In the last 7 or 8 years or so a Tom Cruise turd came out that used a similar ending as Moon. Original ideas in film are tragically rare.

I won’t see a film until someone I know tells me it’s worth seeing. Even with that I have a hard time shelling out my hard earned money just to see it on the big screen. In the case of The Matrix I think I saw it probably 10 years ago - maybe even later than that. Speaking of the big screen, there are movies I wish I had seen in the theater. 1917 is one such film that I regret missing.
But as someone who will be 54 this week, 22 years is absolutely recent!
Frankly, with every passing year, that period of “recent memory” becomes increasingly brief.
Also, nuclear is getting scaled down rapidly and I think in a few years that will coincide with constantly increasing screen size to yield a nuclear powered mobile device that will only need “charging” every 2000 years. https://www.nuscalepower.com/
Seriously though, I’m thinking about what would be required to charge a phone via microwave… domestic microwave ovens should have wavelengths in the centimeter range, therefore the 1/4 wave dipole antennae would have to be small…

Ah, but where to dump the excess power? The fastest-charging super phones charge at about 30W and microwave ovens produce 1200-1500W, typically. You might have to put your microwave-charging cell phone in a bowl of water.
Skin contact charging. Humans as batteries. Of course you’d have to store yourself in the frig like all good batteries.
