Good, Clean Fun: a Meh-rathon
From Sudsy Waters (Ms. Theroux Mysteries #33):
A week aboard a luxury steamer, courtesy of Alfie Rolands, a wealthy client who thought she needed a break. Ms. Theroux wasn’t sure what to do with herself!
“Excuse me,” she said to someone in the hallway, “but would you mind pointing me to where I might find a vacuum? There wasn’t one in my cabin’s closet.”
The woman laughed. “Ma’am, we clean the rooms for you here. Not the other way around.”
Ms. Theroux apologized: “I’m simply not used to this. I mean, I can barely wrap my mind around it. Steam? Sure. I use it all the time in my work. But it’s usually to clean and de-wrinkle clothing. The idea of it propelling us to ports of call, though? It’s simply preposterous.”
The woman chuckled for a moment. That is, until they heard the scream.
