We knew this year was going to be nuts, but between the Big 10 being over seeded and the PAC 12/Loyola under, most people’s brackets are a mess. The PAC 12 is on a rampage.
I am a big March Madness fan, and have still watched a ton of games, but for whatever reason, I didn’t even consider filling out a bracket. While its an ideal activity to “compete” against others online, I think not having a friendly pool amongst friends (not knowing when the money would exchange hands) reduced some of the motivation.
@DrWorm
It’s really easy to set up a group on ESPN and it tracks everyone’s totals and possible points left. I set it up for work. Once you get it set up, the hard part is sending the invites to people.
@mtb002 Yeah, that was what I was trying to say. Setting up a bracket and tracking a group’s picks online is easy. Removing the monetary part is what demotivated it for me (my office is all working from home). I guess everyone could Venmo/Paypal the winner, but forcing everyone to sign up for a $5 wager didn’t seem worth the effort. And quite frankly, with some of the guys I work with, if you don’t collect their cash on the front end, they are going to try to stiff you when they don’t win.
Is this a sports thing? Are those still happening?
Bracket?
shredded – can my broken bracket be returned to Amazon?
Friend: I watched a lot of NCAA games this year. I am thinking I have a real shot with my bracket picks!
Me: Oh Are You.
I’m sure Warren Buffett would owe me lots of money. If only I had bothered to fill one out this year.
Rats! Put all my money on them stopping at two games.
@DoctorOW Some of the teams did.

I live in Indiana. People here honest to goodness start conversations this way.

Oh, we don’t play for money, more people play when there’s no money in our office. We just like to see who’s got ESP.
