10-8-17 Vampires
6Vampire movies have been around for a long time. You have the gritty vampires… But I like the more glamorous side also.
Blade
Not only do you have a half vampire/half human hybrid that can easily walk in the sun… You have vampires that can wear sunscreen or motorcycle leather and get away with walking in the sun as well.
Deacon Frost… Even though he was a jerk, I had a crush on him.
Do I really need to explain this one?
Interview With The Vampire
The vampire that is busy working in a hospital.
Being Human
And of course… Eric Northman from
True Blood
If vampires were real, and you could be one, would you? If you would, which movie/show rules would you rather follow? Would you be a Lost Boy by chance?
Tonight’s musical selection is:
In Flames
I usually don’t listen to a lot of metal that’s guttural or growls. This is one of the bands with harsher vocals that I like. I like being able to sing along with the music. The songs they have with cleaner vocals are my favorite.
Pinball Map
Clayman
Take This Life
Bullet Ride
Deliver Us
Where The Dead Ships Dwell
Come Clarity

The only vampire that matters.
@ruouttaurmind Who is it?
@kaighintze That is “Baby Vamp Jessica”, Jessica Hamby from the HBO series True Blood as portrayed by Deborah Ann Woll.

Vampires, hoop skirts. and Brooklyn accents. Hard forgotten that one.
Sharon Tate was amazing, and Roman Polanski hadn’t … nevermind.
I’ve been waiting to come out and play. I was afraid I might have missed this.
If this is Sunday, this must be Sweden.

@2many2no ooh, I’ve heard this before somewhere… I like it.
I figured dropping the topic before midnight might get it to be seen a little better. Then I fell asleep and almost missed it, lol.
This…
Not this…
But, speaking of True Blood…
Sookie, nuff said. Fairy blood is the sweetest of all.
@mfladd
@mflassy nice!
@mfladd
@mflassy Now you’re reaching…
You should have quit while you were ahead.
@mfladd
I’m not trying to find amazing images of fairies and squirrels. I’m trying to ruin one or the other for you.
It’s Monday morning and I’m bored.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sad to say, but, Lestat De Lioncourt is me to a T.
@mfladd but you don’t have a long ponytail.
@mfladd I really enjoyed Stewart Townsend’s Lestat:
The original movie vampire.
I enjoyed the American version of Being Human, but the UK version was just so much better IMO. Plus Aiden Turner is the hotness.
And of course
Seems like my favorite vampire films are imports.
Gackt and Hyde are lovely gangsta vampires in Moon Child
And the Swedish Let the Right One In (The US version was okay but I found the original more haunting)
And if you like your vampires as villains, have fun with Bon Jovi as a vampire hunter in Vampires Los Muertos
I’m exercising some restraint. I like vampires very much, so I have a lot more favorites in this genre.
@moondrake eventually I’ll check out the other version of Being Human.
Please share, don’t be shy.
@RiotDemon There’s full episodes on You Tube. This is #1.
@moondrake
Don’t exercise restraint. Not with vampires…
@RiotDemon @f00l Okay, here’s a few more.
Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton make beautiful, languorous slacker vampires in The Only Lover Left Alive.
I first “met” David Bowie in The Hunger, another lavish, slow paced vampire film.
If you’d like to kick up the action into overdrive, you can revisit half the cast of Aliens in Near Dark, which I liked much better than Lost Boys which came out the same year. I’m a longtime fan of Lance Henrickson.
If you’d like your horror leavened with a little humor, Shadow of the Vampire with John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe is a must-see. It’s a darkly hilarious “documentary” of the making of the original vampire movie “Nosferatu”, wherein the method actor Max Schrek is actually a vampire, paid in extras and starlettes for his performance.
And one of Nicolas Cage’ s best roles was in Vampire’s Kiss as a white collar worker who’s bitten by a one night stand and convinces himself he’s become a vampire, puts on fake fangs and starts biting people in his scattered and hapless way.
Two vampire films that are on my to-watch list are Ganja and Hess, and Thirst. They are older, artsy movies so I have to save up some patience to watch them.
@moondrake I haven’t heard of any of those, thank you.
This is the pilot, it had a different cast except for George.
It’s what I watched first that got me hooked.
Jeez, now I want to sit here and watch this rather than prep for the special intro game I’m running tonight for our new players for my annual horror rpg.
