Of all the major US sportsballs, I’d go to a baseball game more willingly than the others. The degree to which I am willing to pay for the privilege is demonstrated by the fact that I have never paid for a ticket to do so, and have not watched a game on a TV of my own for at least 40 years.
@werehatrack Just occurred to me I’ve never once paid for tickets to any sportsball game. I’ve been invited by family and friends, I’ve gotten freebies from work once in a while, but I’ve never once bought a ticket myself haha. Movies and concerts are quite the opposite though.
@hchavers Since they won the World Series last year, you can often find them on the local channels, esp. on the weekends.
I think Fox 4 aired a game just the other day, and some of the subchannels will show them.
I USED to, but the €@$&#¥ Rockies management traded away all the great players and now they stink, AND they’re not on the easy to watch cable channel anymore. So - hardly ever.
@Kyeh That’s a great tradition among expansion and relocation teams now. The owner of a certain Florida team spent big money to buy the players that would bring home the pennant, and as soon as the champagne was uncorked, started selling them off (mostly at a profit, natch) to recover the investment. They’ve stunk ever since.
@swiftiefangirl me too! not sure why, but got into watching nfl a few years back and have always enjoyed the olympics. no other sportsball excites me at all
We have a local team that college players are on during the offseason. They are usually really good. Games are about $5 so it’s a real bargain as entertainment goes. Never was a fan of tv baseball but live is great.
Nope nope nope. That game lasts way too long and is boring. Of course in football they spend most of their time just standing around too. Don’t like that one either.
@pakopako I have toyed with the idea of designing a t-shirt that just says “Sportsball” in the typical layout for such. Or “Team” with the usual long tail containing the word “sportsball”
I’m a Cardinals fan living in CA without cable, so I don’t get to watch my team on tv. I do however get partial season tickets to my local AAA team and watch their games on the local channel every Saturday night when I don’t have plans.
Only if there is free merch or fireworks at the game.
@Mehlachi
Those games were always EXTRA FUN!

My cable provider dropped the channel that televises the Rangers. I can only get my fix when they are on another channel.

If you don’t watch, that’s when you get hit in the head.
I’m a fan, but I don’t mist.
LFGM!

@Kyeh AND they had the nerve to charge $50 for standing tix to the opening day ($80 was cheapest seats)
@catthegreat Ugh, did they? Probably trying to make up ahead of time for later in the season when they stink so bad they don’t sell out.

@werehatrack Yeah, I know.
My mom loves baseball and tells me all about it, that counts right?
NFL and the Olympics that’s it. 🫶

@tweezak How are the concessions?
MLB: really don’t watch much
High school and college: when I’m the umpire, I’d better be watching religiously!

Go, Yankees!
I watch Giants games for the broadcast team as much as for the players. Kruk & Kuip are second to none.
Go my favorite team!

@Kyeh @pakopako @werehatrack Got that shirt way back when it came out.
@pakopako @werehatrack @yakkoTDI It’s a great one.

No. It is one of the many sportsballs that I do not watch.
