@ZeroCharisma I know that some people somewhere got laid off and whatnot, but I don’t personally know anybody who got any of that extra free time to learn how to knit or perfect a sourdough.
Not that I want[ed] to be unemployed or anything, but it’s been “business as usual (except with more hassle)” for the last two years.
(For the record, I’m not minimizing any hardships that actual people actually went through, or any of the other problems brought on by the pandemic. It just seems like the popular trends on the internet applied to me about as much as Hollywood lifestyle normally applies to me. Which is to say, not at all.)

Mudvayne broke up for like a decade but just got back together last year. They’re on tour now, not sure if they’re in your area. Covid cancelled a couple of shows we had tickets to, Against Me! being the one I was most stoked for. Not rock, but we’re going to see the Mountain Goats on the 20th!
@2many2no On a separate note, I’m taking a short road trip to see Rage Against the Machine in NY this summer. Never seen them, can’t wait. So they’re coming back slowly but surely (rock shows that is).

Ugh, that is one of two books I was unable to finish in my youth… I still have it actually, it’s been pressing some flowers/plants for a decade.
@thebigtverberg The worst part is that the complete Silmarillion series will take 27 movies, at least six of which will be “Gandalf smokes his pipe and turns the page, part $N”.

Ha, didn’t get as far as Gandalf in that book. I started reading some of the lineage information in the beginning, was reminded of the bible, and tossed it under my bed. I should probably give it, and Tale of Two Cities another chance now that I’m more patient, but I doubt you’ll convince me to waste a Audible credit on either since that’s the only way I consume literature now.
@thebigtverberg What Tolkein wrote is not guaranteed to have a tremendous impact upon what’s in the adaptation. I’m figuring that the entire thing would have Gandalf researching the history as a framing mechanism, with all of the T-content presented as flashbacks.
We saw Dr. Strange already. That’s not summer! But it was nice to see actual blockbuster trailers again. Demographically I am required to be all hot and bothered for Maverick, but Lightyear looks like tons of fun.
Bobs Burgers
Probably the Bob’s Burgers movie, but I tell you what, The Bad Guys was good. Loved every minute of that film.
