If you’re going to get fancy with loose leaf teas, you might want to invest in a variable temp kettle. If you steep white/yellow/green teas too hot, you lose a lot of the flavor and it gets bitter. Black/roobios/herbals are a lot more forgiving.
@mtb002 the part that varies in tea is the temperature and steep duration. You can adjust both of these with this, so it seems alright. You’re heating your own water (I would use my varieTEA as you mentioned) to the desired temp for the color of tea, then set the timer on this device for the time for the temperature. It actually would work out pretty well. I’m always ADDed out when my 2 minute timer goes off for my green tea and I don’t reach it in time to push the plunger on my steeper. This would be great for my ADHD ass.

French Press doesn’t require batteries. So, what is the advantage of this ball bearing/magnetic gizmo? Seems like the Rube Goldberg method of coffee making award winner.
It may be stupid because you still have to manually boil water and pour it over the grounds - but at least it also puts a few batteries in a landfill a couple times a year.
Seriously - boil the water in a pot, drop in the coffee, and use one of the dozen timers that’s probably on your smartphone to time it before you pour it through this. You’ll get the same points on your hipster punch card without plastic and batteries.

A thrift store near by acquired a dozen vintage “Mr. Coffee Away From Home” 4 cup units from a dead motel. Better build quality than the current 20-buckers and it was $3. This is the first thing I’ve purchased from Meh and IT IS AMAZING! I was super stoked for it to arrive and had my tea picked out and waiting when it came. I gave it a nice wash, added my tea leaves and hot water, set the timer… and (as usual) I forgot about it. I heard the beep and as as I was thinking “what is that?” my tea was safely released into the carafe. Perfection! No longer will my tastebuds suffer from the bitterness of overbrewed tea because of my inability to focus. My TaC brewer has already earned a place next to my water filter and temp control kettle. I am not a coffee drinker but for my serious tea folks out there this is well worth it. My only regret is that I only purchased one. Hopefully, they’ll come back for an encore.
I would prefer this to the $20 POS drip brewers out there. Honestly, it’s probably pretty good. There are so many options that it’s hard to keep track. I’ve been using an aeropress with a microwave and an electric grinder for a couple of years, but geez, am I really getting better coffee than pour-over/stove-kettle/manual-grinder guy? Almost anything is better than K-cups or drip folgers, just pick something different and go with it if you care about your coffee.
@Superllama7 Keep an eye out for the Motif machines that come up on here occasionally. Works basically like a pour over. Makes a great pot of coffee or a cup if that’s all you want.

Great value, very happy. I just wish they’d make them so the presoak could be set by timer.

I just keep half and half and turbinado sugar on hand. Best coffee maker I’ve had. As far as options the Ninja Coffee bar I had was pretty impressive and brewed great iced coffee.

I suspect had they priced it normally (msrp it at 39.99 and sell for 20) it would have sold a few… they could put them next to the french presses in stores.
I have also found that it works great with a previous meh offering… so if you bought any of these break one out and place the ring upon… just don’t fill the TaC to the top line (the line under max) since they are not as big as the included carafe.

Its market is people who are tea connoisseurs but are too busy to actually monitor the tea. That’s a very tiny segment (all excellent people, I’m sure, but not many of them). Too busy? Teabag. Iconic Tea connoisseur? Spend time making the tea. End result? Dump the product on Meh (where it seems there may be enough of a market - at an unsustainable price).

Almost nothing automatic about this. It simply mashes the pour-over method with automatic drip and takes away the best things about both methods (controlled pour, clean filter, actual design, automation, etc.). Absolute meh.

At the Amazon price, this coffee-brewing system was completely ridiculous. (For $80, it ought to heat its own water!) So this price makes a LOT more sense.
But, for now, Mr. Coffee keeps his job. We go back a long way.
(BTW, Sam’s Club Members Mark coffee in the big, red can is every bit as good as Dunkin Donuts.)

Mine arrived not working, it won’t pour. It makes a whirrring sound and the screen flashes and it resets itself but won’t pour the water. I’m getting a replacement unit, hopefully it works!
I ordered two of the tea brewers and one coffee brewer, but I received two coffee and only one tea. Hoping that meh makes it right…I’ve never had to return anything to Meh. How is the customer support here? Never have had an issue and am always happy with what I’ve received. I suppose I need to crack open the tea brewer and one of the coffee brewers to make sure they are in good working order.

I ordered two of these items. I put fresh batteries in both of them. One unit works great(coffee maker). The tea unit, though I can’t seem to get it to work. If I push the power button, I hear a noise, but no light or number appears like with the coffee maker. If I keep pushing power button, I get an “FA” code. Instructions say nothing about an “FA” code.
So far my only complaint about this thing is it will occasionally pop the filter up letting ground coffee through into the finished product. The first time I figured maybe I didnt seat the metal filter or dumped water in just the wrong way, the second time 2 days later(it worked fine on saturday) I was relaxing scrolling through fb, and heard a pop, and the filter had come up and hit the top cover? Is this normal?
@Huffie86 I have made aprox. 10 jugs o’ coffee and it hasn’t happened to me… but the jars are glass and the filter is plastic… I could see a mfg defect causing it to happen. Unscrew the ball bearing mechanism from the bottom and look at the jar where the filter hits… is it circular? Is the filter circular? If not might be a defect.
Had my coffee grinds and warm room temp water sitting overnight in the top jug , filled up to the to 1000ml line…in the morning I held the power button for a sec , until the 60 second timer started up. I tried this multiple times but coffee would NOT pour.
So I tried this…I emptied out the top jog , into third empty container I had around the kitchen… With top jug now empty I cleaned the top jug and the metal+plastic filter assembly. I could see that my last night’s coffee grinds had soiled and hardened up around the bottom filter…washed it all out in the sink, put everything back, and poured my dirty coffee back into the top jug. Hit the power button waited 60 sec for the countdown, out came nice clean filtered warm brew! Putting it now in the fridge and mixing with ice cubes to make it cold brew.

Which one would I get if I wanted to put butter in to infuse with my ‘tea’ or ‘coffee’? The coffee set or the tea set?

So… double the cleanup, a battery operated valve on a timer.
I’d need a thermal carafe for it not to cool before I finished the first cup, likely.

What is the max amount of time you can steep or brew for? It’s a 2 digit display so the max is 99 minutes? My guess is no but could someone verify.

@radi0j0hn I like Serious Eats method for FrenchPress coffee which requires no stirring at all.
30 second bloom of the ground coffee with some of the boiled water. Then slowly pour in the rest of the water and let it sit 5-10 minutes (I like 10).

Took a couple days to get back to me, but they did and solved the problem bing bang boom. Go meh. I have bought quite a few things recently seems like cooler stuff lately

I ordered two of these items. I put fresh batteries in both of them. One unit works great(coffee maker). The tea unit, though I can’t seem to get it to work. If I push the power button, I hear a noise, but no light or number appears like with the coffee maker. If I keep pushing power button, I get an “FA” code. Instructions say nothing about an “FA” code.
@misobrilliant I would contact support, my guess is it’s short for “FAULT”.
My order is lost in the postal system and I am getting no response from MEH to help me.
So far my only complaint about this thing is it will occasionally pop the filter up letting ground coffee through into the finished product. The first time I figured maybe I didnt seat the metal filter or dumped water in just the wrong way, the second time 2 days later(it worked fine on saturday) I was relaxing scrolling through fb, and heard a pop, and the filter had come up and hit the top cover? Is this normal?
@Huffie86 I have made aprox. 10 jugs o’ coffee and it hasn’t happened to me… but the jars are glass and the filter is plastic… I could see a mfg defect causing it to happen. Unscrew the ball bearing mechanism from the bottom and look at the jar where the filter hits… is it circular? Is the filter circular? If not might be a defect.
Had my coffee grinds and warm room temp water sitting overnight in the top jug , filled up to the to 1000ml line…in the morning I held the power button for a sec , until the 60 second timer started up. I tried this multiple times but coffee would NOT pour.
So I tried this…I emptied out the top jog , into third empty container I had around the kitchen… With top jug now empty I cleaned the top jug and the metal+plastic filter assembly. I could see that my last night’s coffee grinds had soiled and hardened up around the bottom filter…washed it all out in the sink, put everything back, and poured my dirty coffee back into the top jug. Hit the power button waited 60 sec for the countdown, out came nice clean filtered warm brew! Putting it now in the fridge and mixing with ice cubes to make it cold brew.
