at all.
