@chuegen i was thinking that once the site launched it would cease to be as “mysterious and unpredictable.” not gonna spend thirty dollars on an unknown amount, personally.
@halfling@Kaieta he said he was sending it to drunk him. Which means he’s either perpetually drunk or will watch and get drunk on the day it’s said to arrive. Maybe he meant to say from drunk him which is much easier to accomplish and makes a ton more sense.
My wife got her’s. I kept telling her I had was sending her noods…she wasn’t thrilled. Then the 5 boxes arrived. She still wasn’t thrilled. Each box contains 2 smaller boxes…100 lbs in total. She thought it was funny, but I made the mistake of keeping what I was sending her a secret and I think she let her imagination think it was something nice…
@tightwad yeah… I think my wife thinks she is getting something nice too… Only got one tracking number so I’m probably only getting 10lbs… So the humor factor won’t even be there.
I will keep quiet that I spent so much on just 10lbs of pasta… Lol
@Deuce0222 that’s a lot of pasta! Still waiting on mine to ship, was hoping it was gonna be a big ole load of pasta but I don’t think I have anywhere to put that much!
@Deuce0222 oh man, I hope my sister gets 100lbs of pasta. It would be HILARIOUS! Especially since she just told me last night she is trying to cut back on grains/carbs. I’m going to look evil! Hahahahahaah
@Deuce0222
So awesome, I can’t wait till my penne ships all over the country at a turtle speed before being delivered to my mom. She’s gonna shit pasta for sure.
@OnionSoup Sorry for delay getting back. I only had 1 tracking #, but friend told story of her mail carrier giving her the stink eye before delivering 5 20# boxes.
Her: More pasta?
Me: Yeah. 100 pounds in total now.
Her: …it can’t just sit there inside the front door.
Me: Where should I…
Her: You better figure it out!
It won’t let me Pasta Drop at all. It keeps coming up with the “Something went wrong on our end” message. Meh.com is taking a long time to load pages as well. Did Pasta Drop break the internet? Meh was so determined to try this experiment that no one bothered to ask if they should. The ramifications of their hubris could be devastating.
@alandanziger I was able to get through right after posting this. Coincidence? Well…probably. It still took three times to get the order to go through once I actually got to the order page (which was the first time I saw how much the thing actually cost, which was weird). It was like trying to buy an IRK. Speaking of which, mine still hasn’t even shipped from the last Meh-rathon. Let’s see which one shows up first, the pasta or the IRK.
And it’s not from my order number. Would someone like to confess who sent this? You can whisper to me if you are shy and you don’t want anyone to know that you are a nice person. I WON’T TELL!
Otherwise, just shout it out that you helped the bestest little ol’ nursing home in Oz.
It’s now 60 pounds Spaghettini total for Grace Cottage.
Took a number of attempts to get through. Order finally went through… and my credit card flagged it. “HEY, WHY WOULD YOU BE MAIL-ORDERING PASTA? THAT SEEMS WEIRD, PLEASE REVIEW THIS”
I’m sad that the spag I sent to myself only amounted to 10 pounds. We’re eating a lot of pasta lately. Torn bag, trashed box. 88 cents a pound for name brand on sale at the supermarket. I sent the second drop to a friend. It won’t be funny or fun if she gets only 10 pounds, so fingers crossed. I’ve been a meh fan since the beginning, and a vmp member forever, and I’m bummed.
100 lbs of spaghettini. Ten bags with ten pounds each. I was planning on giving it to the local food bank. I hope they’re ok with ten-pound bags. Luckily, my Sunday mail carrier thought it was funny. My regular carrier couldn’t fit it in the truck so didn’t deliver it.
@medz@SSteve@tinamarie1974 I just hope my wife doesn’t learn to turn the spaghettini and penne into some sort of weapon when she finds out who sent all this pasta to her.
@medz 5 tracking numbers here, as well… and I only ordered one. It’s going to be interesting to see if it’s (5) 20-lb boxes of spaghettini. Part of me hopes not, and part of me hopes so.
@medz@vandemusser I wonder if the larger orders are going out first or if it’s going to be like that for everyone.
I truly hope it’s for everyone (or at least what I sent the Mrs.). 100lbs of pasta would be very funny… Especially if she got 100lbs of Penne the very next week.
Spaghettini is noones favourite in my household. We prefer thicker more toothier pastas… But we would learn to like it…
Honestly if it was that much then we would donate the vast bulk of it and just keep a little.
Getting 4 boxes one day thinking “holy poo, that’s a lot of pasta” then getting one the next day will make them paranoid of pasta trickling in non stop.
@medz@melwin@vandemusser they haven’t shipped a pallet of anything since the early woot days have they? That would be funny though… alas I believe those days are in the past.
@medz@OnionSoup@SSteve@riotdemon@barney So I just got a FRANTIC call from my mom asking if I know anything about a pasta delivery. She does not know what is going on and who delivered SO MUCH pasta!!! WHAT IS SHE GOING TO DO WITH ALL THIS PASTA!!! THIS IS CRAZY!!!
Amid laughter I was able to ask what delivered, four boxes at 20# each for a total of 80#'s.
Just wait until that fifth box shows up. I am NOT telling her it is en route!!
@snapster thank you for allowing me to laugh harder than I have for quite a while!!
@Barney@medz@OnionSoup@RiotDemon@snapster@SSteve just called me back. Still freaking out. Said the mail lady was baffled and wanted to know if they REALLY ORDERED THIS MUCH PASTA??? She wanted to know what they were gonna do with it!!!
She asked me to stay for a spaghetti dinner hahahaha
She asked me to order a Pasta Drop for one of her brothers, because “If he thought it was so funny lets see what he thinks when it shows up on his porch” WOW!!
@Barney@medz@OnionSoup@raccoon81@RiotDemon@snapster@SSteve there was a $5.00 off coupon included but since I used my account it was not valid (1st time purchase only) no matter, I don’t think she cared either way. She just wants to “get” her brother.
Mine for my wife is still in Texas, seems to be held up there for a week. Once it finally leaves, if like other meh products it’s 7-10 days away. I still have a while until I witness the horror. (But mine is only one shipping label so presumably only 20lbs… Maybe I’ll hit jackpot with the Penne… Which would be better since she likes that more)
As an aside… Did you know a single stand of spaghetti is a spaghetto? Presumably a single strand of spaghettini is a spaghettino.
@Kidsandliz@RiotDemon@tinamarie1974 ugh… I don’t mind getting less than other people and some people getting large amounts, but I’d feel very let down if I only got 10lbs. That’s expensive pasta.
Hoping for 20lbs. At that price it’s not the cheapest but still a reasonable price and don’t mind paying the little extra compared to what I’d do at grocery store because profits are partially going to a good cause.
@Kidsandliz@OnionSoup@RiotDemon I answered the phone today and after saying HELLO I hear, “you are really fruit. Do you think you are funny? You sent me ANOTHER pasta drop???” After laughing hysterically I explained it was the last box in her shipment … 100# in total. Lets just say she does not think it is as funny as I do
@Kidsandliz@RiotDemon@tinamarie1974 that’s awesome… And the funny thing is, she can’t plan on “getting you back” because there’s no guarantee of the 100lbs.
Finally saw what my shipment weight is on PB website 22lbs (so 20lb of pasta and 2lbs of air and cardboard)
Not a ludicrous amount but I’m expecting a “why?” phone call from the wife and some exasperated sighs when it arrives… maybe it will arrive tomorrow… In my home town now.
She doesn’t know she will get Penne next too. That could be amusing.
They have several addresses that track. The one above has an order details button that if you click after first tracking your package it shows the weight.
@Kidsandliz@OnionSoup@RiotDemon@tinamarie1974 Thanks for posting this… just found out my first 3 drops are all 20 pounds, including 1 each to the three F’s: Friend, Family, Food bank.
Looks like mine will only be 10lbs according to tracking. It’s fine for what I got it for, but I won’t be dropping $20 on a future drop when there’s a chance of only 10lbs while others are getting 100lbs. If there was a guarantee of at least 20lbs I would probably do this again.
Mine arrived, 20lbs, lovingly swaddled with Texas air and double-boxed. No damage, all good.
I had some for dinner. It was okay. I cooked it for 8 minutes like I usually cook De Cecco “thin spaghetti” but it ended up overdone. I have 39 more opportunities to practice! Until the linguine arrives.
@chienfou@smozi I think that’s the point? A few people have made the observation that pasta is already relatively inexpensive (<$1/lb.) at grocery stores. Who knows how long PastaDrop lasts? 6 months, until restaurants open back up and supply chains re-equalize? Maybe it morphs into an Italian restaurant supply center? Who knows… but it’s not your standard known-quantity deal, it’s more akin to the “grab bag” style loot boxes out there with a single product. Regardless, I’m in for 1.
It’s amazing how many people apparently do possess the ability to read but cannot read an entire email or keep a secret.
Also, unknown errors occurred when trying to drop pasta. Waiting to make sure I don’t start getting confirmation emails before trying again later. This is exciting!

We also have a few assumptions.
a) This is the box the pasta arrives in
b) The box is square rather than some weird shape because someone was drunk when they ordered the box.
c) the length of the spaghetti is ~10in or 250mm and this correlates to the length of the box.
Next we can assume that we have two orthogonal surfaces whose projection can be represented by the matrices
Uhhh… Look, it took linear algebra a while ago so maybye it is called a multidimensional array? but yea.
@Fen_Star using advanced trig I have determined we are getting 4.5X mm3 of pasta where X is an unknown number. But this should work out to be 2.3Y lbs of pasta where Y is also an unknown number.
If people are randomly getting from 10-100 lbs of noodles for $20, I think this experiment is going to die quickly. A big amount is both funny and possibly worth it. $2 a lb pasta in large damaged packages isn’t really funny or worth it.
@kevinrs yeah, I’ve placed two orders. Spaghettini and Penne. First orders sent to my wife to see what it was like before sending it elsewhere.
Neither has left Texas yet. I’ll be pretty annoyed if after all this wait all I have is 10lbs of pasta. It looks like the people who got theirs first got the large amounts of pasta, so I’m assuming since I’m last I am going to be one of those with very little pasta. Probably the dust left over from the bags of pasta that broke.
Depending on how frequent the 10lb bags are, I might not do a third drop, I was going to drop pasta to family if it was a good deal…(I wish they showed the frequency of each weight so we had some idea). I don’t want to be spending $2/lb on pasta though… That’s not much cheaper than the sale price for chicken at Lidl.
If guarenteed (or at least likey) to get 20lbs or more, I’m ok with it. Yeah, can get pasta cheaper, but it’s less fun.
@Barney my sister’s arrives today or tomorrow. I’m so excited!! I’ve done a surprisingly good job at keeping my mouth shut so far. I never keep secrets

The anticipation is killing me. Mine hasn’t shipped yet and now my brother’s girlfriend is going back to school. This means that it might get stolen from their front door. Florida wasn’t supposed to open until they got their pasta.
@ivannabc Disappointed? I think I probably would be, at least a little bit. I’ve ordered 5 drops so far but none have arrived (the first two have made it from Texas to Georgia and still have to come to North Carolina, but they’ve been in Georgia for a couple of days now, so I don’t know when they will arrive.)
@gymbrall yeah maybe a little. $2 a lb is a tad steep. The one I ordered for my son has been hanging out in his city for 8 days now. I have bought some of each of the first three for my son and my parents. So we’ll see what they get. If th ey get 10 lb bags too, I’ll pass on any more orders
Anyone else get a single 5lb package of noodles in an open bag? That’s what I’m told was received by the person I ordered this for. Disappointed and thinking it shouldn’t be eaten since the bag was already opened.
@andreweller@Noddy93@RiotDemon actually I read on one website that they laid off a bunch of people to cut back on costs. .
So the reason it’s taking so long, and why some of us still don’t have our orders from Mehcatalyst sites placed back in early April is twofold. They fired everyone that worked in the warehouse so it’s taking longer to fill the boxes to ship in the first place. And secondly shipping times have slowed way down too.
Well just like all my most recent irk purchases, it seems I got the bottom of the barrel package again. I got 10 lbs, but at least my bag appears to be sealed. This will be the first and last drop for me. I agree with other posts that said the minimum should have been 20 lbs. Would have been happy with that, and laughed with others getting 100. Getting 10 just feels like I subsidized nicer packages for others. I’ll just take my coupons and walk away from pastadrop.
@RdiPr yep I wish I had gotten mine before I had ordered for my parents and son. I’m going to feel like it’s a complete waate if I spent $60 on $20 worth of pasta.
I can’t read all of the earlier 700 posts, but I was tracking mine when a seemingly stealth box arrived Saturday (!!) afternoon from USPS with 20 lbs in it. But I kept getting notices from my USPS tracking that the package was still coming, and Monday, there was another 20 lb box. So 30 lbs for the food kitchens - figured out how to store the open 10lb bag and we made up some tonight - not bad, actually.
Pasta finally arrived. 40lbs (PB website said 20, so you can’t trust their tracking information).
I’m very happy. I had dreaded the 10lb drop but got the marvelous 40lb drop instead… Woo hoo! Pasta for dinner tonight.
Oh and the packaging was fantastic. Boxes inside boxes and bags and air inside those. These were well packaged to survive the onslaught and rough handling of Pitney Bowes.
Bravo meh team. Bravo.
/ Moral of the story… The weight PB tracking says isn’t necessarily accurate.
3 weeks to get 10lbs of spaghettini for $20 That won’t last a hungry Firefighter long. At least with an IRK I expect to be disappointed. Never received any “store credit” via email either…
@KNmeh7 Thank-you! I had checked spam and it wasn’t there either…I think there is a disconnect regarding the PastaDrop page in general. I’ve been a member of Meh (and affiliates) for ages and never received a single email about my order…unless gmail hates them for some reason. LOL
Oh, oops! I forgot to chime in with my pasta report. I got 20 lbs. That’s about what I would have gotten for $20 at the store, so I guess it’s a fair deal. I admit I was hoping for a little more, because I always cook extra for my chickens, so it goes kind of fast. Yes, for my chickens. They livin’ their best life.
@andrd You realize who we’re ordering from, right? It’s probably going to be 7 lbs of candy corn, a bluetooth nosehair clipper, and <REDACTED> of pasta!
@Star2236 we can’t tell you, other than to say that sadly you are not eligible for the deal, and that we’ve had to spend a lot of extra money on Meh that you’ve saved!
@snapster@Star2236 I can agree. The code did not work for me so I did not proceed.
Besides, I’m not a spaghettini fan, so I didn’t want to foist a random quantity of those noods on anyone.
@snapster@Star2236 I never get any VMP emails even though I am kickstarter and VMP. I don’t know why. I always get the guess what we are selling emails.
Anyone you send this to that isn’t you will obviously be a “new” ship to address. e.g. my local foodbank.
That also means you MUST uncheck the pre-checked “Billing address is the same as shipping address” checkbox.
Since the billing address is always going to be different than the ship to, you have to enter in your billing address every time you “send noods”.
You can’t switch from your browser to another app on your phone (like your contacts app) to look up your intended co-victim’s shipping address without coming back to a completely empty form to fill out all the information again.
My pre-saved payment cards could not be selected. I still had to enter the card number despite using the radio buttons to pick one. None worked.
And heaven help you if you copy your shipping address from another app (your address book or from the website of the recipient) and can’t paste it into any field because the form truncates it (the most important part - the zip code which has to be enetered separately)
The “It’s not your fault, some random error with our website has occurred, guess again” game is not fun. Just knock that shit off, K? Give me something actionable.
The coupon-that-shall-not-be-named was accepted, but did not work. It did not change the prices, and worse it didn’t tell me why it didn’t work (invalid or already used).
Show some pride. Test Yo Shit.
Don’t abuse the customer.
Get it together and think this through when you’re not high.
@mike808 You obviously can send it to yourself. The poll has a significant number of people who admitted to it. So go ahead and cross the first few off this list.
And quite frankly I would be shocked if your local food bank would prefer a random box of pasta to a twenty dollar donation.
And you had to type in your address? Let me find my tiny violin.
@mike808 Well said. Actually totally agree with you on choice E) ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Especially the appendix to 8.
“It’s an experiment” – what’s our status, guinea pigs or just lab rats?
You’d think that after twenty plus years of commerce on the internet, UX would be no problem. (But I still hate search functions on major sites – try looking up “replacement vacuum cleaner cord” on Lowe’s or HD, and see what they try to sell you. Walmart did OK on that, but they are usually one of the worst.)
I think you just coined a new initialism, TUX. (At least I hadn’t encountered it yet.)
@sammydog01 I don’t want to send it to myself. That’s the point. I want PastaDrop to ship to the recipient, not ship it to me and then I have to ship it again, at my own cost, to the victim lucky recipient of my charitable largess.
As for filling in my own info for billing, Mercatalyst already has this on file, and it means I have to do it every damned PastaDrop. Not gonna be a repeat customer after that kind of abuse, that you think is justified. Wow.
Fuck I just need to buy this and I’m running into glitch city. Gonna try this…
Dear future Casey, remember when you said you would stop impulse spending…and now you have a giant box of fucking pasta. Dude, never change.
/giphy legitimate-merry-meat
I sent it to my daughter, yes she lives in my house. But she’s already planning on a pasta drop to a coworker friend. So she will use the code. I may have to send some to my other adult kids that haven’t heard of it, just to confuse them.
4 days until the next one? I need this for my roommate. She drunk cooks pasta often and boils it all over my stove leaving me a disaster to clean up the next morning. she moves Out later this month and I want her to have a good supply of pasta to mess up her own stove with! How quickly will this ship? She’s getting married and this is going to be an awesome add on wedding gift. But only if it gets here before she leaves since she’s moving a few hours away
@jenludwig always check the specs at the top of the page. That’s where it has estimated shipping for current offerings.
You might want to get her new address for the next one.
Mine is at the local post office for delivery tomorrow. I am off today or I would have eyes on it. Also to b delivered tomorrow an unknown box from Carrolton shipped the same day. I have a couple orders in processing but not sure which it is. I think someone forgot to send the shipping notices out.
@speediedelivery Ahh interesting, yeah I see in USPS Informed Delivery that this one was shipped on 05/20 and USPS is waiting for the item “Picked Up by Shipping Partner, USPS Awaiting Item
CARROLLTON,TX 75010”.
Finally got a tracking number. Only one number. Excited to see what shows up. The kids are very invested in this now. Pasta is their favorite thing ever.
Meh, I ordered one and got 1x 10lb of Spaghettini. Is the quantity random? I wouldn’t mind playing the pasta lottery again, but otherwise pretty lousy deal.
@aswood yeah I got one too (my husband sent it to me). I sent one of each to my son. I also ordered the fettucini for my mom too so if they only get 10 lbs each of all three, I think I’ll have to bow out of this in the future. $80 for about $25 worth of pasta is not such a great deal.
I was given one tracking number, which I used to set up automatic notifications with USPS. Got notified by USPS, PastaDrop, and my UPS store that the delivery had been made.
Not the end of the story. UPS store let me know that I had received two packages, and they let me know the tracking numbers of both as per usual. Hmm, did I get one of my Kickstarter spiffs without notification? I threw the unknown tracking number into USPS, and guess what? Same tracking info as the known PastaDrop shipment.
Very mysterious. I’ll be swinging by today to see what I got, but given this is USPS, they can’t be too heavy.
@JOATMON I’ve had amazon ship a 96 roll case of toilet paper through USPS… and it was in an oversized box. Postman got an energy drink from me that day.
@hisgrossness Two boxes, each containing two smaller boxes. Packing slips in both large boxes confirmed it was from the same single order (I had a thought driving over that someone may have gifted a PastaDrop to us, but no). Each smaller box is about 10 pounds, making a total of 40 pounds.
I wanted to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank of Silicon Valley, so drove over there. Turns out they are not accepting walk-in donations. So, I need to find an alternative donee.
I’m actually amused at how this worked out. Interesting concept, glad to participate.
My recipient got hers. It was 20 lbs. She had gotten an email from her son’s school saying his teacher was sending everyone something. She thought this was it and was going to send the teacher a thank you email with a picture of it! I cleared things up.
Still haven’t received mine, but tracking has updated it to 10#. Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers, but curious the marketing decisions behind 10-100# versus say, 20-40#. This isn’t an IRK.
My drop arrived today. Box crushed and opened, containing 10lbs of pasta in a bag with cuts and holes all over it with pasta falling out of the bag inside of the box.
@Raider perhaps ‘straight in the trash’ is a bit extreme… in order to cook it you’re going to kill any creepy-crawlies that may have found its way on to your skinnysketti. perhaps buying 5 cans of cheap-ass sauce and delivering to a “church under the bridge” type thing in your town. those holes in that bag won’t mean a thing to them.
I received my 10lb bulk bag of spaghettini today. Box was crushed and plastic bag containing pasta cut open in numerous places. What a complete waste of food to ship so carelessly so it’s been exposed to who knows what during shipping and now must be thrown out.
Ok, color me confused but pleased. I posted yesterday I got my drop and received 20 lbs, but today another box came and now I have another 2 packages, for a total of 40lbs. The box says on it “PASTADROP 2” on the top, the first box having nothing on it. I just kinda assumed when I opened it that it was the Penne from the second drop. A surprise for sure, and I’m happy to have it, but I wager the poor postman isn’t.
@Tiamat114 Same thing happened to me! I placed one order and got 20 lbs on Monday and was like “Whoa! This is a lot of pasta!”. And then today, I got ANOTHER 20 lbs! Wtf am I going to do with 40 lbs of pasta?!
I’m curious if other people actually had the pasta drop? The box was super beat up, I should have figured the contents might be damaged. I had sent it to my self. I went to pull the bag out and all 10 pounds of pasta ended up on my bare foot. Hurt like hell and now I can’t eat any of it! So did your pasta get delivered or dropped on your foot because the bag was ripped wide open in shipment?
@ccasey3655 My box was pretty beat up, but since they cheaped out and only gave me 10#, I think it was insulated from the abuse with the Texas air packs.
I guess I should be thankful my bag arrived intact.
Well, I shelled out $20 for #10 pounds of pasta/spaghettini. I knew the amount was not set in concrete, but still feel a bit ripped off, TBH. I have a family of 6 disabled adults. I could have gotten this at the store for this price! Sigh.
@hgilchri I dropped a food bank a couple weeks ago… will be curious if that amount is “random” or maybe a “weighted random”. Good luck to you and I admire you taking on that responsibility!
@snapster The facility would need an inspection by a rabbinical organization in order for it to be certified Kosher. Most pasta is Kosher, but not all Kosher food is Certified Kosher.
@Zelucifer thanks right; not expecting certified facility was in play here (while ingredients aren’t necessarily disqualifying.) This is higher end imported Italian pasta used in restaurants but not seeing commentary useful to @mossygreen
@mossygreen@snapster@Zelucifer if this turns out to be even a modest amount of something like rustichella d’abruzzo durum wheat pasta i’m going to be a very happy man.
i mean, i’ll also be happy if it’s an insane amount of regular pasta.
@mossygreen@snapster@Zelucifer@zippyus@unclespammy
Hey there! I did actually find some more out about this (finally, sorry for the wait!) - It looks like SOME of them are but not all. They’re all the same brand, so I’m not 100% why some are and some arn’t, BUT: Apparently both the Spaghettini and Linguini do have the ‘KF’ logo on them!
@vinuash They’re just going to drop a big pot of cooked pasta into a trash bag and stuff it in a box. It should be green by the time it arrives in the mail.
I’LL BE LOOKING FOR THE “SWEETENERS” E-MAIL --Because I’m going to be Meh’s #1 Nudge if I don’t see it.
BTW, FIVE (5) sites? 'k, what am I missing?
1-Meh; 2-Mediocritee (still mehhy); 3-Morningsave (thumbs up for the extra VMP 10% off if the item isn’t the morning mehhy deal on that site; and now 4-pastadrop. What am I missing? Woot was bought by some other mehhy-type people, yes, no?
FROM the Pastadrop FAQ’s:
"Got anything else to sweeten the pot?
Sure, since we just launched we’ll throw in $50 total store credit for our other sites. After you PastaDrop you’ll get an email with $10 off each of our five other sites. You can use these codes once on each site to…save $10.
Oh, and the PastaDrop recipient will also get a code they can use to PastaDrop someone else. Pasta it forward, if you will. (Or even if you won’t.)
@evgrosen - oopsie - Six (6) sites total? They really want our entire C-19 allowance, don’t they? (Not happening, lol… still “gifting” T.P., sanitizer, and paper towels to friends in need. ugh.)
@eric1024@evgrosen are morningsave and sidedeal really the same site though? I mean, I don’t mind a coupon for both, but they both sell the exact same things for the exact same price. It’s essentially one site with two urls.
@eric1024 - Thanks! I forgot about casemates (wine - whoo hoo! Uh oh… )!
Sidedeal - I know nothing. But looks like we’re getting out of C19 lockdown pretty slowly… it’s for our own good, I suppose. sigh.
@eric1024@OnionSoup - it’s a Meh-ist conspiracy - they’re trying to get our “meh” money anyway they can. The name “sidedeal” sounds a little slimey to me - do they offer disinfecting wipes? Because, man, those are still really hard to get – unless you don’t mind getting reamed. (I did find some on Boxed for a reasonable price - limit 2, and man, they went FAST.)
Mystery amount of pasta purchased and sent to wife.
I hope this doesn’t make me look dumb.
Err dumber…
Nevermind, it’s definitely going to make me look dumber.
the coupons make it worth the first try, and I my friend can always pass them along to the food bank or somewhere. It’s a good start to the stash for when the virus flares again from all the idiots having beach parties …
/giphy grimy-sleek-crime
@Brasssong mine is still processing and has not shipped. I have yet to actually receive anything that i have ordered from any of the mediocre labs sites. My first purchase was May 1st and then a few other orders prior to the pasta drop. I do not expect to receive the pasta until 2nd week of June. All of my expected delivery windows from orevious purchases have passed and still waiting. I ordered the penne this week to deliver to my sister. I figure i may forget about it in 5 weeks and we’ll both have a laugh
@Brasssong@tjg5181 that’s kinda the deal with the mediocre brands. They’re cheap but get delivered by a team of snails. It’s the same thing way back in the day when they used to be woot
If the shipping process from my MorningSave order is any indication of how this works, it’s been 11 days since that order shipped and I have NO idea where it is now. My first box of pasta shipped 5 days after that one and has been in Texas for the past week.
@melwin maybe they’re cooking it for you. Served with a nice fresh pesto, delivered by an out of work waitress from the Cheesecake Factory…ooohhh, cheeeeesecake…mmmmm…
/image NY cheesecake
Aaaawww! Now I have to order some cheesecake…dang it!
Ah crap! I am developing a really bad sore throat. Hope this isn’t corona virus and if it, I hope I don’t die… But if I do, the bloody pasta better get here first.
I don’t want the last thing my wife ever gets from me after my death to be dry bulk pasta. Thats not how I want to be remembered.
@RiotDemon honestly, think it’s more likely I have a mild case of flu. Sore throat, aching body and headache can all be Coronavirus symptoms but are very common flu symptoms.
Not terrible yet (I probably wouldn’t be online laughing at the shipping if it were). Hopefully it will stay fairly mild. Sore throat is pretty horrible though .
Not sure how I got flu (or coronavirus) social distancing.
@OnionSoup Hope you feel better! If it’s available in your area you should get tested regardless if you think it’s serious or not. It helps with your treatment (tamiflu for flu) and the statistics in your area. Most people just need to place a call to their PCP or local 3-1-1 to get a drive-up appointment
@MrMikenIkes thank you, yes, I’m of two minds on getting tested. On one hand, it does help gather statistics (although I know it’s in my area- my zip has the highest prevalence of it in the state, or did at one time at least).
On the otherhand, I’m fairly mild (honestly it’s just the throat that’s obnoxious to me) so don’t really require treatment for whatever I have and going to get tested means potentially exposing someone else. (and also potentially getting exposed to it myself if I actually only have strep or flu; both of which are probably more likely given my symptoms).
@OnionSoup if it helps put your mind at ease, most of the testing that’s being done at least in my area is done at drive through sites where you pull up in your car into a tent and in that tent you roll your window down and they test you right there.
The testers are in PPE anyway and I’ve been tested twice as part of my job (no symptoms just an essential worker) and from what I can tell you these people are very good about infection control.
That’s at least what we have been doing here in MA, I obviously can’t speak for other parts of the country where you may be putting the testers at risk.
Either way I hope you feel better soon so you can start shoveling some NOODS into that throat instead of cough drops haha
@tightwad it’s not invasive at all and takes about 30 seconds - 2 minutes depending on the test they do.
What usually happens is they schedule you to go to a drive up center, you roll your window down and give them your info. At this point they may take your vitals (BP, Pulse, Temp) but in my experience they didn’t do this. Then you’ll drive further up in the tent, and depending on the test center they’ll either swab the back of your throat or a nasal swab and then you drive off and they call you with the results.
The throat swab feels like you are being tickled at the back of your throat. The nasal swab is the one that people complain about and I will say it is uncomfortable. They stick a swab deep in your nostril and rotate it. They may do the second nostril as well. It doesn’t hurt, just feels very strange but the second time I had it done it did make me tear up. After a few seconds I was fine though and I just drove home.
It sounds like if you ship it to yourself, you get 10 pounds of pasta.
Ship to someone else and it could be 100.
I had it shipped to myself because I have no friends. Stingy people (like myself) who send gifts to themselves generally don’t have friends so it’s no surprise.
@binkybear I hope not - and not sure if that’s true. On the first one, I didn’t even think about changing, everything had been pre-filled and so I sent to myself thinking I’ll just strip the label and drop the box somewhere. Then when the web site had additional problems putting other addresses in, I just decided to send to myself and I’ll drop off elsewhere.
Three drops and still no pasta here.
Also, in my magical imagination I had imagined that meh had setup a pasta producing setup at their warehouse and they were making the pasta themselved.
Where’s my pasta??? Shipping label created May 20. Hopefully I’m not going to be one of those that receives the broken bags and dust because it appears I’m last on the list.
@trailtroll don’t fret. it will get to you… but@OnionSoup is probably correct that it will more resemble orzo. these were packaged for food service and were never meant to be tossed around as individual boxes from one truck to another.
according to Pitney Bowes my shipment, although entered into the system on the 20th, wasn’t picked up until the 26th in Carrollton, TX… On the 28th it says that it was passed off to the USPS in Waco, Tx., 113 miles south. USPS tracking says it’s still waiting for it.
I know it doesn’t work this way, but I’ve begged meh since day zero to simply leave texas bound shipments on the front counter for the postal carrier. two day delivery is usually nicer than two week delivery.
@andrewkotz THAT was the info I needed. 20lbs to my sister! 100 would have been funnier but $20 plus the coupons totally made it worth it. I can’t wait to see what she says tomorrow
@lichme Thanks for the link. All the ones I tried with google didn’t give me anything. This shows that tomorrow my daughter will be getting a 22lb 10oz box. Can’t wait for the penne to ship so I can see what my son will be getting. Daughter knows about it, son does not.
Thank you… 20lbs. I’m content with that as that is what I initially expected before items started arriving at peoples houses
I would have been majorly annoyed at 10lbs and excited anything above 20… But 20 is reasonable. A little more than grocery store but funny and some profits going to good cause.
Now hopefully it arrives in one piece…
Well… At least each individual Spaghettino arrive in one piece. I don’t want all 20lbs of spaghettini to merge into one giant Spaghettino. That would be disturbing and take forever to cook.
Got my drop today. Two 10# bags o’ pasta. So, about the same as I pay in the store $1/lb. But hey it was fun and I won’t need to buy pasta at the store for awhile.
@Thunderbums did you actually spend the $20 or were you one of the people who may or may not have used a possible super-secret coupon that may or may not have existed that made the order a no-cost-to-you item?
I am totally caught by surprise. I knew that Morning Save had an over abundance of pasta, but I never knew that someone would send my 20 pounds of it! Never heard about this nefarious bunch until just a short while ago my poor husband came in, out of breath, toting a Pastadrop box. (We’re old people.)
Now I want to get in on the action. Where can I buy a Pasta Bomb? I know several people who deserve a drop.
@stolicat@Teripie wasn’t there a free month shipping membership for new users listed on Slickdeals recently too for mercatalyst group websites? Is that still active.
10 pounds, box totally mangled, bag ripped open. Fortunately my recipient is pretty understanding. I think shipping these 10lb bags in a box big enough to hold twice that much is just asking for it to bounce around like a football player’s brain inside his skull until all are ruined.
I might be willing to give this one more shot (with a much less dense variety of pasta, and shipping to myself rather than to anyone I respect). But between that and the abysmal shipping I think I’d consider this experiment a failure.
Anyone with an actual order number? I’m trying to give you money in exchange for an unspecified quantity of pasta with unspecified quality… Can you hurry up and fix it?
I’m excited my order just went through! Something is wrong with me that I can’t wait to get an unspecified amount of an unknown type of pasta in an unknown amount of time. Can’t be any worse than the last 8 weeks of quarantine purchasing.
Got two errors when I tried to order (using the VMP code that got emailed out), but also received two order confirmations - both for $0. The email specifically stated only one coupon per account, so I canceled one of them. Hope the other goes through, if only to see how much pasta I actually am going to receive.
Definitely some bugs in the ordering system, but I’m sure it will get worked out eventually…
So the gimmick here is to pay $20 to send a random amount of dried pasta, delivered in almost a month, to other people? Or to yourself? Bulk pasta is pretty easy to find and super cheap, even now. Delivered or picked up.
All the other meh spin-offs at least have some point, even if some are redundant. I guess I don’t get the point of this one. Is the fun in not knowing if you’re getting a good deal or not? Or in not knowing if you’re just wasting food others could use because you’ll have way too much pasta? Or were you trying for a far less interesting “bag of dicks” concept? Maybe a it’s like a lottery where the only prize is random amounts of pasta?
It’s not even random types of pasta or unusual/specialty pastas. So basically it’s a BoC (a BoP, if you’d like) of one of the most boring things around where the only unknown is the amount?
I’d be curious what the business discussion that lead to this site was. I can only assume some thought of a cute domain name and things just sort of escalated. Now THAT I get it. I’ve been there.
Can anyone confirm whether the code’s used have all been redeemed? Not getting error but doesn’t seem to be doing anything. Order doesn’t seem to be going through either, not sure if it’s due to the applied code or if it’s just the bottleneck issues that @snapster mentioned
@wilstev I ordered what I thought was a promo batch. Order went through, after saying it didn’t, and with no promo. I’m gonna not touch it until we hear about the issue status.
@snapster For what it’s worth, I am now showing an order receipt timestamped 11:38 ET for a total of $0. waterproof-lowly-maple if you would like to do any internal testing (or if you even can). Never actually saw a confirmation screen, started to get the error message saying “these are selling fast. please wait a while” or similar. Closed window, waited and reopened to try again, and repeated cycle when I would get the wait a while message. I’ll stop trying now that I received the potential order confirmation.
@dzieciom@wilstev Similar issue on my side, it said that my order wasn’t going through, but I have a confirmation email with a charge of $0. Also got the added benefit of my bank sending an email about possible fraudulent charges for $0.00. Either way, I think my boss will enjoy some pasta.
@snapster So if the order went through, when it said it didn’t, and shows a charge, even though the coupon was used, it probably didn’t apply, and it’s safe to cancel the order? I don’t want to spam the servers if the thing is applied
@lichme@snapster So, I had trouble getting my orders to go through, I thought. It turns out that four actually went through. AND three of the four, I used the coupon code. Since i wasn’t getting through, I had ordered one without the code.
Anyway, three of my emails said $0 amount paid and one was for $20. I cancelled two freebies and the $20 purchase. I now have one freebie order left on my account and I am happy as a clam.
@lichme@snapster Left for a bit, came back and clicked “Let’s try that again” on the page where I entered the coupon code and tried to buy it a billion times, and this time it went through. However, order confirmation and my credit card show a charge for $20, so assuming the coupon being applied successfully doesn’t necessarily mean it worked. It just didn’t show any error message applying it.
Well after many tries earlier saying code unknown, I gave it another try a bit ago (fully assuming all used hence the error) and much to my surprise it accepted the code and e-mail received confirming code worked. Thanks for the drop, will be fun to see what arrives!
@TenaciousT Yeah-- Just got a confirmation email myself after a dozen or so supposedly ‘failed’ attempts. Lets see how many orders were actually placed
/giphy fat-average-ocean
@caffeineguy We can just cancel any extras in the orders section, I got a second confirmation but the “my orders” still only has the first one. Good sign.
Meh and I have reached the point in our relationship where asking for noods doesn’t lead to anything. But that’s ok, because no one can ever take away our 7 lbs of candy corn!
I kept getting a “Try Again Later” message every time I tried to order. I tried about 50 times and gave up. Just now got an email confirming my order. I sure hope I don’t get another 49 confirmations! No one needs that much pasta… Or do they?!
Just got a confirmation email for an unspecified order, clicked at an unspecified time, for an unspecified amount of pasta to be delivered at an unspecified time!
@Kidsandliz I never got any free bath cases but spent my own money to buy the big batch, and I love them still! (Except for that one kindle case that I despise - it knows what it did!!!)
@snapster , I’ve followed you everywhere else, why stop here? This one really feels like the last frontier of weird BUT I appreciate the effort to be different AND I will come along for the ride.
I can buy spaghetti for 49 cents a pound at my local store when it goes on sale… usually once a month. I’d pay more for specialty shapes, but spagetts? No.
Bring on the unicorn shapes!
It appears they may be attempting to ship based on shipping time to get everyone to receive at the same time. They have tried this before and it failed, but hey, why not try again.
@jaybird
never figured out if McAfee is the stupidest ever or too smart for our good. Used to delete parts of commercially bought games. So switched to Norton, a bit later it did the same thing (or was it vice versa)
Used Avast since someone I know who worked IS for Amacrap EU told me it is the only thing he’d use on his machines at home. Dunno if it is still true, lost connection over the years
@Cerridwyn funny thing is I didn’t even know it was on my phone. I don’t know if it’s automatically installed with Verizon or Comcast. Or if it’s built into chrome browser.
Edit… Or maybe McAfee knows that by visiting this site a person may unwillingly become part of an experiment and which too much pasta arrives at someone’s house.
meanwhile, in a city only 113 miles from Carrolton, TX… we wait… and wait… and wait. the one thing i can rely on when it comes to a mediocre company is the crawly-snail speeds of the shipping.
i once bought a poster from a poster place in Austin that went through my town three times between shipping companies before being delivered.
Pasted the tracking number into the pitney bowes shipment tracker and determined my friend will be receiving a 22 lb package, which I assume is 2 10-lb bags of spagettini.
Shipping on mine says “Label Created. USPS Awaiting Item” Anyone else? Estimated delivery was between May 26th and June 1st, but apparently mine hasn’t even shipped yet?
@jennisashark The estimated delivery was changed to June 22-June 25 although a lot of people are already receiving theirs. The covid virus is causing havoc with shipping.
@Barney@jennisashark nah… the far end of my expected delivery date is still June 1. this ain’t a covid thing, this is purely on Pitney Bowes being a horrible, terrible, no good company. I feel bad that The Labs went with them. BAAAAAD decision.
@Noddy93 Okay, so it’s Pitney Bowes fault, but if you scroll up to the beginning of this thread, you will see that the dates have been changed. Believe it or don’t, I don’t care.
I do know that it will get to you sometime. And if it doesn’t, Customer Service will issue a refund.
@jennisashark June 12th. Shipment has arrived at the USPS facility twice now according to shipping. But still, no estimated delivery date. It’s the 15th. I ordered this a month ago. I’m beginning to lose hope.
Supposedly my package was given to my local USPS very early morning the first. USPS tracking says it is still in Indiana. I have to say the suspense is getting ridiculous
My order only has 1 tracking number, which Pitney Bowes says is 22 lbs. Informed Delivery from the USPS tells me there is a second tracking number with another 22 lbs… But one is coming on Thursday and the other is still in PB purgatory.
Everyone enjoying their first drop and mine still stuck in PB Texas lockup. Has been there since 5/26 and hasn’t departed Grapecine yet. Then it will take another 2 weeks to travel to east coast. Booo. My sister may get week 4 before my wife gets week 1
@tjg5181 I got our shipment of spaghetti two weeks ago. We got the penne today. But the order I placed for my son a month ago is still in transit. It’s been “picked up and processing by agent” in his city since 5/29. Weird
I got my surprise 40 lbs of pasta in today… Tracking number said 20 lbs, but there was a hidden second box. I posted the extra 30 lbs on Facebook and had three friends claim it in under a minute.
Hmmm… I’m not sure if this is just the post office being dumb or if they’re trying to figure out how to deliver 100# of pasta to a rural address. “Delivery Exception” is the “Please Wait…” of delivery messages.
My brother’s spaghettini is finally moving again. It sat at Atlanta since the 27th. On the 3rd it was processed and then in transit. On the 5th it arrived at Atlanta again, lol. Says he should receive it on the 10th.
My linguine says it’s supposed to be delivered on the 10th too.
1st and 3rd drops delivering at the same time, go figure.
We got ours a week ago, two 20lb boxes over two days. Gave one to the neighbor, kept one. Went today to find some place to store our second bag and found it was torn open (and spilled about 1/2 out when I lifted it out of it’s little sub-box). Had neighbor check theirs and one of them was also ripped open. Contacted CS and we’ll see what happens.
Has anyone gotten a CS response yet? Are they replacing or refunding? Replacement would be fine by me …
I’m sad. The spaghettini I shipped has been lost. I’ve been refunded. I was really looking forward to talking with my brother after it shows up. Now I’ll just have to bring him some of my pasta in person whenever I can see him.
But how much pasta are you actually sending? It doesn’t say.
/giphy YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH

Yeah, this. You could at least list how much is being sent. Someone really dropped the meatball here.
It’s like they’re just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks
@cinoclav Wait they are sending meatballs too? That’s incredible!
@patti According to the pic at the top, it’s never ending pasta
@patti Read ze FAQ.

@chuegen i was thinking that once the site launched it would cease to be as “mysterious and unpredictable.” not gonna spend thirty dollars on an unknown amount, personally.
@patti $20 worth. Inflated or Deflated value depending on what you get.
@patti I distinctly saw (or heard?) the word “bulk”. Just to be safe, I’m trying it out on a friend I know could use 24 boxes of spaghettini.
Ah yes, the spaghettini!
@chuegen Thank you. It’s helpful but you know.
@chuegen @patti I did, but do not see where it gives a amount. Can you point me to where it answers that question on the FAQz? TIA
@mehbee @patti
"How much is ‘a bunch of pasta’?
To be determined.
Do you even know how much pasta you’re sending to people?
Right now, it’s mysterious and unpredictable."
HEY, NOW YOU HAVE A REASON TO TALK TO YOUR FRIEND
@lichme @patti They’re shipping us an Olive Garden?!
@chuegen @patti Exactly
@patti just a guess, but I would think it would be like their pasta deals on sidedeal -
This is insane. WTF?! Who buys an unknown amount of pasta for $20?!
In for one…
How much pasta you ask?
Some of you are forgetting we like experiments
OUR PASTA-AS-A-SERVICE API DOES NOT SUPPORT AMOUNT YET
@snapster We are not your guinea pigs! Is this soylent green pasta?!?!?
@snapster This is like the IRK of spaghetti isn’t it? Terrifying.
I’m pretty sure that’s not a real pasta.
@snapster I feel like a Mediocre lab rat. “Hey, let’s offer some dubious thing and see if people will buy it!”
@snapster I read the FAQ and just smiled.

@snapster Ready for an in-coming pasta pallet!
@snapster Why do people keep asking this question? There’s obviously $20 worth of pasta in the box
@ELUNO @snapster This pasta is people?!
@ELUNO @snapster @Stumpy91 Soylent pasta?
@snapster I have received so much from fukus and irks that I will always take the gamble with these folks
@mediocrebot It should be more like… Pasta-As-Service-Terrific-API.
My friend got the drop they were sent, and then streamed themselves making this on twitch.
@vinuash also just to clarify, the other side is a larger opening for their cat to go in!
@vinuash aww, how cute!
@vinuash they deserve an extra 100lbs of pasta for that.
@vinuash
seriously awesome
@staff
KRULL! A SKULL! BRETT HULL! AWESOME!
@Cerridwyn unfortunately tagging @staff doesn’t actually tag anyone at mercatalyst. You would have to do individual usernames.
It does tag someone that chose the name staff though.
If I send this to drunk me does it count as a surprise?
@Kaieta absolutely, but even more so if you get it when you’re drunk too
@halfling @Kaieta he said he was sending it to drunk him. Which means he’s either perpetually drunk or will watch and get drunk on the day it’s said to arrive. Maybe he meant to say from drunk him which is much easier to accomplish and makes a ton more sense.
@bradsour @halfling It’s more of a werewolf thing, as soon as I clock out I’m drunk
@Kaieta
@Kaieta No, only if drunk you sends it to sober you.
@Kaieta you have to guarantee you stay drunk until it arrives or you might accidentally send it to sober you.
@Kaieta only if you send it through time and space Interstellar style
/giphy interstellar

@halfling @Kaieta and fortunately, unlike Casemates, they will not automatically refuse to deliver if you are drunk!

@curtise @halfling @Kaieta yeah, lately UPS just leaves the wine with my 12 yo son…
I STILL DON’T UNDERSTAND ANY OF THIS!!! In for one.
@shubydoo in for four, all going to different people.
@OnionSoup @tightwad I only had 1 tracking number and I got 40 pounds. I still have another order coming, too.
@tightwad
Yeah, like buying your wife an appliance for Christmas, it’s a no no.
Noods received by a gobsmacked friend - 5 20 lb boxes of noods - 100 lbs total
@Deuce0222 haha… amazing. Did you have 5 tracking numbers on yours? Can we assume it’s 20lbs per tracking number I wonder?
Is the 20lb box broken up into smaller quantities inside or one box box full?
@Deuce0222 holy shit.
@Deuce0222
So awesome, I can’t wait till my penne ships all over the country at a turtle speed before being delivered to my mom. She’s gonna shit pasta for sure.
POPSOCKETS! SPROCKETS! DAVY CROCKETT! AWESOME!
Yeah, this is a little vague for me. No amount, no info on where it’s made. For all I know this could be Ronzoni.
@sandbarhappy you should be so lucky! your sainted mother cooked all day for you, now mangia!
@sandbarhappy @zippyus ronzoni is trash pasta though
So far, I received 2 shipments… Totalling 10x10lbs. So 100lbs of spaghetti!
@steigst
well damn!
@steigst two shipments of 100lbs?!?!?!? Better start running marathons and carboload
I’ve… I’ve been pastadropped. 20 random pounds of pasta. Randomly. I am a victim.
carb me, daddy
Hahahaha, send noods
@lichme

/giphy send noods
@lichme Yours will actually be a box of glitter and zip ties.
How much Spagho is in the drop?
@OnionSoup either more or less than $20 worth
It won’t let me Pasta Drop at all. It keeps coming up with the “Something went wrong on our end” message. Meh.com is taking a long time to load pages as well. Did Pasta Drop break the internet? Meh was so determined to try this experiment that no one bothered to ask if they should. The ramifications of their hubris could be devastating.
@Lister The pasta… it’s seems like it’s trying to sell us something. Can anyone here read ancient Sanskrit?
@Lister Same. I tried to order for a friend but after the order failed 5-6 times I gave up. It’s just not fun when the site fails.
I JUST GOT MORE SPAGHETTINI!
@Barney I’d be more worried how someone got your name and address.
Unless you’ve ever given it out on here, that’s kinda creepy… Lol. Although, maybe worth being stalked if you get pasta out of it.
@OnionSoup I’m not worried. I have a number of friends on Meh who have my address.
@Barney @OnionSoup
I blame @snapster
@moonhat didn’t wear a mask to the grocery store.
YIKES! 20 MORE POUNDS DELIVERED TODAY!
Nathan, my mailman, is happy. He’s now the proud owner of 10 lbs. of Spaghettini.
Took a number of attempts to get through. Order finally went through… and my credit card flagged it. “HEY, WHY WOULD YOU BE MAIL-ORDERING PASTA? THAT SEEMS WEIRD, PLEASE REVIEW THIS”
Developers are on a call sorting out various bottlenecks here at launch. Some orders are getting through and clearly others are not.
There really should be an option to select other members and drop pasta to them without actually knowing their address.
@TwoFiftyFare at least the goat
@DrWorm bought your mom that necklace you hated.
I feel like with my username I need to participate in this experiment, but I don’t know who to bless with too much pasta. Hmm.
Me 10 hours after first visiting the live site. “Send Noods”

@stiege I’m sure they’ll take care of you if you say something about your damaged pasta parcel.
@Bretterson meh…
@stiege It’s better than having a poor taste on your palate due to a pitiful pasta package.
@SSteve
if not, you might look for places that make meals for shut - in’s - meals on wheels type programs
@SSteve was this one tracking number or did they give you multiple?
@SSteve that’s a beautiful sight.
My 100 pounds of spaghettini arrived on Friday & Saturday.
Plain pasta sells for less than a $1/lb at discount retail [regular price]. So let’s see.
@datruandi But do you get the excitement of getting a box in the mail?
@sammydog01 curiosity killed the @DaTruAndi’s wallet.
@datruandi yeah… But I am guessing I will use at least two of the $10 gift codes. Might as well pull the trigger.
It’s vague, it’s twenty bucks, and who knows what I’m actually getting…but I’m intrigued, so what the heck…I’m in!
VMP code produces no error, but also no adjustment to cart. ???
@donrull

@donrull seems like may just be a lil slow - just checked and they said to try again in ~10-20 mins if it’s still not working for ya.
13 minutes. That’s how long it took for someone to not read the full email. Sigh.
@donrull so is there a VMP code available? Could you tell me what it is?
Forget COVID-19… People are going to be talking about the GREAT PASTA OUTAGE of 2020 for decades…
@aardWolf “Dad, why does Grandma hoard noodles?” WE MUST NEVER SPEAK OF IT
5 tracking numbers, eh?
@medz Same here. I’m a little nervous. But hopefully this will wind up a boon for my local food bank.
@medz @SSteve me too. My parents are going to kill me
/giphy hysterical laughter

@medz yep. had to double check that they hadn’t sent all my orders to my mom
@medz 5 tracking numbers?
hmmmm. Wonder if everyone gets the same amount. Mine no shippy yet.
They probably sent the shipments with the most out first to generate more buzz. I doubt you get 5 shipments of pasta every week.
@medz @SSteve @tinamarie1974 I just hope my wife doesn’t learn to turn the spaghettini and penne into some sort of weapon when she finds out who sent all this pasta to her.
Ah yes, the penne rigate!
@medz 5 tracking numbers here, as well… and I only ordered one. It’s going to be interesting to see if it’s (5) 20-lb boxes of spaghettini. Part of me hopes not, and part of me hopes so.
@medz @vandemusser I wonder if the larger orders are going out first or if it’s going to be like that for everyone.
Penne is one of my favorite noods.
@medz @vandemusser Same here… now I’m very curious.
@medz @vandemusser only one tracking number for me. I am not blessed by the Gods of pasta.
@medz @SSteve four of the five look like they will deliver tomorrow to my victims, I mean parents
Box number five was last scanned on 5/22 in TX, not sure where in the US it will show up.
@medz @SSteve @tinamarie1974 it’s almost better they don’t arrive the same day.
Getting 4 boxes one day thinking “holy poo, that’s a lot of pasta” then getting one the next day will make them paranoid of pasta trickling in non stop.
@medz @OnionSoup @vandemusser One tracking number would still work for a pallet of pasta. Surely it’s going to happen to somebody.
@medz @melwin @vandemusser they haven’t shipped a pallet of anything since the early woot days have they? That would be funny though… alas I believe those days are in the past.
@medz @OnionSoup @SSteve omg!! I did not think of that, too funny!! If it is 20 # boxes they are going to lose their mind
@medz @OnionSoup @SSteve @riotdemon @barney So I just got a FRANTIC call from my mom asking if I know anything about a pasta delivery.
@tinamarie1974 Wow! Are they threatening to divorce you?
@snapster
My wife wants to know how this is profitable.
@Barney @medz @OnionSoup @RiotDemon @snapster @SSteve just called me back. Still freaking out. Said the mail lady was baffled and wanted to know if they REALLY ORDERED THIS MUCH PASTA??? She wanted to know what they were gonna do with it!!!
@Barney no divorce. We are Sicilian, you just sleep with the fishes
@Barney @medz @OnionSoup @RiotDemon @snapster @SSteve Now that the shock and horror has worn off
@tinamarie1974 Sounds like you have a hit on your hands?
Hope you don’t get tired of spaghetti.

/image a mountain of spaghetti
@tinamarie1974 I like your mom!
@Barney I think you would like her IRL. She is very saucy…no pun intended!
@Kidsandliz I NEVER get tired of pasta, but pasta doesn’t like me! Or maybe it does because it hangs around on my belly and thighs, etc…
BTW if anyone is wondering it was really good
@Barney @medz @OnionSoup @RiotDemon @snapster @SSteve @tinamarie1974 so she asked to send to her brother. Didn’t this shipment come with coupon for free to ship to someone else?!
@raccoon81 I thought it was supposed to have a $5 off coupon that she could use.
Hrmm… FAQ said recipient will get a code to PastaDrop someone else. Guess I thought it meant to send a full drop.
@Barney @medz @OnionSoup @raccoon81 @RiotDemon @snapster @SSteve there was a $5.00 off coupon included but since I used my account it was not valid (1st time purchase only) no matter, I don’t think she cared either way. She just wants to “get” her brother.
I forsee Pasta Wars in the future!!
@tinamarie1974 If your mom is even only a fraction of your sauciness, I know I’d like her.
@Barney I am only a fraction of hers. I am tempered by my calm father.
/giphy saucy Sicilian

@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 and she still has one more box tonarrive, right?
Mine for my wife is still in Texas, seems to be held up there for a week. Once it finally leaves, if like other meh products it’s 7-10 days away. I still have a while until I witness the horror. (But mine is only one shipping label so presumably only 20lbs… Maybe I’ll hit jackpot with the Penne… Which would be better since she likes that more)
As an aside… Did you know a single stand of spaghetti is a spaghetto? Presumably a single strand of spaghettini is a spaghettino.
@Kidsandliz @OnionSoup @tinamarie1974 someone posted below that they got 10lbs, so I’m not holding my breath.
@Kidsandliz @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 ugh… I don’t mind getting less than other people and some people getting large amounts, but I’d feel very let down if I only got 10lbs. That’s expensive pasta.
Hoping for 20lbs. At that price it’s not the cheapest but still a reasonable price and don’t mind paying the little extra compared to what I’d do at grocery store because profits are partially going to a good cause.
@Kidsandliz @OnionSoup @RiotDemon I answered the phone today and after saying HELLO I hear, “you are really fruit. Do you think you are funny? You sent me ANOTHER pasta drop???” After laughing hysterically I explained it was the last box in her shipment … 100# in total. Lets just say she does not think it is as funny as I do

@OnionSoup @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974

/giphy POINT!
@OnionSoup @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 P.S. lets hope she thinks it is as funny as you do when your uncle gets his 100 pounds from her
@Kidsandliz @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 that’s awesome… And the funny thing is, she can’t plan on “getting you back” because there’s no guarantee of the 100lbs.
HIKING! VIKINGS! STRIKE KING [BRAND FISHING LURES]! AWESOME!
@Kidsandliz @OnionSoup @RiotDemon well and she is not very computer savvy, so I would have to order it for her. No chance of her getting me back
How did you see the weight for your order? I have never been so lucky
@Kidsandliz @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
https://pitneybowes.shipment.co/track/
They have several addresses that track. The one above has an order details button that if you click after first tracking your package it shows the weight.
@Kidsandliz @OnionSoup @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 Thanks for posting this… just found out my first 3 drops are all 20 pounds, including 1 each to the three F’s: Friend, Family, Food bank.
@Kidsandliz @lehigh @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
Maybe… Or maybe not… I’ve discovered since that link was posted that Pastadrop potentially sends you multiple boxes.
So all that tells you is that the first box is 20lbs. There could be more than one box.
I was expecting 20lbs because that is what I saw, but I ended up getting two boxes for a total of 40lbs.
/ Likewise my penne says 20lbs but could end up being more.
@melwin hope mine gets delivered with a cat too.
Got a 10lb bag. Given how often regular pasta is on a 10 for $10 sale at the local supermarket this is a really poor value.
Even worse being a single huge bag.
I’ve already ordered #2 and #3, but holding off on any more to see if those are also such poor value.
For a site focused on value offerings, this seems weirdly off the mark.
Looks like mine will only be 10lbs according to tracking. It’s fine for what I got it for, but I won’t be dropping $20 on a future drop when there’s a chance of only 10lbs while others are getting 100lbs. If there was a guarantee of at least 20lbs I would probably do this again.
@kyanostiger reflects on what the definition of a gamble is
@ecanada belittles feedback from others.
40lbs just arrived at my parents house - they are very confused - I’m very amused.
the single order i sent to my mom wound up being five pastadrop boxes of pasta.
she writes to tell me that she has enough to serve 900 people.
a++ good value, would drop again.
I’m down for this but I agree w/ others that more details somewhere on the page on the actual contents of the box would be great.
@smozi Read the FAQ.
@chuegen @smozi
which are equally vague…
@chienfou @smozi I think that’s the point? A few people have made the observation that pasta is already relatively inexpensive (<$1/lb.) at grocery stores. Who knows how long PastaDrop lasts? 6 months, until restaurants open back up and supply chains re-equalize? Maybe it morphs into an Italian restaurant supply center? Who knows… but it’s not your standard known-quantity deal, it’s more akin to the “grab bag” style loot boxes out there with a single product. Regardless, I’m in for 1.
@chuegen @smozi
Yeah, that was useful.
/giphy THE WHOLE POINT

It’s becoming harder to order pasta than an IRK
@MrMikenIkes
What do you mean becoming? It already is.
I just sent my boss NOODS.
It’s amazing how many people apparently do possess the ability to read but cannot read an entire email or keep a secret.
Also, unknown errors occurred when trying to drop pasta. Waiting to make sure I don’t start getting confirmation emails before trying again later. This is exciting!
/giphy drop it like it’s hot

@djslack “Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead.”
@demonbane @djslack oh I do like that show
No Meh button, what do I click to keep myself amused everyday?

THIS IS HOW MUCH PASTA YOU ARE GETTING!!!
We have the following points based on the location of the corners in the image.
29,272
29,988
342,182
343,1094
1217,252
1223,1004
We also have a few assumptions.
a) This is the box the pasta arrives in
b) The box is square rather than some weird shape because someone was drunk when they ordered the box.
c) the length of the spaghetti is ~10in or 250mm and this correlates to the length of the box.
Next we can assume that we have two orthogonal surfaces whose projection can be represented by the matrices
Uhhh… Look, it took linear algebra a while ago so maybye it is called a multidimensional array? but yea.
[ [(19, 29) (342, 343)] [(272,988) (182,1094)]
and
[ [(342, 343) (,)] [(182,1094) (,)]
Wait, what order am I putting theses in? Did I flip something? Crap, I don’t know.
**** it, lets just use trig and assume an isometric projection…
So, we can get the

HEY, NOW YOU HAVE A REASON TO TALK TO YOUR FRIEND
@Fen_Star Can we get a banana for scale?
/giphy math is hard

@Fen_Star @mike808 darn I was so excited to see how you worked out the formula lol
@Fen_Star @mike808 Enjoy your micro-spaghetti.

@Fen_Star using advanced trig I have determined we are getting 4.5X mm3 of pasta where X is an unknown number. But this should work out to be 2.3Y lbs of pasta where Y is also an unknown number.
The boxes remind me of something
@jmhsrv I think the two will have something in common.
Time for me to start Rawchickendrop.com
@kevinrs @OnionSoup I’d drop myself some raw chicken
MY PASTA DROPS ARE COMING TOMORROW!! No, I’m not excited, not at all. Can’t you tell?
@Barney how many boxes???
@tinamarie1974 I don’t know!
@Barney well, good luck!!
@Barney my sister’s arrives today or tomorrow. I’m so excited!! I’ve done a surprisingly good job at keeping my mouth shut so far. I never keep secrets

@chellemonkey She is going to be surprised!
@tinamarie1974 It looks like a total of 40 pounds. That’s two separate drops from medz and sammydog for Grace Cottage.
Poor sammydog, my drop to her doesn’t look too good. Damn!
@Barney i am sure the charity will appreciate it!!
How much did SD get? I am not seeing her post.
PastaDrop may be a poor name. The mail carriers think it’s instructions.
Sent this to my sister. She got 100lbs!
@Renee4183
and you are still alive?
she must adore you
@Cerridwyn - The funny thing is my house is devoid of all spaghetti now.

Has anyone actually ordered any? Maybe this is all one big April Fool’s trick that got delivered by SmartPost so we’re getting it now
@MrMikenIkes I ordered some.
@MrMikenIkes I also ordered some, but pulled the trigger at like 11:01am, probably before most people read their email and realized this was a thing
My sister once sent me a potato in the mail. This seems like the most natural rebuttal.
@shaunanl On the other hand…
https://shipabagofdicks.com/collections/all/products/eat-shit-chocolate-shit-in-a-box
Pasta Drop was so successful and they sold so much pasta they brought the entire shipping industry in the US to a standstill.
Got mine x2 10lb bags
The anticipation is killing me. Mine hasn’t shipped yet and now my brother’s girlfriend is going back to school. This means that it might get stolen from their front door. Florida wasn’t supposed to open until they got their pasta.
My first pasta drop arrived.
40 pounds of spaghettini. One tracking number.
It took me a while to realize that this was only one order. There’s more on the way.
Another order is dropping tomorrow. Oof. I hope it’s not 100 pounds of pasta.
Got mine today. One ten lb bag
@andreweller did you write in to support?
@RiotDemon i did after seeing your reply. I haven’t heard anything back yet.
@andreweller support is slow right now, so it’ll be a while for a reply.
@andreweller @RiotDemon seems that they’ve outsourced support to Pitney Bowes as well.
@andreweller @Noddy93 @RiotDemon actually I read on one website that they laid off a bunch of people to cut back on costs.
Mine has been sitting in town for the past week now…lots of delayed disappointment here…
I can’t read all of the earlier 700 posts, but I was tracking mine when a seemingly stealth box arrived Saturday (!!) afternoon from USPS with 20 lbs in it. But I kept getting notices from my USPS tracking that the package was still coming, and Monday, there was another 20 lb box. So 30 lbs for the food kitchens - figured out how to store the open 10lb bag and we made up some tonight - not bad, actually.

Woohoo!
@jimeezlady It probably went to your spam folder. The code is pastadrop for all the sites. It is tied to your account, so it isn’t a secret.
I haven’t received mine yet, but tracking indicates 10#. It sucks.
@KNmeh7 Thank-you! I had checked spam and it wasn’t there either…I think there is a disconnect regarding the PastaDrop page in general. I’ve been a member of Meh (and affiliates) for ages and never received a single email about my order…unless gmail hates them for some reason. LOL
Disapointed. 10 pounds of busted up pasta and a box broken open. A irk box is not this bad.
The folks I sent it to…crickets…hmm
I don’t get it. I was hoping for something different. Like maybe a kit of ingredients or special sauces or a desert thrown in.
@jmruru Pssst. Hey, kid, over here… I’ve got a great deal on the Mohave Desert – only 20 bucks. And it comes with a bunch of free pasta!
@aacero oops…lol
There’s 40 bowls in picture #2 so assuming these are large size bowls then that would mean there’s about 20lbs of pasta in the box.
I am half tempted to do this.
but I really don’t feel like dealing w/ my sister after Meh sends her a pallet of pasta.
@ekw

/giphy pallet
Snicker
@Cerridwyn @ekw I cannot confirm nor deny that this is actually plausible… :p
Would be interested if it said the amount received. Would be truly meh to spend $20 on some pasta and get a 16oz pack in the mail
@andrd You realize who we’re ordering from, right? It’s probably going to be 7 lbs of candy corn, a bluetooth nosehair clipper, and <REDACTED> of pasta!
This site isn’t working neither is sidereal. The spaghetti broke the internetzzzzz
How would you even cook that kind of pasta?
Where is anybody getting coupon code for today? I get daily emails and I never got a coupon code
@Star2236 we can’t tell you, other than to say that sadly you are not eligible for the deal, and that we’ve had to spend a lot of extra money on Meh that you’ve saved!

@Star2236 some charter members had a coupon code; turned out more trouble than it was worth
@snapster @Star2236 I can agree. The code did not work for me so I did not proceed.

Besides, I’m not a spaghettini fan, so I didn’t want to foist a random quantity of those noods on anyone.
Ah yes, the spaghettini!
@snapster @Star2236 'nuff said
@snapster @Star2236 I never get any VMP emails even though I am kickstarter and VMP. I don’t know why. I always get the guess what we are selling emails.

@patti @snapster @Star2236 you aren’t a VMP, you’re currently a Member.
Can’t emphasize enough how good of an idea “ramen drop” is.
@wickhameh Agreed!
Terrible user experience.
@DrWorm doesn’t celebrate Mother’s Day because they think it’s a Hallmark Holiday.
@mike808 @sammydog01 so you were happy with the experience and would recomment it to others?

@mike808 What garbage browser or OS are you using that all of those things you complained about are actually things?
@tinamarie1974 The announcement tanked the forum. What were people expecting?
@sammydog01 I would agree, day one of any endeavour is always touch and go
@sammydog01 I don’t want to send it to myself. That’s the point. I want PastaDrop to ship to the recipient, not ship it to me and then I have to ship it again, at my own cost, to the
victimlucky recipient of my charitable largess.As for filling in my own info for billing, Mercatalyst already has this on file, and it means I have to do it every damned PastaDrop. Not gonna be a repeat customer after that kind of abuse, that you think is justified. Wow.
@lowlypeon I’m interacting with the site on a Nokia 6.1 running Android 10 with the April 2020 security package, and using Chrome 81.
The problem isn’t the browser or the phone UI. It is the website and the craptastic UX.

I sent it to my daughter, yes she lives in my house. But she’s already planning on a pasta drop to a coworker friend. So she will use the code. I may have to send some to my other adult kids that haven’t heard of it, just to confuse them.
we will now attempt the cross post link via twitter embed single salchow… (quiet please)

NOODS dropped.

@mike808
how much?
@Cerridwyn No idea. Image sent to me by a recipient.
@JOATMON update?
Wow. I’m terribly underwhelmed. 10 pounds of off-brand pasta in a single bag for $20. What a rip-off.
@toddtmw Roma is not “off-brand”. If you’ve eaten at an “Italian” joint at least once in your life you’ve probably had it.
That it is Roma further supports my idea that this is food service overstock thanks to Rona 19 closing everything down for a couple of months.
$10 bucks though… yeah, a slight rip-off. But that’s the chance you take with a meh experiment.
@Noddy93 actually, $10 wouldn’t be bad. But it was $20.
Packed in a single giant bag. Less of a deal in that case.
“Tuesday, May 26th - Monday, June 1st”
LIES
My recipient got hers. It was 20 lbs. She had gotten an email from her son’s school saying his teacher was sending everyone something. She thought this was it and was going to send the teacher a thank you email with a picture of it!
I cleared things up.
Still haven’t received mine, but tracking has updated it to 10#. Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers, but curious the marketing decisions behind 10-100# versus say, 20-40#. This isn’t an IRK.
Lame Lame Lame
10 lbs of Roma dry spaghetti… Food service grade pasta. Yeah first and last drop for me. This really feels like a scam job.
My drop arrived today. Box crushed and opened, containing 10lbs of pasta in a bag with cuts and holes all over it with pasta falling out of the bag inside of the box.
That is going straight in the trash, opened box and damaged packaging not worth the risk. Color me very unimpressed!
@Raider That’s awful. You need to contact Customer Service.
@Raider Looks like someone really dropped your pasta. Yikes.
@Noddy93 Because I respect less fortunate individuals, I would never dream of giving them food I view as unsafe because it’s “good enough for them”.
I received my 10lb bulk bag of spaghettini today. Box was crushed and plastic bag containing pasta cut open in numerous places. What a complete waste of food to ship so carelessly so it’s been exposed to who knows what during shipping and now must be thrown out.
@donrull My pasta had a rough trip too and was torn open. I’m guessing the noodles were too sharp for that type of packaging.
@donrull @markgm Exactly the same experience for me!
@Tiamat114 It looks to me that your order gave you AT LEAST 40 pounds of pasta. Who knows, maybe you’ll get more?
@Tiamat114 Same thing happened to me! I placed one order and got 20 lbs on Monday and was like “Whoa! This is a lot of pasta!”. And then today, I got ANOTHER 20 lbs! Wtf am I going to do with 40 lbs of pasta?!
80# delivered… another 20# still yet to arrive. Came in 4 boxes in pretty good shape. No damage to bags inside… damn, this is a lot of pasta
@vandemusser
I got the dreaded 10# - all in one bag. Sorely disappointed.
@khiddy Same. PastaDrop has been a PastaFlop for me.
@khiddy @Rossome Me too.
@ccasey3655 ouch. Contact pastadrop.com/support if you haven’t already.
@RiotDemon I did. Hope to hear from them in 7 days.
@ccasey3655 My box was pretty beat up, but since they cheaped out and only gave me 10#, I think it was insulated from the abuse with the Texas air packs.
I guess I should be thankful my bag arrived intact.
@ccasey3655 @KNmeh7 i got 10 pounds of broken pasta and a busted box. Even an irk wasnt as much of a disapointment.
Well, I shelled out $20 for #10 pounds of pasta/spaghettini. I knew the amount was not set in concrete, but still feel a bit ripped off, TBH. I have a family of 6 disabled adults. I could have gotten this at the store for this price! Sigh.
@hgilchri My dropee got 20 pounds. Whisper me your mailing address and I’d be happy to Pdrop you on Monday
@lehigh Seriously, thank you for your kind thoughts. I’m touched. We are ok. I was just disappointed. I didn’t realize how random this truly was.
I Pdropped my friend who cooks hot meals for the homeless in her neighborhood, and I really hope she gets at least 20#. Fingers crossed.
@hgilchri I dropped a food bank a couple weeks ago… will be curious if that amount is “random” or maybe a “weighted random”. Good luck to you and I admire you taking on that responsibility!
When I click on the “The Spaghettini” link at the top of this page, I get an error. FIX IT.
I’ve been asked if this is certified kosher.
@mossygreen hmm, i’m not 100% sure but I did find this link: https://www.kosher.org.uk/article/all-pasta-kosher
no squid ink or anything like that in here, hope that helps!
@mossygreen from my understanding of the preparation needs, it is not
@snapster The facility would need an inspection by a rabbinical organization in order for it to be certified Kosher.
@mossygreen @snapster @Zelucifer if this turns out to be even a modest amount of something like rustichella d’abruzzo durum wheat pasta i’m going to be a very happy man.
i mean, i’ll also be happy if it’s an insane amount of regular pasta.
@mossygreen @snapster @Zelucifer @zippyus @unclespammy
Yeah, the description is super light… I’m hoping the box is super heavy. But HOW HEAVY?
@marcee $20 heavy
@marcee
/giphy what’s in the box

@marcee @zippyus
EXACTLY!
@marcee @zippyus The perfect gif. You win.
This… isn’t going to be already cooked pasta right
@vinuash no, BUT that would be pretty funny
@vinuash They’re just going to drop a big pot of cooked pasta into a trash bag and stuff it in a box. It should be green by the time it arrives in the mail.
I tried this a bunch of times and it won’t work so I give up. I’ll come back in a week or two.
Yeah, I think someone dropped the
pasta(meat)ball…My latest Irk came with pots and pans ready to cook this pasta but I can’t order it!
@ELUNO The IRK from the last Mehrathon? Mine hasn’t even shipped yet.
@Lister No, the April Fool’s one that was on SideDeal

@Kenbo Instant Regret Pasta
@evgrosen MorningSave, Meh, SideDeal, Mediocritee, Casemates
@evgrosen - oopsie - Six (6) sites total? They really want our entire C-19 allowance, don’t they? (Not happening, lol… still “gifting” T.P., sanitizer, and paper towels to friends in need. ugh.)
@eric1024 @evgrosen are morningsave and sidedeal really the same site though? I mean, I don’t mind a coupon for both, but they both sell the exact same things for the exact same price. It’s essentially one site with two urls.
@OnionSoup I was looking for earbuds and they cost two dollars more on sidedeal than morningsave. I recommend you check both if you want to order.
@eric1024 - Thanks! I forgot about casemates (wine - whoo hoo! Uh oh… )!
Sidedeal - I know nothing. But looks like we’re getting out of C19 lockdown pretty slowly… it’s for our own good, I suppose. sigh.
@OnionSoup @sammydog01 - Thank you for the heads-up. A couple dollars is like, real money – for those of us who aren’t 1 percenters!
@eric1024 @OnionSoup - it’s a Meh-ist conspiracy - they’re trying to get our “meh” money anyway they can. The name “sidedeal” sounds a little slimey to me - do they offer disinfecting wipes? Because, man, those are still really hard to get – unless you don’t mind getting reamed. (I did find some on Boxed for a reasonable price - limit 2, and man, they went FAST.)
I can’t wait to see my friend’s reaction when the pasta drop arrives!

Wow, I didn’t see that coming.
@ThunderChicken he’s very upset at the lack of pasta to go along with his fishes.
Has anyone received their PD yet?
Please post an unboxing video when you do.
Regards,
Everyone who didn’t get in on the deal…
@Brasssong mine is still processing and has not shipped. I have yet to actually receive anything that i have ordered from any of the mediocre labs sites. My first purchase was May 1st and then a few other orders prior to the pasta drop. I do not expect to receive the pasta until 2nd week of June. All of my expected delivery windows from orevious purchases have passed and still waiting. I ordered the penne this week to deliver to my sister. I figure i may forget about it in 5 weeks and we’ll both have a laugh
Penne is one of my favorite noods.
@Brasssong @tjg5181 that’s kinda the deal with the mediocre brands. They’re cheap but get delivered by a team of snails. It’s the same thing way back in the day when they used to be woot
My noods shipped. Yay! Only one tracking number. Whew. Wish the Post Office gave the weight so I could get a sense of how big the package is.
@heartny
be sure to let us know, inquiring minds …
and who knows
one number could be 1 - 20 lb box and 5 could be 5 - 1 lb boxes
If the shipping process from my MorningSave order is any indication of how this works, it’s been 11 days since that order shipped and I have NO idea where it is now. My first box of pasta shipped 5 days after that one and has been in Texas for the past week.
@melwin maybe they’re cooking it for you. Served with a nice fresh pesto, delivered by an out of work waitress from the Cheesecake Factory…ooohhh, cheeeeesecake…mmmmm…

Aaaawww! Now I have to order some cheesecake…dang it!
PastaDrop? More like Pasta-SLOW-SHIPPING-op!
@OnionSoup
/google is sore throat a symptom of Covid-19
Symptoms of Coronavirus: Early Signs, Serious Symptoms and More
https://www.webmd.com/lung/covid-19-symptoms
@MrMikenIkes @OnionSoup What is involved in the testing? How invasive is it?
Dunno what I’d do with 100 lbs of pasta, LOL, didn’t get this one, next one though, so send me that much mehcatalyst folks - dare ya
Mine just shipped yesterday. Wish the tracking # had a weight attached to it.
My brother was surprised but guessed me quickly and wondered what to do with 160 servings of pasta!!
To the lake house for big groups!
Just ordered another drop today after this was delivered.
@binkybear I shipped to myself, and got 40 pounds. 30 pounds are going to be donated to Martha’s Kitchen.
@binkybear I shipped to myself and my son, at the same house. His order was 40 pounds and I’m still waiting on mine.
@binkybear Brought the box to my parents’ house, could tell right away it was only 10 lbs. They were recipients of the spaghettini!
@binkybear I shipped to myself and got 100 pounds.
@SSteve WOW! That’s a lotta pasta. Very nice.
@chuegen disappointing, but I hope they liked it. It was a nice gift.
@JOATMON wonderful! May your kindness comeback threefold. Very nice thing to do, especially these days.
HA! The 40 lbs of pasta in my house still have the tracking showing it is up North in College Park, Georgia.
@yakkoTDI one tracking says it was passed off in my town two days ago… USPS says that they’re still waiting for it.
@yakkoTDI Well shit! Apparently it wasn’t 40 lbs of pasta. Another 60 lbs arrived today.

/giphy 100 pounds of pasta

Odd… my spaghettini still hasn’t shipped by dads penne order did.
@Vrysen it might be an issue with Pitney Bowes. Once I got my tracking, it had already been on the move for five days.
Would be nice to see if meh shipped some people sauces, cheese, etc to with the noods as a surprise.
Three drops and still no pasta here.
Also, in my magical imagination I had imagined that meh had setup a pasta producing setup at their warehouse and they were making the pasta themselved.
@ELUNO I think I kind of imagined the same thing…
@ELUNO yup. No pasta here either. Shipping label created on the 20th of May but hasn’t moved once yet.
@ELUNO It’s Meh hand-made pasta, that’s why the shipping is taking a bit.
/giphy handmade pasta

@ELUNO Just imagine all the pasta hanging everywhere drying. IRK… Pasta… mmm… maybe I’ll get pasta in my next IRK!

@ELUNO four drops now, and still no pasta.
Where’s my pasta??? Shipping label created May 20. Hopefully I’m not going to be one of those that receives the broken bags and dust because it appears I’m last on the list.
@trailtroll Put the tracking number from that label here and you may get more updated info:
https://pitneybowes.shipment.co/track
@lichme @trailtroll All that did for me was update my estimated delivery date to the more realistic " - ", whatever that means.
@trailtroll I have similar fears. The last several things I’ve received from meh have been received with badly mutilated packaging.
I’m one of the last to ship (which I think means only getting 10lbs) … and spending so long in the post…
… By the time it reaches me I’m going to have Orzo instead of spaghettini.
@lichme @trailtroll FYI if you press the “View Tracking Page” button after entering your tracking number on https://pitneybowes.shipment.co/track it shows you the package weight
@andrewkotz THAT was the info I needed. 20lbs to my sister! 100 would have been funnier but $20 plus the coupons totally made it worth it. I can’t wait to see what she says tomorrow

@andrewkotz nice find! This will be very useful for future drops and potential IRKs. Looks like I got 10lbs of spaghettini on the way.
@lichme Thank you! Appears to be stuck in NJ.
@andrewkotz @lichme DANGIT! 10 lbs
@trailtroll Mine is still processing. Maybe I’ll get a 10 pound bag of each kind!
@lichme Thanks for the link. All the ones I tried with google didn’t give me anything. This shows that tomorrow my daughter will be getting a 22lb 10oz box. Can’t wait for the penne to ship so I can see what my son will be getting. Daughter knows about it, son does not.
@andrewkotz @lichme @trailtroll ahhh…
Meh. 10 pounds for $20 is not a deal. Can’t say I will order again. Fool me once…
@Thunderbums did you actually spend the $20 or were you one of the people who may or may not have used a possible super-secret coupon that may or may not have existed that made the order a no-cost-to-you item?
Nope. I was a $20 sucker.
1x 10lb bag arrived for my 1st drop, amused my friend but not a great value for the $20 paid. Still waiting for my 2nd drop to ship…
I got 40 pounds…and I shipped to myself. I see some are getting a second shipment and now I’m nervous!
I got 10 pounds in my second order, for a total of 50 pounds. How long until the mailman gets tired of delivering these 10-20 pound boxes of pasta?
I am totally caught by surprise. I knew that Morning Save had an over abundance of pasta, but I never knew that someone would send my 20 pounds of it! Never heard about this nefarious bunch until just a short while ago my poor husband came in, out of breath, toting a Pastadrop box. (We’re old people.)
Now I want to get in on the action. Where can I buy a Pasta Bomb? I know several people who deserve a drop.
@Teripie pastadrop.com
@Teripie and dig around the bottom of the box - there should be a $5 coupon in there somewhere.
@stolicat @Teripie wasn’t there a free month shipping membership for new users listed on Slickdeals recently too for mercatalyst group websites? Is that still active.
Sent to my brother… arrived today. 20#. Confused the hell out of him. Well done PastaDrop.
100 lbs to my friend in Manhattan
@aleohansen it came in several shipments two days apart
10 pounds, box totally mangled, bag ripped open. Fortunately my recipient is pretty understanding. I think shipping these 10lb bags in a box big enough to hold twice that much is just asking for it to bounce around like a football player’s brain inside his skull until all are ruined.
I might be willing to give this one more shot (with a much less dense variety of pasta, and shipping to myself rather than to anyone I respect). But between that and the abysmal shipping I think I’d consider this experiment a failure.
My recipient, our son and family in MN got his today. 20 lbs. Package seemed intact.
/giphy hostile-touching-knife

I am already a meh member but its trying to charge me for a membership here. Whats the dealio?
Hi @ExtremeHobo looks like you don’t currently have a Membership, no icon next to your name.
@ExtremeHobo Welp, turns out I let my membership expire.
@ExtremeHobo :,(
WOW, THESE ARE SELLING FAST AND WE’RE BUSY PROCESSING OTHER ORDERS. TRY AGAIN IN A LITTLE BIT.
It’s easier to get an IRK!
Meh won’t take my $$! Giving up now.
broken ordering system? maybe i need to pay in lira or euro?
@cmerino Probably a single BitCoin would do it
I can’t get the thing from the thing to work. It’s just spinning
@lichme I was rejected.
Anyone with an actual order number? I’m trying to give you money in exchange for an unspecified quantity of pasta with unspecified quality… Can you hurry up and fix it?
@aardWolf I got through, even though it didn’t look like it. Check your email for receipt.
@aardWolf @cwolfpack3 Yep, I just saw mine went through in my email too.
/giphy martian-addicting-ham

YOU HAVE RECEIVED A 1 NOODLE PENALTY
@vandemusser Crap. I totally forgot about a VMP code. If I had one I probably deleted it.
@vandemusser No, I found it. That’s $20 I’ll never get back. But I still get the pasta! (That sounds pretty depressing now that I read it).
I finally got through and somehow ordered two… with two shipping confirmations. I’m doubling down on this pasta drop mystery!
@cblack I mean, at LEAST send COOKED pasta with a note that says: “Guess who’s eating spaghetti tonight? YOU ARE”
FSM says that’s not real pasta.
@cblack It’s also supporting charity. shrug I’m all for some happy randomness right now.
@cblack how else are you going to not know how much pasta you sent to your friend?
/giphy YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH

@cblack I’ll fall for a mediocre launch gimick anytime. If it ends up being a terrible idea or terrible prices, I won’t drop any more pasta.
@mediocrebot How much pasta? Is it an awesome amount?
/giphy GOOD QUESTION

@mediocrebot You finally reveal yourself! (?)
@cblack I’m pretty sure it started with someone saying SEND NOODS and it snowballed from there.
@cblack Just try to imagine the size of the warehouse full of pasta that made this seem like a good idea.
Well, at least an idea.
@cblack @Lister Come on, obviously it meatballed
Can anyone confirm whether the code’s used have all been redeemed? Not getting error but doesn’t seem to be doing anything. Order doesn’t seem to be going through either, not sure if it’s due to the applied code or if it’s just the bottleneck issues that @snapster mentioned
@wilstev I can’t check out either.
@wilstev we’re also trying to confirm this - I have order in same state as yours
@wilstev I got through with code some 10 mins ago. I also didn’t see a successful checkout but got an email confirmation.
@wilstev I ordered what I thought was a promo batch. Order went through, after saying it didn’t, and with no promo. I’m gonna not touch it until we hear about the issue status.
@wilstev I’m in the same boat
Trying to apply the code results in a 500 from the backend server, but no error message displayed:
@lichme @wilstev How long before the spaghetti club t-shirt?
@snapster For what it’s worth, I am now showing an order receipt timestamped 11:38 ET for a total of $0. waterproof-lowly-maple if you would like to do any internal testing (or if you even can). Never actually saw a confirmation screen, started to get the error message saying “these are selling fast. please wait a while” or similar. Closed window, waited and reopened to try again, and repeated cycle when I would get the wait a while message. I’ll stop trying now that I received the potential order confirmation.
@dzieciom @wilstev Similar issue on my side, it said that my order wasn’t going through, but I have a confirmation email with a charge of $0. Also got the added benefit of my bank sending an email about possible fraudulent charges for $0.00. Either way, I think my boss will enjoy some pasta.
@wilstev glad to see. we can’t confirm the are all gone yet but clearly it is a battle to get correctly applied and checked out.
@snapster So if the order went through, when it said it didn’t, and shows a charge, even though the coupon was used, it probably didn’t apply, and it’s safe to cancel the order? I don’t want to spam the servers if the thing is applied
@wilstev It shows it wasn’t successful, but I also got an order confirmation: sloppy-credible-potato
@lichme @snapster I couldn’t get the code to work either. So I paid cash for a delivery to my pasta buddy because how could I not. FIRST WEEK, BABY!
@lichme @snapster So, I had trouble getting my orders to go through, I thought.

OK, now just says invalid coupon code, so I assume it’s dead
@lichme @snapster Left for a bit, came back and clicked “Let’s try that again” on the page where I entered the coupon code and tried to buy it a billion times, and this time it went through.
@aardWolf @lichme @wilstev screw the shirt… i want another coin!
/giphy sliced-adherent-turtle

My order went through although I never got a confirmation… I hit the “buy” button several more times… Whoops!

Good sign.
@TenaciousT Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Finally getting a coupon code not found message
Just got a confirmation email for an unspecified order, clicked at an unspecified time, for an unspecified amount of pasta to be delivered at an unspecified time!
/giphy keen-destroyed-sign

Looks like the box can double as Pictureka boards so the kids get something too.
I’m used to disappointment
/giphy promiscuous-nondescript-language

(nice order number though)
Bath!

(of hot water in which to submerge dry noods)
@curtise I see what you did there
@curtise What you are using melted neoprene for the sauce?
@Kidsandliz I never got any free bath cases but spent my own money to buy the big batch, and I love them still! (Except for that one kindle case that I despise - it knows what it did!!!)

@curtise Are you the one who was in the bathtub with them? I no longer remember who that was, just remember the humorous photo.
@Kidsandliz Nope. That wasn’t me. I don’t even recall that photo.

It’s most likely 20 lbs, based on the product they were selling on morningsave.
Ah yes, the spaghettini!
I have the distinct feeling of being in some kind of Skinner box made out of pasta.
Oh well. In for one. Keep that dopamine comin’.
Thanks, but like so many others, I can’t spend $20 on something I know nothing about…not even the quantity.
A hint would help… I so want to like this…
@Tadlem43 there will be spaghetti in the box.
@Ignorant @Tadlem43
No there won’t. There will be spaghettini in the box.
@mike808 @Tadlem43 true.
Guess this proves I’m always up for 20$ to send random stuff to my brother. Hope it has a long shelf life, I don’t think he ate much pasta…before
/giphy adhesive-uber-coal

Oddly appropriate.
@snapster , I’ve followed you everywhere else, why stop here? This one really feels like the last frontier of weird BUT I appreciate the effort to be different AND I will come along for the ride.

Let’s hypothetically say there is a special code where this could be free… would that order qualify for the coupons for the other sites?
@KNmeh7 It appears it did! Hooray.
Putting in a request for cavatappi and/or gemelli.
Both are superior to spahettini. And damn it, I’m probably going to get a mediocrebot autoresponse for saying the “s” word.
@OnionSoup did you mean spaGhettini?
Ah yes, the spaghettini!
@snapster darn it… Lol
I can buy spaghetti for 49 cents a pound at my local store when it goes on sale… usually once a month. I’d pay more for specialty shapes, but spagetts? No.
Bring on the unicorn shapes!
@binkybear, but when was the last time you bought spaghettini?
Yay tracking number
My order was originally estimated to be delivered today, but still hasn’t shipped.
I’m still waiting for mine to ship as well.
It appears they may be attempting to ship based on shipping time to get everyone to receive at the same time. They have tried this before and it failed, but hey, why not try again.
Finally updated to shipped.
In other news, pastadrop.com set off some alarm bells with McAfee. Said the site is unsafe. Might be something @dave should look into?
@jaybird
never figured out if McAfee is the stupidest ever or too smart for our good.
@jaybird McAfee might as well be its own malware.
https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/https/pastadrop.com/forum/topics/the-spaghettini reports all is well except that McAfee has blacklisted the domain. Perhaps someone sent them a shit ton of spaghettini.
@jaybird McAfee isn’t wrong. This site is very harmful… Lol
meanwhile, in a city only 113 miles from Carrolton, TX… we wait… and wait… and wait. the one thing i can rely on when it comes to a mediocre company is the crawly-snail speeds of the shipping.
i once bought a poster from a poster place in Austin that went through my town three times between shipping companies before being delivered.
@Noddy93 My drop-ee lives in Burleson, just across town from Carrollton, and it’s taken 4 days just to get there…still waiting.
I see mine is out for delivery today. I suppose I will learn my fate when the postalpeople arrive.
Brought the box to my parents’ house, could tell right away it was only 10 lbs. They were recipients of awesome spaghettini!
HIKING! VIKINGS! STRIKE KING [BRAND FISHING LURES]! AWESOME!
40# here too
@mike808 Be warned! There might be more. I got another 60.
Pasted the tracking number into the pitney bowes shipment tracker and determined my friend will be receiving a 22 lb package, which I assume is 2 10-lb bags of spagettini.
@dbmittens Plus two pounds of Texas air? Everything really is bigger in Texas.
I have a craving for pasta. Where is my pasta!?!??!
There’s something I’ve been pondering for a while. Since Pasta Drop made this the first drop…
If a Spaghetti Western doesn’t have a very thick plot, would you then call it Spaghettini Western?
Shipping on mine says “Label Created. USPS Awaiting Item” Anyone else? Estimated delivery was between May 26th and June 1st, but apparently mine hasn’t even shipped yet?
@jennisashark The estimated delivery was changed to June 22-June 25 although a lot of people are already receiving theirs. The covid virus is causing havoc with shipping.
@Barney @jennisashark nah… the far end of my expected delivery date is still June 1. this ain’t a covid thing, this is purely on Pitney Bowes being a horrible, terrible, no good company.
@moonhat is to blame!
@mediocrebot @moonhat
I blame @mediocrebot
that’s more fun
@moonhat is why there are no summer holidays in June.
@tjg5181 My order hasn’t even shipped yet…

@corrado Damn. Normal Postal Service dysfunction. 20# delivered today.
So the drop I ordered during week two has shipped, but week one is still processing. Ooook.

Replacement would be fine by me …
@stolicat
that is one sad box
Pastadrop bringing people together… my message was simply “it’s not a 25 pound bag of beans but hopefully this will work”

@lehigh aww, the “thanks?” kind of bummed me out.
@RiotDemon He was prohibited my his spouse from buying the beans… so perhaps I got him in kitchen storage trouble
@lehigh ohhh, ok. That makes more sense.
@lehigh ohhh, ok. That makes more sense.
When will this ship? The second Pasta Drop has already arrived.
I received 20lbs of pasta. I’ll put it to good use!
My gift arrived
@slipperyp They only ran yours over once. Most get run over twice. Consider yourself lucky.
I’m sad. The spaghettini I shipped has been lost. I’ve been refunded. I was really looking forward to talking with my brother after it shows up. Now I’ll just have to bring him some of my pasta in person whenever I can see him.
@RiotDemon same here. Mine was supposedly in my town on the first but evidently it escaped
It’s not aliiiiiive yet?

Edit: we have lift-off!
/buy
In for one to try out, and if nothing else, hopefully discount codes work out!
/giphy understood-enchanted-servant

How do I purchase? Site not working.
