Sole Searching

Just to recap:

On Saturday, we sold a thing to keep your hands warm.

On Sunday, we sold something to keep your butt comfortable in the car or at your desk.

And now, today, we’re selling these insoles, with 6 layers, designed to reduce foot pain and discomfort, improve posture, and help with a variety of ailments such as plantar fasciitis, shin splints, sciatica, and more.

Look, we just really want you to be comfortable, okay?

Now, with all products of this variety, it’s possible that the marketing copy overstates the effectiveness.

But I’m willing to bet, in this case, not by much.

Here’s a personal story: while running one day, I got a weird stinger that ran up from my heel to my Achilles. The pain came quickly and subsided almost immediately, leaving only a dull throb after. I didn’t think much of it until it happened again. And then a third time. And a fourth time.

At which point, I went to a foot doctor.

He had me do a series of exercises, stretching this, rotating that, et cetera, until he finally managed to recreate one of these stingers in his office. The diagnosis? Something called ‘posterior tibial tendinitis.’ His prescription? He showed me a few simple stretches, but mostly, he encouraged me to invest in some good insoles. Which I did. (For the record, they weren’t these, but they are very similar.)

The result was effective to an almost annoying extent, in that it made other, more arduous journeys to correct discomfort feel all the more frustrating by comparison. The support made my feet feel better immediately.

And what I’ll say for this sale is that it’s nice it’s a 2-pack, because once you put some extra support in one pair of shoes, you’ll want it in all the sneakers you wear regularly.
