WTF??? I didn't even know there WAS an altruism score!!!!
61I was just looking into some things and found out that meh gives an altruism score. Why wasn’t I warned? My score was 0.0!!! It’s because I hadn’t “liked” anybody’s posts. Well, guess what? I haven’t liked anybody’s posts! But I’m sure as hell going to start hitting like now. So if I “like” your post, be aware that it’s because I’m playing along with meh’s game, and it’s NOT that I actually like your post. meh.

it’s super easy to do when using a phone. If you click on the star to see who liked a post you add yourself automatically. You have to be sure you click and HOLD to not have it ‘self-like’

For a long while, I had my profile hidden, because someone or other posted my altruism score, with some commentary or other, and it made me uncomfortable.
I suppose I developed a thicker skin, or even just quit worrying about it. I vote on nearly every post I make, as well, and I’m consistent in that. I used to post a lot more than I do now. No reason, really, for the change. I’m just getting old.

I don’t think it counts self votes, which is as it should be. I’ve never done the math to see if it did, because I don’t care. I have some posts that I missed voting on, over time. It isn’t on purpose, it just happens. Mostly I vote on things to mark that I’ve read something. Upon rare occasion, I miss the down-voting from old Woot. Mostly, I prefer it this way, though.

My score usually hovers around 1 (my profile is hidden temporarily for a specific reason but trust me that’s what my altruism score usually is).
Every once in a while it drops below one and I get the stingy tag… When that happens I go on mass liking sprees liking everything I see until I’m back above 1.
“My dog ran off with my wife and I’m so sad”… like
“I just chopped my toe off”… Like.

@GBrunner321 nothing exciting… It’s because of pasta drop. My real-life persona is very quiet and private, I didn’t want my pasta drop victims opening up the forum there and seeing a comment from me and thinking “that sounds like Joe Smith” (not my real name) and clicking on my username and reading the other comments I wrote and saying “that really is Joe Smith!”.
Sounds weird- but I have actually been cyber-stalked before and I’ve always kept online me separate from offline me ever since. Once week six of pasta drop gets delivered, I’ll give it a week and then unhide my profile again.

I am not one to click like much, even on facebook, in fact it irritates me to get the “such and such responded” notifications of someone liking a post or photo. I don’t really CARE when people like my posts. I DO care when people have something to say however. I will always pay attention to words. THAT should speak much much louder than lazily clicking a button.
