Really mixed true and tidy reviews.
Also to use the one year warranty it says:
“contact customer service for return authorization…carefully pack your unit and return to the service
center. Please enclose a note or letter explaining the issue along
with proof of purchase and $9.95 for shipping and handling.”
It doesn’t say anything about being sent a prepaid mailing label so it appears as if the buyer is on the hook for shipping both ways, even when the item fails?
I had an excellent $700 Italian steam mop with a lifetime guarantee that my ex- threw out and I have been hoping to find a cheap but somewhat functional replacement.
Does anyone actually have the STM700?
I know it’s not going to be a quality item, but is it better than regular mopping, at least?
My biggest concern is the reviews that state the cleaning pad doesn’t make proper contact with the floor owing to the ridged design of the steam element.
I don’t have this one - I have a good one. Here in FL most houses are tile floored - and these things are a must-have.
But anyway - do yourself a favor and buy a couple gallons of distilled water - even the “purest” of tap will cause a ton of build-up over time in this thing. I have some of the best city water in the country - and I still get scale from the salt in my softener.
If not, you’re definitely going to need some coffee maker descaler - otherwise this will eventually just clog up.
Works pretty well for $50. I did my entire downstairs in 10 minutes. Sure beats mopping. Tip: the plastic frame to hold the pad on is garbage. It keeps the pad from contacting the floor and is unnecessary as the pads themselves have Velcro.
Is it from Cleveland?
You had me at ‘locomotive’.
Mop mop mop, all day long, mop mop mop while I sing this song….
@Num1Zero I shall beat you severely…
@Num1Zero I love that whoever does the highlights got my reference or was at least smart enough to google it.

@brasscupcakes I am fascinated by the idea of a $700 steam mop. What does it do that my early-2009 Shark doesn’t?
@brasscupcakes I think i know why they are your ex…
CH00-CH00-MFER indeed.
@shahnm Perhaps you meant to say:
OH MY GOD! THEY VAPORIZED IRK!
@macromeh I AM NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE VARIOUS SITUATIONS AND OCCASIONAL PENDING DEMISES OF IRK, ONLY GLEN, HAVEN’T YOU BEEN PAYING ATTENTION?!!!
@shahnm Sorry - I didn’t realize that you were so singularly focused with the pearl-clutching exclamations. I am suitably contrite.
@macromeh NO WORRIES!!!
Looks good, for those who like clean things. For those of us who have given up, Meh.
Two questions:
Will it steam broccoli?
Are the slippers and robe included?
@phendrick
Badly, and no.
I bought one of these last time it was on meh, used it once and it sucked. Put it in the trash.
@betaRepeating don’t be a hater it didn’t want to be boxed in by stereotypes and had dream of being a vaccum.

Tidy whitey clean!
Almost worth buying for the model number.
So… no Meh-rethon this month?
@guybrush01 Month isn’t over yet. Calm down.
/giphy calm down

Another mop flop. Flop mop?
@radi0j0hn Plop it on your slop drop.
Will this get mopped up?
Are the mop pads machine washable?
@kurrelgyre I have the budget model and the pads are washable. You can also buy extras. At least for the True and Tidy I own.
Nope!
Will it clean Grout on the Kitchen Tile???
Something like this would be nice for my kitchen and bathroom floors but I’m not supposed to be spending money right now. I have to buy a car.
