The Stocking Stuffer: a Ghastly Christmas Meh-rathon

Of course, I keep the letter in the drawer of my desk. I retrieved it and brought it to the bar. To my surprise, Ollie’s countenance changed quite a bit. Tracing his fingers over the words, he asked me a series of nonsense questions. I cannot recall many of them because I had already been tired before I had a sip of alcohol, but one stuck in my mind. He wanted to know: Could I be sure that the letter had been written by a human hand rather than a snake coiled around a pen? There was, he claimed, something serpentine about the handwriting.
