… determined by what’s available, and whether I want any of it. “Random stuff from the fridge” damn sure won’t work, because there are some things in there that you do not want to snack on. (It’s not as bad as @shahnm’s fridge; please do not snack on his batteries if you drop in for a visit!)
That pizza slice still in the box on the counter; but close the refrigerator door after getting the beer out and go sit in front of the TV, remote in the hand not currently being used.
Actually, it is allowed to nuke the pizza while grabbing the beer.
@Kyeh@Pony Except that most of the store retail brands are quite high in sodium, if you are trying to limit that. I know some salt is necessary for flavor and also for preservation, but now I always look at the labels on various store brands (need glasses to read the tiny print). And the official “serving” size used for nutritional information is a lot smaller than we often consume.
@Pony I can relate - I’m eating some of the Target house brand right now (olive tapenade flavor.) I like it so much better when it’s homemade but it’s a lot of work, including the clean-up.
Ever try to make random sauces late at night by combining other things that are good on their own and then stomaching it even if it’s bad (and it usually is)?
I’ve had a few winners over the decades but mostly losers.

Eaten at midnight.
Hummus and pita bread. I try to never run out, because I am an addict.
@Pony Buy this, and make your own! Or maybe you already do …
@Kyeh I just buy Sabra brand. I will make my own once in a while, but I’m lazy, so… yeah.

@Pony @pmarin Even so, I figure it’s healthier than a lot of the other snacks I sometimes indulge in.

@GetClosure Yes
Knott’s pasta sides. I’m partial to the four cheese flavor.
@lisaviolet You actually cook for a midnight snack?
Knorr’s, not Knott’s. Stupid autocorrect.
@Kyeh Yeah, doesn’t take very long, maybe twenty minutes.
Leftovers, but standing over the sink.
Cheese. Always.
@kostia Workin’ on my Night Cheese.
A giant bowl of cereal!
I usually go for two quick pieces of toast with cinnamon sugar.
A dream
Ice cream
@remo28
Ice cream is mine too.
@remo28 @Star2236
Often mine as well.
