@werehatrack have one cat who is 19, he says “fuck you” and pisses mostly wherever he wants. he mostly stays in the carpeted master BR with attached (tiled) bath. so… today’s job is cleaning up the pee around the litterbox, mopping the floor in the bathroom (again), and shampooing the carpet in the BR (again). le sigh.
@catthegreat@werehatrack I had an ancient cat who decided she wasn’t going to get into the litter box anymore and peed on the carpet next to it. I put an area rug in, a piece of plastic tarp to protect the real carpet and just washed and cleaned as necessary. It’s not like you’re going to change them. I have dogs now. New sources of pain, but at least they pee outside.
@spacemart Yourself? It will take 5x longer and cost 3x as much as you expect now. Most likely if you are like me you will leave it in state of “well, that’s good enough for now; finish it later”
@blaineg@pmarin@spacemart I don’t mind new plumbing (I’ve installed my own plumbing for two complete new houses), but modifications and repairs of existing installations are a PITA. After 26 years in the current house, I’ve had to repair three minor leaks that developed this year (a shower drain, a toilet wax seal and an outside hydrant). I hope it’s not the start of a trend.
Tidying the basement… mostly because I don’t have a basement. So the first step would be to dig the basement which in Houston will quickly become an indoor pool.
Filing… I have one 13 gal garbage bag full of stuff I no longer need to file (so rewarded for not doing it) but still can’t find the stuff I was looking for. Sigh. I guess I will have to continue tomorrow again when I get up.

That’s half the job right there, it’s just that you have to open the machine and wash / remove with your fingers, or a paper towel…… all of the wet dog hair, lint, and whatever else gets sucked up too. That’s the yuck part of mopping. Bring back the pet hair roomba so I can buy it.
All of the above - I live in an RV. OTOH, we’re taking our home into the shop this morning to get steps replaced, the CO monitor replaced, and the front furnace fixed. It’s currently 37F in SE Arizona and I really would like a working furnace.
Is cleaning the garage the same as the basement? I need to do some Swedish death cleaning. My mother used to say she was going to clean her garage for over 20 years. My sister and I did it after she was gone.
Well my kid hated toilets and the cat dirt boxes. So when she got to pick jobs she didn’t pick those. The rule in the house was if I had to drive to school because you forgot something (school was 8.5 miles from our house) she’d owe me twice the time it took me to get there and back in hard manual labor doing whatever I told her to do. I always told her to do toilets and dirt boxes.
Let’s just say that the number of trips I had to make quickly dropped off.
