Said armadillo was a gift received over 20 years ago. A week or so after getting it, bugs started emerging from it. Stuck it in the fridge…no new bugs. Took it out a few years later and the bugs began re-emerging. Since then have left the armadillo in the fridge for increasing lengths of time to check bug survivability. Last time I checked was after a five-year period of refrigeration and those bugs are still ready to come out and play. They will undoubtedly outlast me.

What about spiked seltzer? My sister got a 12-pack, didn’t like it and gave it to me. I don’t like it either, but can’t quite bring myself to pour it out.
@speediedelivery for the whipped cream vodka you can also mix with root beer for a ‘root beer float’. I have also mixed it with ice cream and made a shake with it. I also have a bottle of whipped cream vodka in the back of my fridge. But only because I have a different brand I like better.
I do not like those alcoholic seltzers. I’ve tried a few different kinds and hate them all. Those usually have a Best Buy date on them. When truly first came out I tried it on the recommendation of a coworker, I ended up throwing it out after it’s Best Buy date.
A bunch of containers of water - both to take up space to keep things cool since my fridge doesn’t have a ton of food in it AND for times like this last week with yet again no end in sight - yet another boil water order. I think last year we had no water at all for 32 days and at least another month (if not more) of boil water orders. This city (state capital no less) is our own 3rd world country surrounded by the U S of A.
I came here to say I have a bunch of gallon jugs of water in the back of my fridge.
My reasons are different, primarily to occupy space in the fridge with something that doesn’t fall out onto the floor when the door is opened, the way air does. This reduces energy use. It also makes it easy to fit a huge turkey or other such thing in the fridge… just take out some water jugs.
Condiments live on the door, becuase they don’t need to be as cold and the door is the warmest place in the fridge. It also makes it easier to find the small bottles of hot sauce and ketchup or other sauce packets… FWIW, I have not purchased a bottle of ketchup in over a decade.
I’m sorry to read about your “3rd world” water issues, @Kidsandliz. In the 14 years I’ve lived here, the only time I’ve had water issues was when the city replaced the water main.

Opps. Good thing I didn’t swallow. They didn’t know about it there. Just as well as they likely would have cancelled apts.
Consumer Reports is including them in their next shitty city water article. I am sending them crap from my sink. Don’t have the collection bottle yet or I’d be tempted to send them a boil your water sample (unboiled) without telling them that just to get even with the city. Of course then we have the water meter crisis and the 4.3M or whatever it was they got via the lawsuit “disappeared” and no one knows to where (bet that took at least 4 or 5 people to make that untraceable) and then the alleged kickback new trash company scandal that comes with trash not being picked up some of the time.
What more could we ask for? Roads with holes deep enough to eat busses and stuff kicked up from them as they don’t sweep the streets so cracked and broken windshields all the time, water and trash problems, corrupt officials, 911 that doesn’t answer and police that don’t show up, nepotism at its finest, forged blood draw and respiration therapy certificate/certification scandals… and the list goes on and on. Ha! And then people wonder why the city is losing population.
@Kidsandliz Back in the '70s, I recall that when I was on my way to the western parks from Florida, I would come up US 49 through Hattiesburg and get on to I-20 there. And for about the next two miles the road was so uneven that there were a couple of places where you’d go into into a dip, come flying up the ramp on the other side of it, clear the next dip entirely, and smash your suspension in the third depression.

A variety of intentionally fermented foods. Pickles, kimchi, pepper sauce. Repeat, combine, etc. They last forever, unless it gets mold, but usually doesn’t age great. When the veg gets soft, I’ll usually put it in the chopper that I bought on meh.com and make a relish or something.

@Kyeh DH tried a 6 or 8 pack. Most was given away. Guy at work liked them. I had no interest in trying them.

Nothing, actually. My wife and I regularly clean out our fridge, and we are too poor to buy any food items we won’t eat within the next week.
