Maybe it bothers me more than it should, but it seems a bit weird, and a bit sexist, that all the mannequin-feet are posed as though they were always wearing high heels.
Discuss…
@curtise Hey, they could totally be standing on the tips of their toes trying to reach something on a high shelf because they are so small and feminine, and also too poor at planning ahead to get a step stool.
@awk@curtise I have some women’s socks, wear them many nights walking dogs in summer. Athletic No show, solid color. Too big for wife so she gave them to me. No difference to the average man’s sock. (In this case they were even man-sock sized).
I also have a “woman’s” watch. Just a classy simple black watch that doesn’t really look masculine of feminine, albeit would probably look bulky on an average sized woman.
I need socks but these are pretty boring. Wish that company that makes those men’s patterned socks that get sold here periodically made as many women’s socks as they make men’s. The price is good though for so many pairs of socks.
Darn…if not for the “funny grass” socks, this would be great for my homeless outreach! I would feel kind of hypocritical handing out a drug culture item though.
Getting this as a wedding gift for a guy…
In the most American way possible just want to keep the B&W socks. Feeling pretty confident! almost as confident as those assholes who participated in the Panama Papers. I mean seriously inconsiderate amiright?
@lisameh@unksol I’ve looked and looked and looked online for anything carcinogenic or toxic about them, but found nothing. Even looked up the fabrics. Now they do make socks infused with oils, so maybe Walmart has the warning on their brand with the oils and because of that, maybe put the warning on all of their socks? Not sure. But I couldn’t find a single toxic thing. Of course, the cotton could be GMO and loaded with herbicides/pesticides, but that’s all cotton that’s not organic. Thx for the head’s up. Not a fan of toxins.
Am I reading the specs right? Are a good number of these slipper socks? They all look the same, but the “gray & ombre gray” & pink & blue packs all say slipper socks in the description. So, you only get 6 pairs of normal socks, 6 pairs of “house slippers” (who needs that many?) & 3 pairs of supports anklets. Fine, but understand what you’re getting.
So, Honestly? I have um… a Rather large Foot. (10 Female). I find that most 9-11 socks get tight around the toes, and I have to occasionally pull on the sock toe to loosen it throughout the day. BTW, that’s what you should do before you put your shoes on anyway. So, as far as complaining about the men’s socks for occasional sales, I LIKE Them! They are Bigger. Work with tennies, especially boots in the Winter. So, my concern is, these socks are supposed to fit “Most”. How can a sock not be tight on the top end of the spectrum if they fit “small”? And these are kind of boring, tbh. Give us some Zing!!! Please.
@Mandamm My foot is also woman’s 10 but I find that most men’s socks (eg cotton ones that don’t really stretch that much) leave about an inch with no foot in them and the stretch ones still leave some fabric left over. Then I have to pull the heels up too high to keep fabric from bunching in the toe part of my shoe. And yes the sized 9-11 can be too small for me too (well stretched out all the way and thus can be tight depending on what they are made out of). Some brands of socks have gone to S, M and L sizes for socks. That works better for me except they tend to be more expensive socks. Like you I wish these for sale now weren’t so ‘boring’.
@Kidsandliz@Mandamm I have the opposite problem - size 6 and the normal “one-size-fits-all” leaves me with the heel sticking out behind my foot instead of on the heel. I buy boys socks but that’s not always good because they can be too narrow. Grrr.
So, none of these socks are cotton. At all. The pot socks are 100% polyster and the 3-pair crew socks just say “Acrylic & Spandex.” Very disappointing. Where did these 62% and 82% combed cotton numbers come from?
@mossygreen Well damn, I bought these specifically for the socks that have cotton in them.
How did you get yours so soon? Mine only shipped on the 18th and I figure that I have at least three weeks of following their endless meanderings through the PB network.
@Barney@mossygreen I just got mine today so you should get yours soon. I was surprised they arrived so fast too! The socks with modal say to machine wash cold, inside out, line dry. Line dry?! Ugh.
@lkblaser@mossygreen The good news is that my socks came today. The bad news is that THERE’S NOT A FIBER OF COTTON IN ANY OF THEM!
The outside bag on the crew socks says cotton roll top and the inside cardboard says Acrylic and Spandex. The anklet socks say 100% polyester. That is NOT cotton. AND they are MEN’s size 9-12 not women’s. Where they got these 82% and 62% cotton numbers, for these socks, I haven’t a clue.
I’m getting tired of items being advertised as one thing and then turning out not to be that way.
@Barney@lkblaser It’s very uncool, and obviously all of us should write to CS. What to say and what to expect in response, I’m not sure. But it’s not like we made unreasonable assumptions here.
@sammydog01 Oh yeah, modal is synthetic but not acrylic. I like modal, but am not sure about socks made with it staying up.
@mossygreen Seriously, what is going on? Out of 15 pairs of socks, 9 were supposed to be more than 50% cotton. Six pairs were supposed to be 82% cotton and three pairs were supposed to be 62% cotton. Instead all 15 pairs are made entirely of synthetic fibers. I wouldn’t have bought them if they had been described that way. If the descriptions aren’t going to be accurate what’s the point of shopping here? This sucks.
You can always donate the socks to a local homeless shelter. They are ALWAYS asking for new socks. I am a womans size 9/10 (whole size difference in feet) and mine fit me fine. I’m not thrilled about the material they’re made of but I wear steel toes so my socks will be worn out in just a few wears anyway. I really like the colors and the weed socks are just too fun!
@AuntMean67 I haven’t tried mine on yet but they are nice and soft. I told my husband that it was a good deal for socks and if I decided I didn’t like them that I could always donate them to the homeless outreach. I’ve said the same thing about other socks I’ve ordered from Meh when the price is too good to pass up.
@lkblaser Good for you. Believe me, having been a supervisor at a small shop and encountering a lot of people from the homeless shelters, they really do need them. I even brought old shirts and coats and stuff to work for those that needed them.

@curtise Hey, they could totally be standing on the tips of their toes trying to reach something on a high shelf because they are so small and feminine, and also too poor at planning ahead to get a step stool.
@curtise but then how would I know if it’s a man foot or a women foot if they were all flat-footed?!
@curtise Why are there even “men’s” and “women’s” socks in the first place? Just make the same socks in different sizes.
@curtise Are you saying men can’t wear high heels? You’re right…that does sound sexist.
@awk @curtise I agree! And, fun fact, the largest size “boys” socks are generally the same size as “women’s”.
@awk @curtise I have some women’s socks, wear them many nights walking dogs in summer. Athletic No show, solid color. Too big for wife so she gave them to me. No difference to the average man’s sock. (In this case they were even man-sock sized).

Some things the male/female label means nothing.
@awk @curtise Women’s socks often (should) have larger calves than a men’s sock of the same size.
@awk @curtise @OnionSoup Especially with perfume!
I need socks but these are pretty boring. Wish that company that makes those men’s patterned socks that get sold here periodically made as many women’s socks as they make men’s. The price is good though for so many pairs of socks.
Now all I need is 15 women!
@awk
or one female octopus? (snicker)…well then you will need to move to Utah.@awk … and you’d still be 2 women short of a threesome.
Hmm, I could probably use 15 pairs of socks.

@smkarizona You could still give the ‘regular’socks and keep the funny ones for yourself.

@aperfecttool72 yeah! Yeah! Do a flair, fish!
YAY! Socks are my favorite. AND I still had my Meh Pasta Drop coupon, so got these for $5. Thanks for making my day, Meh!
So Toonces the driving cat doesn’t count? Outrageous.
I’m not sure that really qualifies as purple.

$11.99 2 pair at Walmart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Blue-Ombre-Blue-2-Pair-Pack-Roll-Top-Crew-Socks/37698139
@Felyne Uhhh ohhh…the Walmart site says, “Warning, may contain chemicals that cause cancer…”
@Felyne @lisameh they only do that in California I’m sure they are fine
@lisameh @unksol I’ve looked and looked and looked online for anything carcinogenic or toxic about them, but found nothing. Even looked up the fabrics.
