Probably a gift card. But, it would depend on the family I guess. I got some really cool, rustic cutting boards (it’s a set of 2 of different sizes) from this very unique local shop for ours.
Movie tickets?
Some electronic gadget?
Picture frames?
Outdoor planter?
Instant pot on sale?
Serving trays or bowls?
Outdoor furniture piece?
I’d probably bring a Google Home or Amazon Echo from one of these electronics sales. Or an Echo Dot and a Smart bulb or two. Or if most people cook, a sous vide stick, air fryer, or whatever kitchen gizmo is hot. When you get into that price range it’s always electronics or appliances for me. I’m into smart home stuff right now, so that’s my first thought.
@therealjrn everyone brings a wrapped gift worth a certain amount and puts it under the tree. People draw numbers then starting at 1 you pick a present to open. Person 2 picks a present and can either open it or swap for person 1s present. Person 3 can open a present or swap for person 1 or 2s present ect until everyone has gone.
@CaptAmehrican Oh! Yeah, we call that a “Dirty Santa” party. This one place I worked we did it in conjunction with a bingo game. The bingo winners picked (or swapped) the gifts as they won.
How about a winter care pack? Get car stuff - if it snows wherever you are, a snow brush, ice scraper, and washer fluid. Some hot chocolate and a mug. Gloves that work for anyone. Or a blanket. And maybe a Redbox gift card or something. Put it all in a festive box. It can be the “beat the winter blues” box.
Thanks for the ideas! I decided to go with a brunch box: ordered a waffle maker ($10) and citrus juicer ($22), to which I’ll add waffle mix, maple syrup, and oranges.
Meh purchases. Especially contents of Fukus.

Yankee swaps often don’t have much the guys want. I would consider say
$40 worth of cheese should please most guys.

Imma Okie, not a yankee. What’s a Yankee Swap?
@therealjrn white elephant gift exchange is another common term for it.
@Thumperchick $50 stapled to garland is some kind of elephant!

@CaptAmehrican @therealjrn I might be inclined to bring something adult if it’s called a Dirty Santa.
@CaptAmehrican @therealjrn We do Dirty Santa also.

Shiatsu neck massager.
Or a Fondoodler
The thirteen-year-olds. Too many of them in my family already. I could use some early twenties in case I need help moving.
Smart plugs? Bulbs?
Big Ol’ Bottle o’ Booze
gift card to the bunny ranch.
A puppy in a box filled with holes… Because puppies make great presents for random strangers.
@OnionSoup
Or a box full of holes with a picture of a puppy
and the real gift underneath
or a stuffed puppy
or a box nailed shut with the hammer wrapped on top and something trendie in side

@becca Nice!
If you work fast you can get a whole case of hair fibers.
