I let our love spawn pick some items from the valentines aisle to give her. We hid them in the kid’s room, so it was our secret to surprise mommy. We also made her a card.
Going on 11 years married. Shacked-up a few years before that.
I’m adding a question because I’m curious if there is any correlation having to do with gift value and/or length of time together.
3. Did you have “intimate times” on the 14th?
Me? No.
I made him this. He’s a huge Spider-Man nut. It’s silly and dumb but I wanted to give him a giant card. He told me a couple weeks ago that when he was little he’d always get classmates the Spider-Man Valentine’s but then hold on to a few because he wanted to receive ones just like it. So I incorporated some of them as well.
We’re new at this, just a year. But hopefully many many more to come.
I gave a card and five Milky Way bars all bought on Monday. I got a card and a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts. We’re pretty low key here. Some years we haven’t done anything at all.
We don’t usually do cards, but we do give each other gifts. This year I got him a cool suitcase for his work trips, a set of clip-on bait towels for his boat, and a nice rechargeable flashlight; also for his boat. He got me a set of soup spoons, (now we have all matchy flatware!) a Life Straw for my emergency kit, and an Avengers shower curtain. (all of these items were on my wish list) He also cooked me a divine steak and shrimp dinner.
Been together 14.5 years, been married 10.5 of them.
@SSteve yeah, we tend to go a little nuts on ‘loot holidays’. We both really love giving each other presents, and there were times early in our relationship that we were one step from homeless, so gifts weren’t doable. Now that we can, we do.
Yes, but also no. She got me an actual gift. I bought the sushi we had for dinner. But it’s all from the same checking account so, in a sense, did either of us really buy the other anything? Next year, however, I feel I must really up my game back to its courtship levels. I once wrote a poem and had a calligrapher write it onto a fancy scroll for valentine’s day, in some goofy tribute to ye olden traditions. That has earned me years of slack, but I feel like the time has come to once again make one grand, cheesy, gesture and then go into hiding for several years.
I’ll start it off:
(And before you ask, we’re good to go for another 28.)
No
Zero years zero days zero hours zero min zero sec zero picoseconds.

Sorry.
And in all fairness, I got a new laptop and he got a new gun within the last month, so that covers us both for the next few holidays.
@PurplePawprints
I like you Val Fay choc.
And I like last month’s stuff too.
@Pony Wow! You really do it big! Our choir’s opening potluck was Tuesday so that’s what we did for dinner. I made a big pot of chicken green chili.
