owned a couple of trucks from Datsun (mid 70’s models back in the 80’s) They were great and pretty much bulletproof. Drove them till the wheels fell off.
Story was that the name was developed by a German ad company who were tasked with coming up with a company name in 7 days. Their response was “Ach du lieber… dat soon?”
Definitely dignity. We’re going to have a third child within the next few months and I know I was a babbling idiot due to sleep deprivation after the first two were each born, so adding a few more years will also contribute to that downhill slide
@guyfromhawthorn It’s also because by function of your paternal role, you instantly become less cool and it gets progressively worse until your kids come out of adolesence. Then when they become adults it normalizes as does your dignity.
Thanks for the encouragement, but so far, especially being cooped up in the house with two and attempting to educate them, I’m just not feeling like I’m a terrible successful parent
@guyfromhawthorn@katbyter Said every parent in the world. Man, we’re all just barely making it. You fail, you succeed, you wash the dishes, and then you get up and do it again the next day.
It always helps me to remind myself that they’re looking at everything I do, but that I don’t have to be perfect to be a good parent. I do however need to put in the effort and to be quick to listen to them and engage in their stories and what they want to share with me as much as reasonably possible (at some point chores need to get done).
Seriously, you got it. Kids can tell when you care and are invested. This can be applied to anything, but especially kids…

@guyfromhawthorn@katbyter@zinimusprime And remember. When they make you feel stupid or unloved or like you aren’t doing a good job, it’s mostly because they’re testing the waters. How you react will help shape them.
Well since I cannot see without them I don’t lose my glasses ever but I do lose my remote my keys my wallet my purse my lighter my smokes I remote my sense of sanity my sense of self my jewelry my money mostly I lose my money
@tweezak I’m sorry you and others have lost jobs or affected by family members laid off, etc. This community is good for support and ideas, but it’s rough on you regardless. Take care of yourselves and feeling sad and down on yourself is normal, but ask for help (here, IRL, it’s there but needs you to let it know) and don’t let it consume you. [digital hug]
@mollama Hey, thanks. I actually still have a job and I love what I do and the people I work with are fantastic. But every silver lining has its cloud and this one is very low pay. In 2019 I was hit by a huge workforce reduction and lost my job of 30 years the last 5 of which I had spent as a well paid electrical engineer. Unable to relocate I was forced to go back to being an engineering technician working for $19/hr. Fortunately my wife and I live simply and can make it on my check and her social security. Hopefully the company I work for will take me on permanent when my contract ends.
But thank you for the kind words and thoughts. I don’t know you but it is a nice feeling to just experience kindness right now when so many are spreading division and hatred over differences of opinion. It’s very sad.
Be well and continue to spread good feelings. Maybe we can heal one person at a time.
