@Kyeh broken English there, and then “We work with family farms in New Zealand, where the cows can be pastured all year long.” is a contradiction. So the jerky is made *in Nebraska, but the beef aren’t necessarily raised there.
@Kyehhttps://consumer.haus/collections/prevail-jerky “A healthy jerky brand offering 100% grass-fed and allergen-free beef jerky sourced from New Zealand farms.” – Other internet copy “Where do we make our jerky? All of our jerky is made locally in Springfield, IL.” and “Rest assured that everything that goes into making our beef jerky, from the ingredients to the smoke we use to flavor and preserve it, is authentic. We source our organic spices from the most reliable vendors across the world while the main ingredient, the beef, comes from family-owned New Zealand farms that are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished.”
@pakopako Interesting find; NZ is pretty amazing; Looking forward to trying it, but it’s still hard to imagine importing beef from halfway around the world, to Nebraska of all places!
@Kyeh to be fair, this qualifies as “or something”; I ordered it, and I’m sure it’s great jerky, but importing beef from halfway around the world is still less than ideal IMHO, even if it’s from a reputable place like NZ.
These are pretty good, and are kind of worth the price point. (At almost the same price on SD.)
At about 4$ per 4oz bag, it is very edible. The ingredients say “matcha tea” (likely as preservative), but you can’t taste the flavor.
It does not, however, taste “junk food” like. In fact, it tastes good for you, like most under processed jerky meat does. The original tastes of teriyaki (soy sauce), the umami (orange juiced) tastes of sweet onion; an odd reversal of flavors. The texture is typical: chewy and hardy. HNY brand does a better junky jerky: they marinate everything in fruit preserves so the meat is always soft and tender (and sweet, but not cloyingly so).

Fine-- I’ll bite, but why do I get the feeling this is “made in the USA” but packaged in China or something.
@caffeineguy Nope:

@caffeineguy Still nothing about China, though.
I actually think the New Zealand aspect makes it fairly attractive.

Odd Prevail isn’t using Canadian cows (Wendy’s), and I can only assume domestic beef is already reserved for export (or the wealthy).

@caffeineguy Okay, but NZ does seem more reliable than China, I think. It does seem weird that they can’t source the beef locally.

…
Digesting the description… Where does umami jerky fit into murder and a menage a troi with the groundskeeper?
Why not offer a mixed pack for these?
@ShotgunX the previous set was 8 for $25
This, being 4 for $13, is probably the mixed set.
I bought the 8 for $25 earlier. It was really good. I ordered 3 sets this time around. Looking forward to trying the umami.
