Sad that so many spend longer on the phone with customer service. And most of it on hold. But at least there’s music. That shows me how important I must be. They tell me the whole time how they can’t wait to talk to me. Now that’s love.
My husband and I regularly talk for over an hour while he is at work. Been married almost 18 years but still look forward to his phone calls throughout the day
To Hell with Frontier. Seriously. 2+ hours hold time every call for a bill that shouldn’t even exist but does because F me that’s why, for half an F’ing year. I should just take them to court but I don’t have the money. Bloody twats. Trying to con half a grand out of me thinking I won’t fight it
@tonylegrone Yeah, I don’t know why co-worker wasn’t listed next to “employer/employee.” I spent a lot of time on the phone this past week with an out-of-state co-worker, but neither of us is the other’s employer.
I like seeing how long I can keep those credit card scam telemarketers talking.
It’s not as easy as it used to be.
They tend to hang up on you much quicker than the telemarketers of old. (Probably because not representing a legitimate company).
I’ve been blacklisted by one scammer. One of those “we can lower your rate on your credit card” robot callers where you press 1 to talk to a live operator. I’ve been told my number is blacklisted by an automated message a few times.
That made my day the first time to know that a scammer had blacklisted me (I still got the initial robocall though… That didn’t stop)
A guy friend. Honestly, I’ve recently re-discovered how nice it is to talk on the phone with someone. So much more personal than texting. I find myself looking forward to this.
I work at a college as an advisor so calls from students and potential students are always what is longest for me. Yesterday it was a call from a guy playing 20 questions and a majority of it is stuff he could have read on our website. IF he knew where to look. 10 min is average but some of them drag out when I have to explain something multiple times. Educationese is so overly complicated and confusing.
I tend to be short and to the point on the phone - not one for idle phone chatter. But one of my best friends (known him since 5th grade) is more, er, loquacious. What would normally be a quick, “Meet me at the cafe at 9AM tomorrow”, sort of phone call can easily stretch into an hour or more. We call the red low-battery warning light on the cordless phone the “Paul light”.
The only time I talk on the phone is briefly to tell people I have their food when I can’t get into whatever building they’re in because of security or whatever. Otherwise, just text
Phone call length and talking to people on the phone are separate things. Customer sevice calls are the longest and the shortest.
Hi mom.

@katbyter Your call is important to us. Please hold while we continue to ignore you.
@katbyter The last time I was on hold, I heard Paul Simon singing “I wish I was homeward bound …”
I was calling Travelocity.

We have phone meetings for work. It’s all stuff that would be better addressed in an eMail, and takes forEVer.
@aetris I hated this when I went to management meetings. I go to different meetings now, they aren’t as bad.
@aetris @RiotDemon Those emails tho… inflection is lost and that can cause some real probs sometimes.
An old roommate, we call each other on our birthdays and that’s all. A couple of weeks ago we talked from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., six hours.
@pooflady I have a friend like that. Catch up once a year. It’s nice. Kind of like the annual Christmas letter.
I tall to Scam Likely a lot. Pretty much the only one that calls me.
Out of state coworker.

A lady friend.
Longest talk time? My mom. It was her birthday.
Longest call time? My insurance company. 3 hr hold and no callback option. Ugh

I don’t like talking on the phone. But during football season I’ll call my little brother sometimes.
After, my wife will ask me “How’s his wife, how’s his daughter?” I shrug, “It didn’t come up. We talked about football, snowblowers, and technology.”

Trying to get thru to my kids pediatricians office just to refil a prescription. Like an hour and a half.

I don’t always talk on the phone but if it with two of my friends it we talk for about 40 min to 2 hours almost weekly or every other week
