Ever since I got the chance to gaze upon the (not so rare) American Lummox I was immediately concerned with how many shoes they must wear holes through the sole(and maybe soul too) from doing the tell-tale foot drag that is so common amongst them!
IDK about others but I have several where the fly button is a thumb down from the top… Then your entire hand can fit below the button. Whoever designed these does not understand how “things” work.
I wear them around the house sometime but def not answering the door or going to the mailbox. I’d prefer boxers
I am constantly amazed at the number of people that will show up at the ER in PJ bottoms (complete with fuzzy slippers shaped like animals etc). I am never sure if that’s a subtle “see how sick I am” ploy, or what, but it is generally inappropriate. House shoes are NOT what you want dragging around an ER floor!
@chienfou I showed up once, in Nov/Dec in yoga pants (or shorts?) a tshirt and I think flip flops. Could not stand up straight and could barely walk. I put on whatever was in arms reach.
I was in so much pain I didn’t care what I was wearing. Ended up getting emergency gallblader surgery

I can totally see that. What I am thinking about is those who have been ‘sick for 3 days’, haven’t been to their PCP, and make a stop at the snack machine in the lobby before coming back to be triaged/treated.
Lots of folks show up in ‘the clothes in arms reach’ or ratty workclothes they had on when they got injured etc. You can generally tell those that really feel shitty vs those that need a work excuse or can’t be bothered to go to their dr’s office because they don’t want to make a co-pay.
Some will say they are rebels and just “don’t give a Fuck”, others say “I’m not going to spend my life worrying about what other people think about me!”(also super original). I prefer to say, “Quit being lazy and have some goddamn self respect because it usually makes you look like a slob who couldn’t be bothered to put any effort into how shitty that looks so get out of sleep clothes and it’s time to be awake now!(both literally and figuratively)”
The only exception, of course, is Pajama Day at school or protesting an unjust removal thereof.
Preferable to forgetting to wear pants.
