Snap Into One
We sell snacks all year, but this is the most important time to sell snacks. Why? Because it’s the holidays, and there just aren’t enough snacks around.
Okay, that seems ridiculous, we know. Not enough snacks? This time of year? Are we crazy? Maybe a little. But we stand by our statement. It’s not a snack-friendly time of year. Sure, there are plenty of treats. There’s lots of food to eat. There are big honking meals and desserts and brunches and baked goods.
But not snacks.
Because what is a snack? It’s a compact delivery system for nutrition, a small yet tasty distraction that hopefully delivers a modicum of nourishment. If you overindulge in the verb form–as in, you “snack too much”–you can feel full and tummy sick, but in the singular noun form, “a snack” should only ever go so far as tiding you over until your next meal.
And, as we implied earlier, those meals are getting bigger and bigger.
Which, counterintuitively, only increases the need for snacks. After all, what happens when, starting in late November, your daily calorie count starts to look as though it would be a nice part-time salary if you put a dollar sign in front of it? You struggle at first, but then adjust, so that a big meal feels like a normal meal and a normal meal feels like nothing. Seriously, by early December, your stomach will be rumbling at 2:30 like you’ve been fasting a week when, in fact, you’re only a few hours removed from a sub sandwich, a bag of chips, and a large Coke. And if you go scrounging around for a bite, all you’ll be able to dig up are some frosted Christmas cookies and a carton of eggnog. Aka, a total gut wrecker.
Unless, again, you have some snacks.
Like these. They’re chili lime flavored Slim Jims, with plenty of kick to enliven even your seasonally overstimulated tastebuds, and each stick delivers 250 calories and 11 grams of protein, which just might stop you from eating a slice of pumpkin pie when you’re starving an hour after breakfast.
So buy them, and have something to eat this holiday season that is not just an unholy amalgamation of carbs and sugar.
