Yeah, your last few days should be an unadulterated hell. Sorry 'bout that.
…I am now second-guessing at least tomorrow (thanks).
And wow, while you aren’t what I would call “traditional”…
…you guys are definitely a scratch bunch! So as we are now entering the homestretch of the Thanksgiving holiday, and hoping at least those of you on the East coast are done with prep for the night, we look forward to the post feast activities.

Today we ask the quintessential question of the holiday. No it’s not how long it will take before weird uncle Larry takes his left sock off and unbuttons his pants. And it’s not even a This or That kind of choice. I hope that doesn’t throw too many of you off for the day. I would hate to be responsible for that. The question is simple.

I’m thankful for my family, friends, frenemies, neighbors & acquaintances. I’m grateful for relatively good health. I’m glad I didn’t die awhile ago when I was ailing so bad.
Oh, and of course all the mehtizens.

I’m thankful for a little this and a little that.
And that I’m no longer married to their mother.
Family… mostly.
We all ended up getting sick (sick kids is the worst!), so we’re no longer traveling for Thanksgiving and doing an impromptu dinner at home (with a total of zero traditional foods). But, that means we’re not traveling in the snow storm tomorrow so that’s good!
So I guess I’m thankful for not being forced to go to an awkward family gathering?

@luvche21 20 minutes before I left work yesterday my voice started to crack.
Woke up this morning… Totally fucked. I’m already 80+ miles from home so I’m just going to keep my distance from everyone and make sure I wash my hands a million times more.
Should of known better. One of my coworkers came in sick… Was off a few days, came in sick again, took another day off, came back sick. This is not the first time I’ve gotten sick after this person.

Hope you get better fast., and that you got your flu shot a few weeks back.
What a crummy manager to allow sick workers back before they’re healthy or to not offer enough sick leave for their employees to stay away from the other healthy workers that keep the business going or are not prepared enough to have flexible capacity in their workforce to account for the fact that people get sick.
And the crazy part is we get our healthcare from our employers who have vested interests in offering us the cheapest/crappiest plan available, and in their employees never using it and can take away our healthcare by firing us because the true cost is hidden in the part of your pay you never see - until you do under ERISA.

@luvche21 @tinamarie1974 @mike808 thanks all. Unfortunately when I was at the doctor’s several weeks ago they didn’t offer and I forgot to ask. I was there for another reason so I guess they forgot. I was just saying two days ago that I need to go get it.
I’m REALLY hoping it’s not that bad. I feel better now that I’ve taken some allergy pills and drank a boat load of water. My voice is still not hanging about though.

@f00l @mike808 @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 It’s not the flu here, but it still is no fun. Luckily got out enough to get a cheap rotisserie chicken to count as a turkey. So much easier than cooking turkey while sick!
Thankful for all I have, and a lot of what I don’t…
Family, friends, generally good health, and good prospects for being able to return to gainful employment someday soon and thus to continue to refrain from homelessness…

Thankful for the pause in the usual hectic world, even if it’s filled with a different sort of hectic, at least a gentler one of sharing and cooking and a chance to step out of the routine to look around and think, yeah, there’s some crap going on but it’s pretty good over all …
I’m thankful that it’s 70 and sunny here, and that my last-minute apple pie came out well, and that my neighbor the pro cook invited me over for dinner with his family. They live directly across the street. Travel was minimal.
