Level of exhaustion. If I’m not tired enough, I’ll cling to whatever excuse and focus on it rather than fall asleep. When I get tired, I can zonk under a bench, on a tile floor, in a busy airport.
I can’t sleep without ACe, my wolf plushie. He was a gift from a former boyfriend (still good friends!) many years ago, and I take him with me everywhere.
cool to cold with appropriate sheets and blanket. White noise (fan or A/C) helps a lot. When it gets too warm I don’t sleep well. Extended power outages in the summer have been very unpleasant…
@2many2no@Pavlov@tinamarie1974 I get it. I used to suck my thumb to go to sleep, but different strokes for different folks…
I’d still be worried about choking.
The best sleeping experiences for me were when I was out of state in a hotel. Cranked the A/C and had two layers of cover (usually a sheet and a blanket) with the air unit being the only source of noise. I think a part of it is also jet lag and it doesn’t take long to actually fall asleep.
As opposed to here in Florida where I am typing this with a fan and one sheet. I’m recovering from heel surgery so the tingling nerve sensations aren’t helping. Once that goes away ( fingers crossed), I can bring back my bed fan:
must be cold enough so i can use the big comforter and thus be comfortable. also must be quiet and dark to fall asleep. once asleep, i can sleep through light/noise if i’m determined/really tired. although this was a more effective superpower when i was younger. fortunately, as i get older there’s less i have to try to sleep through, so it works out.
but yeah, if it’s hot, everything else could be ideal and i still wouldn’t be able to sleep.
All the above. I need quiet, dark and cool temp. I’m short on sleep right now because it’s too darn hot! Woke up covered in sweat. Got the window open and fan going but it’s just not enough. Don’t want to have to run the air conditioner yet (it’s still comfortable downstairs). Gonna have to get an evaporative cooler for the bedroom today. Any one of those factors involved, sleep won’t come easy. Apparently.
Where is temperature, and/or fan?
@regnowsin All around you, and/or on the ceiling…
@regnowsin That’s what I was going to say. To me, proper temperature outweighs all the rest, except for my wife not trying to talk at me all night.
Temperature, preferably just into “chilly” territory
Closing my eyes.

A flat surface, anywhere. Just let me lie down. This floor is fla… zzzzzzzz
As long as the racket of my spouse’s snoring can be suppressed, everything’s good
Gotta be cool!
Not being woken up by small children.
I like to think tiredness is my biggest factor.
All of the above. Actually minus the critter. I love the critters dearly - just not impinging on my beauty snooze…

Blowjob. Zzzzzz.
@Pavlov Wait, what? You can sleep through a blowjob!?
@2many2no @Pavlov uummmm I think that mean it is not being executed properly if you fall asleep during?
@Pavlov @tinamarie1974
@MrsPavlov would be disappointed to say the least if her efforts were undervalued.

@2many2no @tinamarie1974 I seem to recall a recent conversation that mentioned @MrsPavlov wouldn’t be too worried about it.
@Pavlov Hmm, I guess doing all that work would actually make you sleepy.
Good room darkening window shades.
I’m a day sleeper, can’t seem to rest before 5 AM.
Temperature (mild), light (dark), and noise (silence).

I’ll let you know when I figure it out.
I need a dark room, cool, a little fan noise doesn’t hurt, and, ideally, the Earth to revolve on a period of about 25 hours.
Melatonin + Doxylamine succinate.
It doesn’t take much. A cold room and a flat surface. Close my eyes and I am zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Wife not snoring!
Light and sound can be handled by eye masks and ear plugs. Rock hard mattress is a little more difficult to compensate.

I sleep best on a nice cold night when I can bundle up with like 3 blankets and not sweat.
Is all of the above an option?
I need air moving past my face. An open wind or a fan usually does the trick.

Brownies or other edibles.
