@heartny@Lynnerizer Yes the small banana is what you would need. In reviews someone put a quarter on top of one and it isn’t all that much bigger in diameter than that.
@chienfou@kuoh Weird - apparently many people have the same confusion about this song. I just googled and there are several videos of Mr. Armstrong singing the song but crediting Nat King Cole as the performer.
Both great musicians, but very different voices and styles.
@ohhwell@phendrick
Are you saying you wouldn’t buy them? The Amazon. Reviews look decent but that doesn’t mean shit. I was just considering them for when I work out and don’t want my earbuds in. So I’m not looking to spend a lot of money but something somewhat decent.
@fgmart screenshot from amazon but looking at the version of bluetooth the cord is likely somewhat more updated than the original ones meh was selling a bunch of years ago.
@katbyter@pixelated The Amazon dimensions are wrong. I couldn’t find diameter anywhere, so I took this customer image with a quarter and compared the pixels to get to 1.30" (vs. 0.95" for a quarter)
@katbyter@pixelated Even the English often use mixed systems in practice despite having nominally been fully metric for many decades. (Can you say “pint”?)
@corgincognito Yeah I don’t go out to bars much but I have seen prices posted at $10-20 per drink, and that’s if they even post the price (most states don’t require liquor drink prices to be disclosed unless you ask… which is awkward and puzzles the server who then says, “Hmm, nobody ever asked, I’ll have to go check with the manager.”
But anyway I figured if you get 2 margaritas for $14 then &7 is probably the going rate for default margaritas.
Looking at the pictures, with the big green Z at the end of the name and all the green (paint?) spatter behind the logo, I’m getting some awful strong zombie apocalypse vibes from this product
These are really tiny! I have a portable sound device that I bought from that other well known crazy deals site years ago with speakers about the same size that really dug way deeper than I expected due to how the resonance chamber is designed. Just don’t expect to go below 100hz.
@user78628060 if everybody would just learn Esperanto, we could all get along a lot better.
(Right, Hamas?)
se ĉiuj nur lernus Esperanton, ni ĉiuj povus interkonsenti multe pli bone.
(Ĉu, Hamas?) [See, much clearer!]
@phendrick@user78628060 Esperanto did not arise from a population with an established culture to lend it nuance, a shortcoming that I do not believe it will ever overcome. This is just one of a great many things that has caused it to fall from its prior level of niche popularity to its present waning and largely disregarded status. I am far from alone in this opinion.
@phendrick That’s Esperanto as a Second Language. Except when it’s a social studies class called “Emphatic Sign Language”, subtitled “A study of the often indelicate gestures used to convey messages that mere words cannot deliver”.
@werehatrack At least that sign language only requires one or two fingers, or maybe just a fist, so even the hand-decapped can participate. All-Inclusive, and I keep hearing that AI is now a big thing.
@shirlema there’s a video on Amazon showing how to it. Both units fully charged, both units off, hold the first unit’s power button down until it beeps and goes into pairing mode. Hold the second unit’s power button down until it beeps, then double click the power button on the second unit. You should hear a different beep. They should work after that.
Surprisingly good, full and detailed sound for such little speakers! These are not FiveBelow cheapies. I didn’t even really need them and now I almost wish I got two pairs at that price!
I was impressed by the heft and construction of these speakers. I can’t seem to get them to act as a stereo unit because they address separately into Bluetooth, but they work rather well independently.

These would go great with a baby arm!!
/giphy truth
Looks like they come in Georgia Red, but alas not purple.
And why is there no banana for scale?
@heartny Here you go
/image standard banana
@heartny I was thinking the same thing!
@heartny @Lynnerizer Yes the small banana is what you would need. In reviews someone put a quarter on top of one and it isn’t all that much bigger in diameter than that.
Yeah! A speaker doc… missed it by that much.
I’ll wait for them to become Sound Adultzz
@awk That’s the best way to stay out of trouble.
@xobzoo I think you missed a real opportunity…
@prsbirds @xobzoo Given the size, I would say it’s more likely all about that treble, no bass.
KuoH
@prsbirds @xobzoo Bassically
I’m no English major, but isn’t the y technically a vowel in hyper or hypr? Also, does anyone here actually need more speakers, especially baby ones?
@warpedrotors Yes, I noticed the y too.
@KristiLis @warpedrotors
Sometimes.
I see speakers of blue
Red babiez too
I hear them boom
For me and you
And I wish to myself
What a wonderful Irk
KuoH
@kuoh
The speakers are back
Few things are certain in life
Death, taxes, speakers
@kuoh
I can hear NKC sing that in my head… Thanks!
@chienfou @kuoh Hey, it’s your head but I think the one you are referencing was sung by Louis Armstrong.
@chienfou @kuoh Weird - apparently many people have the same confusion about this song. I just googled and there are several videos of Mr. Armstrong singing the song but crediting Nat King Cole as the performer.
Both great musicians, but very different voices and styles.
@kuoh @macromeh
Mea culpa. Definitely a Neil Armstrong song.
/giphy confused
@chienfou @macromeh Wow, not only was he first on the moon, but a great singer too?
KuoH
/giphy tiny package
@somf69 glad that was the safe-for-work version
@somf69
I expect that for speakers, Tiny = Tinny
/showme the knife that Meh will inevitably be selling tomorrow
Oooh… showming be esi dif rexcipetion Tomorrow.
CONSUMER NAMMED KUOH
I have some confidence that Meh would disdain a knife like that. So would I.
@werehatrack I don’t know, it’s very Game-of-Thronesy.
funny enough id buy that. i’m ready for another knife/flashlight. make it usc-c tho. pleez
@pmarin @werehatrack Either way, they went with a makeup_mirror + wireless_charger instead.
I am disappointed. I was hoping for a knife. And I don’t want to buy a mirror just to break the glass and build my own shiv.
Pouring one out for Bluetooth speakers sold on meh. Haven’t had a good one in a while. And no, these pieces of crap don’t count
Why on earth did I buy these?
@ohhwell Because no one can resist babiez?
@ohhwell @phendrick
Are you saying you wouldn’t buy them? The Amazon. Reviews look decent but that doesn’t mean shit. I was just considering them for when I work out and don’t want my earbuds in. So I’m not looking to spend a lot of money but something somewhat decent.
@phendrick @Star2236 nah, just saying I have absolutely no need for them.
But I was real curious what they actually sound like for being so small.
I wouldn’t pay $40 for them on Amazon either though.
USB-C or micro-USB?
@fgmart screenshot from amazon but looking at the version of bluetooth the cord is likely somewhat more updated than the original ones meh was selling a bunch of years ago.
@fgmart Hmm blowing up this photo I can’t really tell either. I’d guess since they didn’t actually say “C” it is not that.
@fgmart @Kidsandliz it looks like micro to me in photo. Connector is not smooth.
@fgmart Micro USB
@troy thanks!
@fgmart An Amazon review says it’s USB-C
/showme writing a modest proposal while being surrounded by babiez mini wireless stereo speakers
@ShotgunX
Got the time period correct at least… and the hands are getting better!
@chienfou @ShotgunX
What image generator is this?
@IAMIS
Still Dall-E, I think.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/showme-v20
@chienfou @ShotgunX left ring finger looks stumpy.
@chienfou @IAMIS Better Dall-E than Dali, if you want to keep your bridges in one piece.
@chienfou @katbyter @ShotgunX
Or arthritic?
The dimensions are in…millimeters?
Who uses Metric system in the US?
@pixelated Here ya go: 1.70" tall, 1.30" diameter
@pixelated they changed it. It was 43 mm (H? W? Who knows?). Must have been height because now it says
Dimensions: 1.70" tall, 1.30" diameter
Still says .37 pounds instead of 6ish ounces. Also weird.
@pixelated Amazon listing gives different dimensions
Product Dimensions 2 x 2 x 2"
Item Weight 3.2 ounces
@katbyter @pixelated The Amazon dimensions are wrong. I couldn’t find diameter anywhere, so I took this customer image with a quarter and compared the pixels to get to 1.30" (vs. 0.95" for a quarter)
@katbyter @pixelated @troy Amazon often gives the retail package dimensions and not actual product dimensions.
KuoH
@pixelated @troy please convert to football fields. It’s the only measurement size I can visualize.
@warpedrotors Height .000472, diameter .000361
Hope that clears it up for you.
@katbyter why do different systems? Metric system for size (mm) and English system (lb) for weight.
Hmm.
@pixelated no one does!
(Hands everyone a 2L of soda to celebrate not using metric)
@pixelated I need all my measurements in football fields.
@EvilSmoo @pixelated The real ‘football’ field or the American version we call football in the U.S?
@katbyter @pixelated Even the English often use mixed systems in practice despite having nominally been fully metric for many decades. (Can you say “pint”?)
@katbyter @pixelated @werehatrack or say “stone” for human weight.
Can they double as salt & pepper shakers?
@MrJazz Yes
@allthatisjosh @MrJazz
If you place some salt or pepper on these it will most likely shake if you crank it up enough…
secret-abandoned-ape
Ohh, look at Mr. Fancypants over here drinking $14 margaritas!
That’s gonna be a tough pill to swallow.
@blaineg And even harder to chew first.
Looking at the pictures, with the big green Z at the end of the name and all the green (paint?) spatter behind the logo, I’m getting some awful strong zombie apocalypse vibes from this product
@Turken are you saying that’s a bad thing?
Not quite small enough to tape them to the frames of my glasses and call them nearbudz.
These are really tiny! I have a portable sound device that I bought from that other well known crazy deals site years ago with speakers about the same size that really dug way deeper than I expected due to how the resonance chamber is designed. Just don’t expect to go below 100hz.
Back to meh roots, I see.
Hey meh! I’m running out of that spicy ramen, fyi. I wouldn’t mind a refill.
@goldnectar I like the idea of spicy ramen, but man, I just cannot handle it.
It’s more tolerable with more water and less sauce, but feels like cheating.
Still, it also doesn’t feel like my mouth is burning going in and my bum burning going out, so needs must, I suppose.
Can these play music in Spanish or just English?
@user78628060 if everybody would just learn Esperanto, we could all get along a lot better.
(Right, Hamas?)
se ĉiuj nur lernus Esperanton, ni ĉiuj povus interkonsenti multe pli bone.
(Ĉu, Hamas?) [See, much clearer!]
@phendrick Hard to argue with what him say!
@phendrick @user78628060 Esperanto did not arise from a population with an established culture to lend it nuance, a shortcoming that I do not believe it will ever overcome. This is just one of a great many things that has caused it to fall from its prior level of niche popularity to its present waning and largely disregarded status. I am far from alone in this opinion.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC61387/#:~:text=What about the dream of,unofficial words appeared and spread.
@user78628060 @werehatrack is that why ESL 201 (Esperanto, a Simulated Language) never really took off at the community colleges?
@phendrick That’s Esperanto as a Second Language. Except when it’s a social studies class called “Emphatic Sign Language”, subtitled “A study of the often indelicate gestures used to convey messages that mere words cannot deliver”.
@werehatrack At least that sign language only requires one or two fingers, or maybe just a fist, so even the hand-decapped can participate.
All-Inclusive, and I keep hearing that AI is now a big thing.
these look so meh, i kinda want them… will hold off until they are nearly free and battery is 10 years old
Honestly, I had a conversation today about what purpose these things serve. We couldn’t come up with anything. Anyone?
@goldnectar Their true purpose seems to be separating you from $15 (possibly plus shipping).
@goldnectar Earbuds for jazzin’ elephants?
(You’ve probably seen them swaying to the beat.)
I figured it out. It is either Irks or novelty. “Hey, cool Meh shopper, is that a quarter sized Bluetooth speaker or are you just happy to see me?”
Meh Shopper: “Derrrr. Uh, what? I dunno what I’m duuuuhhhhhh.”
@goldnectar I’m betting that when they came in, somebody went to the buyer and asked “How big were these supposed to be?”
Okay, anyone having difficulty with getting them to pair for stereo?
@shirlema there’s a video on Amazon showing how to it. Both units fully charged, both units off, hold the first unit’s power button down until it beeps and goes into pairing mode. Hold the second unit’s power button down until it beeps, then double click the power button on the second unit. You should hear a different beep. They should work after that.
Surprisingly good, full and detailed sound for such little speakers! These are not FiveBelow cheapies. I didn’t even really need them and now I almost wish I got two pairs at that price!
@EnigmaV8
Still can over on side deal ($20 a pair)
I was impressed by the heft and construction of these speakers. I can’t seem to get them to act as a stereo unit because they address separately into Bluetooth, but they work rather well independently.
